Hello, I requested an estimate for fixing my sagging floor and even if this was not typically their specialty, they have come out the very next day and provided me with detailed information on the problem with my floor. They suggested to contact a general contractor as I did not have a foundation problem but they took the time to explain exactly what the issue was and what likely was causing it. They also took the time to check something else in my garace floor. Very prepared and informative. Even if I will not use their services this time, I will definitely contact them or suggest them whenever I or someone I know has a foundation problem.

Had a major leak in basement. 6 yr old home with 12 ft high concrete foundation walls in basement. Water flowed in like a fountain and we had to set up a makeshift device to catch the water and sump pump it out a window. Trotter came out the next day, inspected the situation and suggested a dry tec sub floor drain system draining outside and vapor barriors on the wall. Work was completed the following week. Very professional, very clean. All floors were covered with thick plastic, with plastic walls surrounding the work areas. These guys know what they are doing. I don't know if this was the best price but I know that they are good. I didn't shop around for quotes.I knew a neighbor that used them after all else failed and they were very happy. No hard sales, no BS. From the initial sales quote from John to the actual work by supervisor Jim and his crew they were great. I used my Angies list coupon and saved 10%. Thanks Angie :). I will have them back to complete the other section of my basement at a later time. That part is about twice as big as the first, but no problems there yet.

They had to regrade out front. The put a barrier up on the outside. It was a big job and they did great. Our basement wall was bulging from the water pressure outside and they fixed it all up. They were very detailed with the work they did. They were on time and they cleaned up the mess afterwards.

I would absolutely recommend them and they had a better system. There is absolutely no moisture that can get in. They have got a cap system that nobody else has. They were very professional. We recommended them to our son whose basement was flooded. My son waited several months to get them. I have recently recommended them to two other friends who had problems.

These guys are great and fair. They came out looked at the basment of a home that I am buying. They took the time to understand exactly how I planned on using the basment ( to give me the best and cheapest option). I cannot speak to their service as of yet, but I am on planning having them back out to perform the service once I close on my new home.
Description of Work: Service has not been performed yet, as I have not purchased the home. Once I do I am going to have them come back out and perform service.

The guy was very professional. However, their price was the highest of the three quotes that we got. The man came out to take measurements. They even gave us a drawing of what they would do. If the price had been a bit less, we would've used them. We just couldn't spend that kind of money. Everybody around here speaks highly of this company. I haven't heard any negative things about them. He was here for quite a while. He knew what he was talking about.
Description of Work: We had foundation and drainage issues. They gave a quote for work that would involve rebuilding a basement wall and putting in a drain. The job would also involve ground regrading.

I had a very small leak in my crawlspace. Trotter identified a dripping pipe that was subsequently repaired by another company. Trotter offered other possible causes for the leak, since the pipe wasn't in the exact spot of the leak, and provided different options but weren't convinced that anything else really needed to be done. They didn't pressure me to move forward with more costly solutions. They just told me to watch the area and let them know if the problem still existed.

He was running late but called to let us know so no problem there. I liked that he was honest about the fact that there was no work he needed to do for us and pointed us in the right direction to find someone who could help us.
Description of Work: We did not end up needing them. We thought we had a foundation / slab problem. The guy who came out looked at it and said that we do not and that it is an above ground leak. He told us to test different spots with a hose so we can find where the leak is. We did just that when he left and figured it out.

The work was done when they said it would be and the price seemed reasonable compared to one other quote we had received. We've not had any problems with water seepage since the work was done. My only complaint (a minor one) is the quality of work they did on the diverters (downspout extensions). They "reattached" the diverters with a shabby strand or two of electrical tape that was flimsy at best and looked awful. Sure enough, the diverters came off with the first hard rain. We've reattached them with duct tape -- still looks shabby, but seems to be holding up. Otherwise, we're happy with the work.
Description of Work: Last spring torrential rains caused water seepage right at the floor-line into our laundry room and garage. The water ruined the flooring in the laundry room. Trotter came out and recommended that a barrier wall and French drain be installed just outside that side of the house. They also recommended diverting the flow of the downspouts (our diverters had come off the downspouts) coming off of the gutters on that side of the house and creating a swale in the sideyard to divert water away from the house. They said they could reattach the diverters that we already had that weren't staying on the downspouts very well.

The bank wanted the company we use for this work to guarantee the job for a life time. It means that the property should be able to be transferable from owner to owner. Trotter specialized in that kind of work which means once they come and do the job the work should be for a life time. I did not go with them because of the bid they give. They were equivalent to the other companies on work and quality of service though. I shall use them to get another quote from them.

They did a wonderful job! On the day of installation, they were punctual and courteous. They were great at working with my husband concerning the outside placement of the tubing where the water would disperse. They went the extra mile and installed tubing in a hard-to-reach area. They went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. We also got quotes from Aquaguard who I really liked as well...Aquaguard actually told us they would not do the job if we did not put in 2 bulkhead stabilizers...the Trotter salesperson said that only 1 was necessary. Aquaguard told us that 2 were critical in order to do the job correctly. We even re-questioned the Trotter salesperson asking him if he was sure that 1 was adequate and he said that only 1 was needed. He assured us, however, that an installation person would review everything prior to installation and if 2 bulkhead stabilizers were necessary, they would install 2. When the Trotter installation person came to inspect everything prior to installation, the installation person agreed with Aquaguard and told us 2 bulkhead stabilizers were necessary. Trotter gave us reduced pricing to install the 2nd bulkhead stabilizer since they had originally told us it wasn't necessary. Although I felt that the Trotter salesperson was fairly knowledgeable, I felt more comfortable with the Aquaguard salesperson - when he was so adamant about the 2nd bulkhead stabilizer, I respected the fact they would only do the job with 2 bulkhead stabilizers on their quote. However even after giving us discounts, Aquagard wasn't close to the Trotter price. Of course, this was partially due to Aquaguard quoting 2 bulkhead stabilizers instead of 1. In the end, we paid alot less money going with Trotter than with Aquaguard, and in the end, I was extremely happy with Trotter. They were willing to admit their error prior to installation (concerning the number of bulkhead stabilizers) and they weren't going to do an incorrect installation just because it wasn't on the original quote. They were wonderful to work with and they were price competitive. The best thing - we don't have water standing in our crawlspace anymore! I would definitely use them again!
Description of Work: Trotter waterproofed our crawlspace. They put in bulkhead stabilizers, trenched out a path for the water to flow and filled with rock. They put in a black plastic vapor barrier and a sump pump. They did a wonderful job!

I cannot speak highly enough of this company. Our basement began to flood badly a few months before the "great flood" of Sept. 2009. There was some question of exactly where the water had flowed from. We got three estimates, with drastically different recommendations. After choosing Trotter, and before they could start the work, a deluge again flooded the area, and our basement. This time, we caught it during, and could see that Trotter had made the correct evaluation about where the problem really was - the others had missed a major issue. They came out again, on short notice, to re-eval just before the work was to be done, and recommended we add one feature to the system - this was very little added to the cost. The team that came out were professional and cleaned up thoroughly after themselves. My husband, who works out of the home, was still able to do so while they were here. A few times that late summer and fall I'd run down and check - and the system was working perfectly. Since installation, we've had Mason come out and check another issue. Even though it resulted in no additional work for them, he was polite and spent time explaining what would need to be done. There was a wait between the agreement and getting the work done given the ending of the drought and the sudden increase in calls, that seemed to be reasonable. Getting it done right was worth the wait.
Description of Work: They put in a french drain (I think that's what it's called) and their system along a front and back wall of the house, including working around a retaining wall, sealed the walls along the drain area, and put in two sump pumps. They have also provided 2 other evaluations and determined that they were not really within the scope of their services, but spent time explaining what could be done.

Even though it took months to get on their schedule and I spent much more than I wanted to, I was very pleased after seeing the finished product! They had a crew of 6 men who worked for 3-1/2 days. The first thing they did was put up floor-to-ceiling plastic sheeting in basement and in the stairway to the living area to cut down on dust. This made a huge difference considering the amount of jack hammering they had to do. No dust made it to the living area. The workmanship is excellent--The neighbors that came to see the basement were very impressed. The first time it rained after Trotter finished, it became very obvious that I wouldn't have any more problems with water at the walk-out basement door. Prior to them installing the steel beam to reinforce the kitchen & dining room floor, plates and glasses rattled when you walked in the dining room. All that stopped after Trotter was done. The musty smell of the crawlspace was completely gone after they waterproofed and encapsulated the crawl space. All dampness in the basement is gone. They did a great job of cleaning up the basement when they were finished! I consider the $20,000 money well spent (and that was after the Angie's List 10% discount) after seeing the finished product!
Description of Work: Had flood damage from the September, 2009 heavy rains. Water came in from the walk-out basement door, from where basement floor meets the outside wall, and from the crawlspace dirt (house has 3/4 basement). Had about an inch of water in the basement. Trotter regraded the outside area around the walk-out basement; Installed waterproofing across the entire front wall of the basement; Built a retaining wall in the crawlspace; Installed an industrial grade sum pump with battery back-up; Totally enclosed the crawlspace; Installed a whole-house dehumidifier in the basement; Installed an 18-foot steel beam in the crawlspace to support the kitchen and dining room which were sagging about an inch; Installed a heavy duty vapor barrier along the entire basement wall.

I have a fracture in my basement wall and it has opened up a little bit. They came out right away and looked at it. They were here on time. The first thing that he told me was that I could get away with doing nothing. He thought that I would be safe; I could watch it for a while, and I may never have to do anything. He didn?t try to sell me anything. He told me what they could do and about what it would cost. I have decided to get it done, and so they are going to be out next Friday to do the work.

They did not do an estimate since I was told they don't do foundation repair unless they are doing waterproofing.
Description of Work: After looking on Angie's list and looking at Trotter's website, I called Trotter to get an estimate on a foundation issue. I was told that they only do waterproofing - they do foundation repair only if necessary to complete the waterprooofing job. This is contrary to the information on their website which says they do basement waterproofing AND foundation repair. I'm confused.

They gave me a projection on the cost and never looked at what had to be done. They told us that they would make a cement trough which was least of the problems that we had. They were very responsive and professional. However, they failed to do a complete inspection. As a result, they couldn?t find the problems which led to so much of flooding. I would not use them again in the future.

Excellent Integrity! Greg McManious from Trotter arrived on time, then inspected the area, and ran tests after asking thorough questions. He was congenial and explained everything in detail, then simply stated that there was no need for foundation repair. In fact, Greg even offered to return at a later date after we completed some other work in that area of the home to inspect it again as a courtesy to "give us peace of mind" about our concern with the foundation. In researching the foundation repair industry online, I've learned that consumers express many concerns about firms that are simply out to rack up charges and get work from 'unsuspecting, concerned homeowners'. For this reason, I am recommending them unequivocally and can honestly say that this experience alone is worth my annual membership fee to Angie's List. Greg and Trotter's should be commended with a Page of Happiness nomination in spite of the fact that I didnt make a purchase - their honesty kept me from making an unnecessary purchase this time so I have already referred them to friends. Such virtue should be recognized in this day and age.
Description of Work: I had an area of concern on one of our floors and believed it was a foundation issue. Prior to joining Angie's List I contacted other non-Angie's list foundation repair firms, but kept feeling like they were taking a cookie-cutter, high sales, high emotion approach to sell me thousands of dollars of repair work. I'm glad I trusted my gut and researched Angie's List to get other opinions.
