+ -1 moreThe entire process was fantastic with Fortitude Roofing. The only glitch was with the mortgage holding bank - Suntrust. There is a related review regarding them. We live in Sun City, and our roof was damaged in a hail storm. A friend told us about the storm, and the roof work done by Fortitude so we contacted them and a couple other contractors. Word of mouth is a very reliable reference, and many people on our street had hired fortitude to do the work, and they were all pleased with the service and results. The representative, Joe Griffin, met the insurance adjuster at our home, pointing out the areas of damage that he had discovered. He then advised us on the usual process. We had never had anything like this happen, so Joe's guidance was helpful. They arrived on time, covered the perimeter of the house to prevent damage to our shrubs etc. and the work began. The job was completed in one day, and they cleaned up everything - to include rolling the area with a magnet to collect all the old nails. Joe worked with the bank to get the insurance check cashed {Suntrust needed vendor information from him, and his signature}. He them submitted the necessary paperwork to our insurance company to get reimbursement for the depreciation amount. The roof is good looking, and well installed. With the 3 good days of rain recently, it withstood what Mother Nature dished out and kept us dry. Also, with the hold up and issues with Suntrust cosigning the checks, Fortitude could not have been better. I panicked, because the insurance money was tied up and we could do nothing about it. They are a responsive, wonderful company.
Description of Work: Removed old roof and replace it with new underlay, shingles, and vents. Assisted us with the bank and insurance company.

+ 0 moreWe were extremely satisfied and would again recommend Fortitude Roofing and Restoration to our friends and neighbors. Again they were professional, polite, and did a fantastic job.
Description of Work: We live in Sun City and contracted Fortitude Roofing and Restoration to replace our roof in November. Since they did such a wonderful job, we decided to have them repair the rotting trim around our windows. Kenny, who works for Fortitude Roofing and Restoration, is an excellent carpenter. He measure the rotted boards, purchased the correct materials, removed the bad boards and replaced them. He also caulked all the windows to make sure that water would not seep behind the existing boards and the newly installed ones. Once again Fortitude came to the rescue and did a fabulous job.

+ -1 more,Our area had hail storm damage on our roofs this summer. We saw Fortitude working in our area and asked them to assess our roof. There was damage, our insurance carrier was called, and they also found damage. We had our roof replaced by paying our deductible.
Description of Work: Without a doubt, Fortitude Roofing gave us the best service, the best workmanship, professionalism, and quality of any other roofing company around. They did not knock on doors to get our business (or any of the other people I know who have used them)., They had a crew that were courteous, hard working, polite, and efficient. They are not storm chasers or underhanded in their business ethics, they are truly a wonderful company to be associated with. We found them to be honest and sincere and sat down with us and explained everything that would take place and when. I highly recommend them as would all the neighbors in our area that had them. They are supper people to deal with. Our only cost was the $2,500 deductible on our insurance policy.

Description of Work: We're new to this area so we were nervous about what company to use when our roof was damaged but we knew what to look for in a roofer ( we've totally renovated 4 houses in the past ) so we were anxious to get the damage repaired. We approached Fortitude when we saw the beautiful roof they put on our neighbors house and I'm soooo glad we did! The staff and workmen were helpful ( I hate insurance co. paperwork ) & professional and the quality of their work ( we knew exactly what to check for ) was EXCELLENT! My brother is going to buy a house here next year and if he needs a new roof we will DEFINITELY recommend Fortitude.

+ -1 more......I live in Sun City Hilton Head and recently there was hail damage to my roof.Quite a few houses in the area received roof damage due to the storm. I researched and observed all of the companies that are replacing roofs in the area. I chose Fortitude Roofing and Restoration and I am very glad I did.Their prep work was excellent. They completed my job quickly and professionally and it turned out wonderful. Their crew worked very efficiently together and the clean up was spot less.I will also note that I received a flyer in the U.S. mail from Premier Roofing around the first week of December.This companies ethics in that material went beyond being professional. Based on that , I would never hire that company.

Description of Work: Our home is almost 13 years old. We began to notice the gravel from the roof shingles collecting in our gutters & on the ground at the downspouts of the gutters. We watched as one of our neighbors had their roof replaced by Fortitude Roofing & Restoration. We were impressed with the workmanship & efficiency of the installation so we asked Fortitude to stop by our home to evaluate the condition of our roof & to give us a quote if we needed to have our roof replaced. Brad Ricks met with us, & we informed him of our concerns. After carefully checking our roof, Mr. Ricks showed us pictures of our roof indicating damage done by hail storms. Until then we were not aware that the cause of the gravel separating from the roof shingles & accumulating in our gutters was caused by hail. If Mr. Ricks had not informed us that we would qualify to file an insurance claim, we would have had to independently incur the full expense of a roof replacement. We appreciated Mr. Ricks's knowledge, honesty & professionalism in his presentation & explanation of the work he would do if we selected Fortitude to replace our roof. We then contacted our insurance company & filed a claim. Mr. Ricks offered to meet with the claims adjuster to assist in identifying the hail damage. Our adjuster immediately concurred with Mr. Ricks & began the claims process. We selected Fortitude Roofing & Restoration after having interviewed another roofing company. Before signing a contract with Mr. Ricks, he provided us with his company's Workman's Compensation & General Liability documents, & South Carolina & Beaufort County Licensing information. Once the contract was signed our roof was scheduled to be installed on October 29, 2012. On the appointed day, all materials, permits, & crew were ready to begin the installation at 7:15 A.M. The crew took care to lay tarps around the entire house covering bushes to prevent damage & stop debris from accumulating on the ground & on our neighbor's property. Then a nine man crew began removing the existing roof with precision & care. The new roof was installed professionally in only one day sparing us the inconvenience of a multiday installation. When the crew completed the installation & left our property, there was no evidence of debris & the property was in perfect condition. Throughout the installation process, Mr. Ricks stopped by to check the progress & quality of the installation. We found Fortitude Roofing and Restoration a company of integrity, quality & professionalism. It was always easy to reach Mr. Ricks by phone & email, & he was always responsive within a short time. After our roof was installed, we received a GAF warranty & a Fortitude Roofing & Restoration's ten (10) year labor warranty. Fortitude also processed a GAF "Roofs for Troops" rebate of $300.00 which will be donated directly by GAF to benefit our troops. We were extremely satisfied with Fortitude Roofing and Restoration's workmanship & service & therefore, we unconditionally recommended them to our friends & neighbors.

+ -1 moreFortitude chases storms and gets jobs through telemarketing areas where there is hail damage potential. They have no known address, web site or even telephone number, although they told me they were from Savannah. I used the Bluffton address as a place marker for where they currently are doing business out of their trucks. The number listed here is that of a representative who contacted me and provided me an estimate. T heir written proposal contained a non-existent telephone number: 855-FORTITUDE. While their proposal to re-roof my house was reasonable and withing the insurance amount, I checked out their work in my immediate community and found it well below par. To begin with, the proposal stated #15 felt underlining; our current felt is #30, far better than what they would use. Their proposal also requires one to go to arbitration should a problem arise. However, after 2 years no action can be taken. They use GAF products but are not listed by GAG as a certified installer. I checked the Better Business Bureau web site and could not find them mentioned. They also said they were on Angie's List, but I could not find them there either. So, that prompted me to write this review. Examining their work in my neighborhood, I find their work substandard. They didn't place felt over the entire roof, hammered down old shingle nails instead of taking them out, cut and nailed felt where it was wrinkled. Alignment of shingles, sealing around vents are also poor. They told my neighbors that they will have a lifetime warranty of the roof by GAF, however by not using certified GAF components throughout the roof, GAF will not issue such a warranty. I wound up hiring another contractor. Once Fortitude found this out they started harassing my contractor by calling Beaufort County offices and our local community governance stating that we did not have the proper permits. This was not true, but it held up work by an hour.
Description of Work: Would not hire them after looking into the company carefully.
