The company was always very prompt and showed up on the same day each week. The lawn looked good. They sometimes were not timely in responding to requests for additional services, but, when provided, they were done well and at reasonable prices. The owner moved out of state some time ago, and the quality of service fell off. I informed the owner of A Cut Above by text on Sept. 11, 2011 of my decision to change to a new company. At that time, I'd sent payment of $365 to A Cut Above in August 2011. The company charged $40/month for lawn cutting/edging, but did some additional work for me that increased the charges due for August. A Cut Above cut my lawn once in September, such that I owed them $40, which I sent on October 3, 2011. I heard nothing from A Cut Above indicating that they thought I owed them any money. Beginning in mid-September, the new company started cutting my lawn, and I issued payment to them, according to my bank records, on 10/3/2011. On 1/17/2012, I mistakenly paid A Cut Above for December and Jan. services in error. I informed them of this by phone and in writing, and have yet to receive payment. I have called the owner, Dennis, on several occasions, and he kept putting me off, saying he would look into it. When I called him today, he suddenly told me that he cut my lawn through November 2011 and my last payment was on 10/3/2011, so I owed him the money I sent him. I have reviewed my bank records and it is clear that I started paying the new company on 10/3/2011 for service rendered in mid- to late-September 2011. Dennis' company did NOT provide service to me after early September 2011. I am shocked that after being a loyal customer for 13+ years, he would not promptly return these monies. I know that a number of his former clients have switched lawn companies over the past 6 months due to concerns with the quality and timeliness of service.
Description of Work: I used A Cut Above for lawn care for 13 years, ending in September 2011. They mowed my lawn on a weekly basis when needed, at a charge of $35 until a couple of years ago, when the rate was raised to $40. I also occasionally had them provide additional services, such as trimming bushes.
