We had used Chris in the past. so we called him when a few trees fell on our house after a storm. He took about a week to come out and assess the situation and another week to come out and remove the trees from our house. After multiple calls to him he still has not finished the job. He left multiple logs in our neighbor's yard and the trees have not been completely removed. We can't even get him to send us a bill for the work that he did do. I am calling another service on Tuesday to finish the job. I would NEVER use this tree service again.

Except for late notice that, due to an emergency, they needed to reschedule for the day following the original appointment, the work was completed with great efficiency and professionalism. The skill and expertise of the entire team was admirable. From the removal of the tree branches and moss to the cleanup, their teamwork was impressive.
Description of Work: Pruned all of the trees around the house to provide clearance. In addition, removed all deadwood and moss (a copious amount) from a large oak tree next to the house.

I would avoid using Chris Hunt, he was polite and arrived for the appointment as scheduled but he was unprofessional in not following through with his promise of an estimate. I am suspicious of seeing his name associated with three or four different businesses, makes me think he is hiding from customers. ???? Perhaps he has "one business" that is "doing business" under three or four different names. Each business has a different address, web page and phone number but the same receptionist answers the phone. She was also very rude when I told her I would not do business with Chris since he had not provided an estimate as scheduled when he came out under the name of Premiere / Hunt. She responded with a sassy attitude and hung up on me. Perhaps she deals with unhappy customers too often!
Description of Work: Chris Hunt (Premiere - Hunt service) came to my home as scheduled to discuss one tree removal and trimming of 11 trees. He did not take any notes as we walked through both the front and back yards discussing which branches needed to be removed on special trees. He promised me a quote in two or three days which he never produced. After waiting a few weeks, I called another service, Southeastern Tree Service, to schedule an appointment. I then found out that Chris Hunt was the owner / president / arborist for this company as well as for Premiere / Hunt Tree Service. I told the receptionist that Chris had been to my house once and never provided an estimate and I would not deal with him again. A few days later, Chris left a message asking to schedule an appointment with his service, Southern Trees. From my research Chris Hunt appears to be operating three or four different companies...I have not looked up his business license(s) or contacted BBB to see exactly how many companies he is running or involved with...prefer to avoid him and all companies associated with him.

My husband called Hunt's in Oct. because we had used them before and we had several very large trees to come down because of a wind storm. They came out and gave us an estimate and time frame both of which worked for us. They did the work as contracted and we were very pleased, as usual with them. Since we have quite a few large old trees I am sure we will be calling them in the future! Barbara Towles

WE CONTACTED HUNT TREE SERVICE FOR AN ESTIMATE (ALONG WITH A COUPLE OTHER TREE SERVICE FIRMS) FOR THE REMOVAL OF A VERY LARGE WATER OAK. THE TREE WAS "WEDGED" IN ANOTHER TREE THAT KEPT IT FROM FALLING ONTO THE GROUND. ALL THE ESTIMATES WERE WITHIN $300.00 OF ONE ANOTHER BUT HUNT'S TIME FRAME WAS BETTER FOR US AND WE HAD USED THEM BEFORE. THEY SHOWED UP WHEN SCHEDULED AND TOOK CARE OF THE TREE IN A TIMELY, PROFESSIONAL MANNER. WE WERE VERY PLEASED. BARBARA M. TOWLES
Description of Work: WE NEEDED A VERY LARGE WATER OAK REMOVED. WE HAD SEVERAL ESTIMATES AND HUNT'S SEEMED TO BE THE BEST VALUE. WE HAD USED THEM BEFORE A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, ALSO FOR TREE REMOVAL AND FOUND THEM VERY TO BE EFFICIENT . WILL DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN IF THE NEED ARISES. BARBARA M. TOWLES

We haven’t had them to come out. But we really liked the quote price. We will be using them when we can afford it. The quote amount was $900. I had got another proposal and it was twice that. He just seemed professional. My husband talked to him. He seemed like he knew what he was talking about. My husband said that he was willing to use him. He came out the same day or the next day that we called him.

I looked them up on the telephone book. They were really good. They were in and out the no time. They were wonderful. I thought they were very reasonable. They were quick and cleaned up really well. They hauled away the tree as well. I would rate them high overall. I will definitely use them again in the future.

First off they started a couple of weeks late because of other jobs that they were working on. It started off okay when they were taking down the front single tree but when they got to the two trees in the back is when the trouble began. They got behind and started doing a rush job because they had to call an exterminator for the bees. Which is fine but when questioned shouldn't this have been anticipated if you have been in business for so long. They dropped a large branch that was heavy enough to break the underground sprinkler system, that same branch hit the frame of the porch and we now have two dents in it. There are oil stains sprayed along the fence where the trees were and the water pump was broken. The back gate's alignment is off and when they brought the wood chipper to the back they ran over the metal birdbath. After removing all the wood clippings from the back two trees we found a piece of one of the tree trunks sticking above the ground by about eight inches. Now, we have to remove that ourselves. We called a few times and spoke to the owner Mr. Hunt who said he would come over and fix the dents in the porch and look at the water pump but he never showed up. Mr. Hunt said he wouldn't reimburse us for $167.50 for what it cost to have the sprinkler fixed because he gave us a extremely generous discount because we were military. What he quoted us for what the tree cutting would have been and what we got it for was close to 50 % off. Somehow we do not believe this because in all our years in the military we have never received more than 15 %. We would have rather paid more to have it done right but really we should have gone with a different company. I wrote an email to Mr. Chris Hunt and he had reasons why he wasn't able to come by yet and would but still it has been 5 months and he hasn't showed. This company does not practice good customer service or quality and I wonder if they treat their yards like they did ours.

Description of Work: C. Hunt presented himself well at the time of the estimate on 6-1. On 6-3 I called him to say i wanted him to provide the service. 6-7 I called him to say the Homeowner Assoc. had okayed the tree work.. Multiple calls to schedule were made with no response. Finally scheduled the work for 7-7 but he was a no show and didn't call. Rescheduled for 7-8 and arrived about 2 hours late. Most of the work was done this day (3 pines removed and stumps ground; some of the trimming done) and he was to come back the next day to finish the job. His employees were very good workers...no problem with them. Foolishly I paid him even though I know better. I made multiple calls to find out when he would come back to complete the comtract but the calls were not returned (a fact he seemed almost proud of on 7-8 when I last saw him......he said he had 34 unanswered calls). After multiple unanswered calls i sent him an email indicating i did not want him on my property again. Needless to say I have not heard from him. I looked on the BBB info and complaints about this company were much the same as mine. Also saw the same type of complaints on Angie's List. NOTE: The address listed above is not the address used when the above occured. The names are the same.

Hunt Tree Service contracted to cut down and remove a pine tree and the stump from my yard in September 2010. They did cut down the tree, however, due to their oversight they were unable to remove the stump at that time. I then spent numerous unanswered attempts to contact them via phone and email over the ensuing 3 months to have them finish the job and remove the stump, to no avail. I ultimately had to get someone else to remove the stump at an additional cost which Hunt Tree Service indicated they would only reimburse me $50 for a job that cost $150. The owner indicated in an email on December 14th that he had his accountant issue me a check for $50 and that I should receive it that week. In a follow-up email on January 6th, I informed him that I had still NOT received the check I should have received almost three full weeks earlier. As of this posting (June 3rd, 2011) I have still not received the 'promised' check for $50. You can decide for yourself, but I found Hunt Tree Service to be unreliable, untrustworthy, and dishonest.

They did a lot of work for a very reasonable price. My only difficulty with them is that they still have a couple of things to finish off which are rather minor, but, I can't seem to get them back to finish up those things even though I owe him 40 dollars. However, his crew was very good; they came out, started the work and finished it in two days.

Mr. Hunt provided an estimate before this job was started in Jun 2008. We did not hear back from him. In January 2009, the insurance company warned me that they were dropping policies for homes that were in bad shape. An assessor determined that my house needed work with the roofing, exterior and tree branches and the home owner's policy would be dropped if I did not comply by July 25th. I called Mr. Hunt and they came around in June 2009 to start work on the roof. He said he could not work on the exterior trim while the roof was in progress. Hunt's is also a tree service so we also hired him to trim branches that were close to the house. They took the $1,287.50 advanced payment and completed about half of the job. Then I did not hear from him again for some time, despite numerous attempts to contact him (I failed to leave messages but he usually answers his phone). Fast forward to July 24. I get the final notice from the insurance company. I got a hold of Mr. Hunt and he said he would take care of things. He called the insurance company, according to an assessor who came around that day, and told them that he would be completing the work. This caused them to delay dropping the insurance. The assessors will return tomorrow to take pictures again. I am afraid that the incomplete work might cause them to change my mind so I am finishing what Mr. Hunt started. I am a 51 year old single woman who teaches at an art college here. My wrists are frail from carpal tunneling syndrome and this is very h****** me. All he had to do was say "find someone else" and I would have gladly done so since it did not appear as if he could finish the job on this critical deadline.
