We had a lot of damage from Hurricane Ian. We had 16 inches of bra kish water in our house. They did a great job with the clean up and restoration of my house. The wife and I considered this a forced renovation and they did a great job putting our home back together and we think the house a tally looks better then before the storm. The wife and I can't thank enough for everything they did!!!!! I would definitely Italy recommend them if you need anything done to your house!!!!

Norman Restorations did a fantastic job. Everything was perfectly done. If something needed a touch up, Chris Norman immediately took care of any issues. First floor completely renovated. Kitchen looks like it belongs in Southern Living. This is the 2nd job Chris Norman has done for me and I highly recommendd him and his company.

Working with Chris Norman started off good, but ended a horribly. Chris overpromised and underdelivered. At times he was dishonest about work that was done and did not seem to have access to any real professionals. His workers did not take pride in their work and often more harm than good to my two condos. On average, things had to be done 2-3 times before they were done correctly. This includes painting, installation of lights, sinks, cabinetry, tile work, plumbing, electric, etc. Whenever I held Chris accountable for the poor craftsmanship of his crew, he blamed anything and everyone else. He never took accountability for not properly supervising my projects and his lack of oversight and major mistakes were costly. In the end he finished 3 months behind schedule and over budget. Not only did I pay for mistakes, I also lost money due to the carrying costs associated with not being able to rent my condos for 3 additional months. Chris had problems with almost everyone he worked with. My neighbors, building manager, and Chris's own employees complained a lot about his temperament. Several people quit and I played the role of mediator more than a couple times. I hired Chris to manage two renovation projects in a historic building in downtown Savannah, GA. The budget was six figures and when I interviewed him, I asked him about his ability to pull necessary permits for any plumbing and electrical. He assured me he would pull all necessary permits. In the end however, I had to actually threaten to turn him and his electrician over to the city because they had not pulled the proper permits or scheduled the required inspections for rewiring one of my units. Before I hired Chris, I also asked if he was familiar with renovating older buildings that may have lead based paint. He told me he was licensed to handle that and his crew would seal the doorways/ windows as well as use a ventilation system. I found out later from infuriated neighbors as well as the building manager that Chris’s guys were grinding paint without ventilation and that all the dust was coating the hallways, walls, and floors of the building's communal spaces. The balcony and windows of the unit below mine was also coated in dust. Lead or no lead, dust needs to be managed and Chris’s handling of this was unacceptable and not what we agreed to when I hired him. Towards the end of the project, as my trust and confidence in Chris dwindled, I decided to hire my own plumber to cap my gas line’s and take a look at my tub’s drain because it didn't look right. My plumber immediately identified that my drain was cross-threaded and that it would have flooded into the unit below as soon as we ran water. Luckily (I say this sarcastically) Chris's crew had sheet rocked and plastered over the access to the bathtub's plumbing and in doing so, left the water valves in the off position so that water could not run from the tub faucet. My plumber had to cut into the wall in order to turn the valves on. Once he got into the wall, he replaced the cross-threaded drain and turned the water on to test it. The water began pouring from behind the sheetrock up near the shower head. The plumber had to cut further up into the wall where he found the shower riser leaking at a compression nut. These repairs cost me $1,300 out of pocket. Although Chris said he would "take care of it" he decided instead to go on his SECOND trip to Guatemala and in the end, only paid me for half of his plumber's blunder. He haggled me by saying he didn't think the plumbing should have cost that much and that he wasn't making any money on my projects. All of this was entirely avoidable had he just done his job by checking his plumber’s work, but should go without saying that it is hard to make money as a contractor when you have to have jobs done 2-3 times before getting it right. Chris's cabinet source Reliance Cabinetry was another hack job. The cabinets were low quality, damaged by the installers, and not what I agreed to. They were cheap (mostly particle board), the skins were peeling, edges were chipped and doors were scratched. The stain color was not consistent throughout. Chris and Ed ( of Reliance Cabinetry) designed my kitchens to house standard sized appliances. We went as far as to rewire one of my condos to accommodate these standard appliances. I ordered months ahead to avoid covid supply chain issues, but once my appliances arrived my stoves barely fit the tight spaces and my refrigerators were about 2-3 inches too wide for my cabinetry. We had to add an extension to the refrigerator panel to accommodate the 36 inch refrigerator in one condo. In the other condo, there was no way to modify the layout of the cabinets or counters to fit a standard sized refrigerator so I had to exchange it for a smaller unit, which cost me an additional $1000 more out of pocket. Due to this design/ installation error and delays in the supply chain, my tenant was without a proper refrigerator for their space for a month. Again, all of this could have been avoided with the proper oversight. Chris and the Reliance Cabinetry never took accountability and instead tried to gaslight me into believing I had designed the kitchens for a smaller refrigerator, which was 100% untrue. Let's talk tile - I bought patterned tile for my kitchen backsplashes and bathrooms. The tile guys botched the installation of the mosaic tile in one of my bathrooms so bad that the pattern didn’t line up at all. When I told Chris that it was unacceptable and that I could not live with it, his response was, “You don’t have to live with it because you are going to sell it!” I told him that I didn’t know if I was selling or renting my condos, but that I wasn't paying for a bad job and that he needed to have his guys come out and fix it. Some of my glass tiles were also badly scratch. Also, the tile guy had to come back out to fill in holes he forgot to grout. Ultimately, they fixed most of their mistakes and the tile was by far the best work of any as it pertains to these projects. Chris’s crew damaged my original floors. They also damaged my brand new cabinetry, appliances, and countertops. They didn’t protect my original hardwood floors or my brand new tile floors from paint or stains. My walls were scratched and damaged after they had been freshly painted and re-plastered. My wood floors were scratched after he claims they were refinished. Side note - I have never seen refinished wood floors look as bad as mine. They are splintered and have bare spots with no varnish, which left me questioning wether they were ever actually sanded and refinished professionally. My brand-new counters were gouged by workers who threw and slid their tools on the unprotected surface. My custom made floating shelves were stained with rings from workers setting soft drinks on top of them. When they went to install my custom floating shelves, they cut them with what appears to have been a toothbrush, leaving the ends chipped and jagged. They then proceeded to scratch my new cabinets while installing these shelves and damaged my newly plastered walls. My 100 year old windows now have broken and scratched window panes, which were never replaced. The window frames, which were supposed to be “restored” were further damaged and degraded when Chris's crew added new hardware. They used horrendous scrap wood to fix the new hardware to my windows cheapening them and making them look worse than they did before. When I confronted Chris about the window locks not being secure and popping off in my hand, he yelled at me that that wasn’t his “fault” or “responsibility”. I told him that was interesting considering he had a line item on the final invoice for over $3,000 for making all the windows and doors operational and secure. Of all the negligence and miss-steps, the windows were the most egregious and I spent many hours repairing and securing them before my tenants moved in. Lastly, the paint job from ****… Chris’s crew painted latex on top of oil paint. This was actually a mistake that had been made previously and was one of the things we aimed to fix when we hired Norman Restorations. They were to strip and repaint all windows, trim, and doors. Not only was this job done VERY poorly, it was peeling like skin, sticking when doors were closed, and ripping and tearing when they were re-opened. I actually had to call Sherwin Williams to ask them what to do. They informed me, what had been done was absolutely a no-no and that any contractor should know better and referred me to the right products and procedures. I expected my contractor to do better than I could. I expected his standards to be no less than they would be if he was renovating or restoring his own home. Because of Chris's negligence and dishonesty I absolutely would not use or recommend Norman Restorations to anyone. He should drop "Restorations" from his company name, as these photos prove that he and his crew do not know what that term actually means.

Response from Norman Restorations, Inc.
Ms. [Member Name Removed] is correct on the time frame of the completion of the project; however, she is sadly mistaken on the rest of her comments. Where Ms. [Member Name Removed] is correct it was that the schedule to renovate to complete her two units was 6 months, however there were a few change orders that extended the schedule by two months due to Covid and material delivery issues and there were a few other change orders that she added as well. One of the change orders was a major electrical rewiring of both unit complete, this added a month and a half to the schedule alone and Ms. [Member Name Removed] agreed to the two months extension. In regards to Ms. [Member Name Removed] comment that our team members were unprofessional and didn’t take pride of their work, once again Ms. [Member Name Removed] is sadly mistaken, in the restoration work towards the end of the project is typically a punch list specially in this type of building which is over 100 years old. The project and the punch list were completed and signed off by Ms. [Member Name Removed] In regards to Ms. [Member Name Removed] comments about permits Ms. [Member Name Removed] is sadly mistaken once again, Norman Restorations has never done any projects without pulling the necessary required permits, was she is referring to is receiving from the City the final electrical inspection which she has received and the city signed off on both units as a proof. In regards to Ms. [Member Name Removed] comments about lead issues Ms. [Member Name Removed] is sadly mistaken once again, Norman restorations and Chris Norman is Lead certified and a lead test was performed and completed and the test was negative result in all areas.

Chris and his team from Norman Restorations did an outstanding job updating my home. His advice was good council regarding the quality of materials, color recommendations, and overall fit of the total project. His workers were prompt, performed quality work in a timely manner, and cleaned up the site well. I put in Luxury Vinyl Planking (LVP) throughout the house. It looks great and was a very professional job. The entire house interior painting also came out fantastic. Lastly, the new kitchen looks great and his advice on cabinets and countertops gave it very functional, and much more expensive look, then it actually cost.

Terrible. Terrible. Fired him. I paid Chris for two steps late in project because he had Car issues - chris then told me he would NOT finish the job unless I paid him a lot more money. We had a contract and he wanted to renegotiate. And he said there were management fees on top of expensive remodel price. A con. Workmanship terrible. Subs constantly quitting. Yelling at job site. Huge temper. Makes decisions without including the owner and then bullies or makes excuses or charges extra for his mistakes. I paid him a lot of money - trying to help him out and he screwed me. I’m having to redo a lot of his work. - and bc I was remote a lot of the work looked done in pictures but in reality the work was not complete. A con. - he works under someone else’s license and I’m not sure if that person exists. He is leaving subs hanging and took last payment to pay for total cost of kitchen cabinets and he didn’t follow through. His excuse was management fees sucked up all the money. Huh? - A nightmare. I will post pics of his workmanship On other sites. Be wary. You have been warned. I will continue to add pictures.

Norman Restorations did an amazing job renovating our home. We had them install laminate flooring throughout, paint the dining, kitchen and living rooms along with 2 hallways, and paint kitchen cabinets. It was a big job and it was handled professionally and with care. The same crew arrived on time each day and worked a full day leaving our home in good condition so that we were still able to function. The owner checked on the job daily and ensured that everything was to our satisfaction, and it was. The job was scheduled to go for 10 days but they finished in 7 days. The quality of the work is excellent. The house looks beautiful and we are very happy with the outcome. This contractor is very reliable and treated the house as if someone lives here. The entire experience was very positive. I highly recommend them.

Painting and plaster repairs (ceilings) were competently done. Floor refinishing (whole house, about 1700 sq ft) was a totally botched job. Terrible sanding, marks left everywhere, splotchy application of stain. I had the living room, dining room, and foyer redone by a professional floor refinisher and even he was not able to remove all the dark sanding marks. I would not recommend Norman Restorations for anything other than painting.

It went well. Chris Norman, recently(3 years ago) relocated to Savannah from Miami responded quickly in four or five days with a bid after visiting the site to see the problem. Talked with our engineer and actually, according to the engineer, came up with an improvement on the engineer's original fix proposal. He worked closely with the engineer and coordinated his final building solutions with the engineer so that we had full approval of the repair signed off on by the engineer. Chris started the job about ten days after we gave him the go ahead and finished it about a week later. He came back the day after completing the job to take care of a service issue with some tv cables which had been relocated in order to make the repair which we felt were too exposed He definitely wanted us to be completely satisfied. While our problem was somewhat esoteric and unusual, Chris' normal bread and butter jobs are remodeling kitchens, bathrooms, room additions and the like. I believe that he should be considered whenever you have a need for that type of a job. He has 30 years in the construction business and it comes through in his problem solving skills.
Description of Work: We have quite a bit of structural steel in our home on the ocean at Tybee. We learned recently that one of the structural supports upon which the house rests was 2/3 rusted through and needed shoring up with additional iron. Our structural engineer gave us three names of restoration companies and we got two bids and selected Norman Restoration based on his bid and recommendation from the engineer.

The entire process went very well. Chris answered my call immediately and was able to give me an estimate the same day. He and his crew were able to start work within a few days and had the entire house (1600sf) finished in five days. They were patient even when I had some issues with the paint color I thought I wanted but turned out not to be what I wanted and had to review seemingly endless paint colors before finding the "right" one. They actually hooked up my washer and dryer after painting the laundry nook and helped my roomie hoist her mattress onto her bunk bed and numerous other tasks that went above and beyond what the contract said they had to do. The crew was polite and pleasant to be around. The price was a bit high but I cannot fault the work that was done and to me that made the price worth it in the end. I would definitely high Chris and his crew again.

Both the product and the process were excellent. At the start of the project, Chris said that he grew his business by making his customers happy. Now that the work is done, I can confirm the truth of that claim. Chris regularly contacted me to ask how the project was going and to make sure that I was pleased. He visited my house numerous times to check the quality of his employees' work. One day he made a worker re-sand and repaint a wall because Chris thought the patches weren't perfectly flat. If I had any concerns (e.g., uneven painting), Chris addressed them without hesitation. Also, when Hurricane Irma knocked a tree onto my roof, Chris, to ensure that my claim was fairly handled, met with the insurance representative and pointed out all the possible damage. Plus, when I needed Chris to send a Notice of Completion so that the insurance company would send the balance of the claim, he did so immediately. When I replace the carpet with wood floors and redo the kitchen in the next few years, I will have Norman Restorations do the work.

Called to have two bedrooms, master bath and wood & steel pergola painted. Original scheduled start date was to be two-three week from call. Chris called the next day and was able to start within the week due to a cancellation or delay in another job. I have him the paint samples and he handled the rest. He and his crew arrived in time, stayed later to complete the job and came back to check on the pergola to touch up for any spots that had leached through (pressure treated wood). It was nice to have someone take pride in their work, down to the small details.

I always can be appreciative of everybody's opinion and criticism because not only allows me to evaluate but to improve my company. Having said that, I have many layers of supervision within inside my company and no job is ever left unsupervised. Project was 80% done before I left town, and if the cabinets and drawings would not were wrong and if we have had all the appropriate flooring ordered, project would have being completed earlier than expected. Unfortunately, I wasn't involved and didn't have anything to do with the designing of the cabinets or ordering the floors as per owner's choice. Wrong things happen when the owners try to be their own "Contractor"; but even with everything that was ordered I was able to finish the project in 6 weeks to everybody's satisfaction. Thank you for your comments and business.

Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never had any issues. Contractor arrived on date and time agreed too at contract signing. Chris even went down to the paint store with me to pick out paint and colors. Awesome job. Colors worked perfectly. Completed a little head of schedule. Going forward I would always call this company first.
