Showed up for quote ontime and very professional- took measurements all around the house. Offered a great heavy duty solution with lifetime guarantee. These guys are definately the 'Mercedes' of foundation repair in Atlanta. Only problem was I could only afford the 'Honda' version of repairs. I accepted a quote from another company at less than half the cost, which used wood posts and wood beams instead of steel as spec'd out by Trotter. Won't last as long, but it met my budget at the time. Would recommend Trotter Company to get the job done, when you have the budget to get it done right!
Description of Work: I requested a quote to repair sagging floor joists and walls, and uneven floors.

He was thorough and efficient, and honest. He inspected the area and showed me that it was safe and normal. My home structure is intact and so is my checkbook. I seriously appreciate his information and will call if I ever need any work done.

For major jobs when reputation and name-recognition is very important, Trotter may the way to go. They have an excellent reputation and are one of the best at what they sell.
Description of Work: We found Trotter on Angie's List, and they also came highly recommended by our real estate agents who said they're a well-known company with a great reputation among Realtors. The salesperson was punctual, courteous and professional. However, we did not hire them because their bid was almost twice the price of the two other bids we received (over $4000 for interior waterproofing along a 10-foot wall and an exterior sump pump), and I didn't feel like the salesperson spent much time looking at our problem to find any solutions besides the one he was selling.

We had a catastrophic flood caused by a builder's negligence on a project next door to our house. Mike Trotter, the owner, personally came out right away and has been by our side ever since, providing us with total accessibility and support through this very difficult time. He has been a true ally, professional, and expert in his field. His service is worth every penny.

They were very professional throughout the process and did a great job. The actual workmen were very punctual and did a wonderful job of cleaning up their mess when they were finished. If we decide to do further work on our basement, they will be the company we choose and we would recommend them highly to anyone with similar problems.
Description of Work: Our basement was getting wet when we had heavy rain. The downspouts from the front of the roof were connected under the front porch to a rusted out and badly designed spout. They repaired the problem.

Asked for a consultation and estimate due to a little water in the basement in an area where we hadn't had water before. The representative gave me a plan that would involve tearing out the entire basement wall, including a built-in bathroom, and installing a system costing several thousand dollars, plus my own cost and time of putting the bathroom back in. When asked for simpler solutions (including a recommendation on the gradation outside the house, which I could tell as a layman might be problem), the representative didn't offer any solutions. It was an extreme solution for a small problem.
Description of Work: Consultation.

This was a huge job. The guys came on time and they stayed late everyday working until it was done. Sometimes they did work without the supervisor on sight, but he came by often enough that we were comfortable with it. The quality there was absolutely excellent. I am very pleased with them and I would recommend them to anyone unconditionally.

Very well. We had already ripped up the carpet so he could see what was going on. We expected to see a crack where the moisture was but there wasn't any. Trotter's guy (don't remember his name now) took a look at the slab and the perimeter of the house to check for any drainage problems. He didn't find anything and we decided the problem may just be the dog or some other unknown issue. He suggested we may want to waterproof the cement, which is probably what we're going to do. I wanted to report this experience because Trotter's guy gave us great advice, was able to admit that he didn't know what the problem was exactly, and obviously did not try to sell us services we didn't need. This, to me, shows true honesty, which is invaluable in any contractor. If we ever have a concrete issue in the future we will definitely call Trotter. Also, when we called another concrete company for an estimate, they didn't do the kind of work we needed and they recommended that we call Trotter.
Description of Work: Came out for a free estimate on repair of our slab foundation. We'd been having some moisture problems and our carpet was mildewing.

I was not pleased that the Trotter representative put in a hard sell from the moment, that I met him. Subsequent consultation with other drainage people ,suggest that Trotter will go very quickly to the more expensive solution. This more expensive solution will, no doubt, fix the problem, but I did not get the impression that they were likely to work with the homeowner to find "good enough" solutions for the problem at hand.
Description of Work: I asked for advice on a crawlspace with some persistent moisture, due to relatively poor drainage in the yard on one side of our house.

Came out and talked to us about our concrete problems. Said they could fix it for around $1500, but thought their fix would be overkill. Recommended another way to fix the problems that should cost about $400. Said if the other company's estimate was too high, to call Trotter back and they would work with us. Very honest and knowledgeable.

The serviceman arrived on time and found where the water problem was coming from. The channel and sump pump seem to be doing a good job of preventing water into the basement along with the underground extension to the drain pipe outside. They should have communicated better because I would have been willing to pay extra to have the extension come out in a different location. All and all, his treatment seems to have stopped the problem.
Description of Work: They made an interior drainage channel in my 8 x 10 foot furnace room and put a sump pump in that room. They also put an underground pipe attachment on the downspout from the gutters.

He was able to determine that the leak was due to exterior cracks around a window and not due to foundational issues. He recommended I hire a handyman to fill in all the cracks, as that route would be cheaper than having Trotter do it, and he didn't charge me a dime for the hour he spent diagnosing the problem. I was extremely pleased with the service and professionalism. We have a rental house that will require weatherproofing and Trotter is who I'm going to call.
Description of Work: We noticed evidence of water damage and mold in our basement and requested that Trotter determine the cause and provide an estimate. The representative made a thorough examination, pulling back carpet and removing baseboard and some drywall (with my permission).

Trotter's representative gave me much more than an estimate. He gave me quite a few tips for my basement remodel in general, as well as suggestions for raising the grade on the side of my basement not considered in the waterproofing quote. Overall, I was very satisfied with the visit, and although I'll be getting other quotes, I'm inclined to send my business to Trotter.

Due to a water leak in basement, I obtained quotes from several companies. Quotes came in at $10-16K. I called the Trotter company because the description of their services on Angie's List indicated that they would check landscaping, drainage, etc. I was hoping they would find the source of the leak and not just suggest an expensive fix. When I called to make the appointment for a consultation, I requested that they NOT send anyone if they didn't have an alternative fix for less than $10K. The representative, Rick, was very nice. Turns out though that they do not check irrigation and landscaping (they sub that out). I was very disappointed that the quote and fix were the same as others. My husband and I finally found the source of the leak and fixed it for $25.00 and a day's labor.

TROTTER COMPANY DOES EXTENSIVE LANDSCAPE DRAINAGE TO CORRECT POOR DRAINAGE AND WE DO NOT SUB THAT WORK OUT. TROTTER COMPANY DOES NOT DO IRRIGATION AT ALL AND WE DO NOT SUB IT OUT. WE MUST LOOK AT EACH JOB ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS TO DETERMINE WHAT IS NEEDED FOR A LONG TERM FIX. AFTER TALKING WITH HER, IT WAS AGREED THAT IF THE $25 FIX (WHICH OF COURSE HAS NO WARRANTY)FAILS, WE WILL COME BACK TO REASSESS THE PROBLEM. MIKE TROTTER

I was very impressed with the work that they did. It was a messy job because they had to jack-hammer the edge of the basement floor in order to install the new drainage. They cleaned up everything when they were finished. I did not know what to expect beforehand, but I was very impressed with the whole process. I would highly recommend this company. For the amount of work that had to be done, I think the price was very fair.

First off, I want to start by saying if you're going to do any basement/crawlspace work, don't call the 2nd place foundation repair company, call Trotter Co. By the far the best, and here's why. 1. I think the materials they used to do this are very high quality, and they come with the ''life of the structure warranty''. 2. They explained everything about pros of a closed crawlspace as well as the cons of a vented crawlspace. The consultation was informative and they explained everything that was going to be done. 3. The installation went fantastic. The crew was prompt both days, they did the job quickly and probably better than anyone else can, and they cleaned up after each day of work. Adrain Falagian was my coordinator and he kept me up to date and informed during the process, good guy too. 4. Lastly, my heating/air unit hardly has to work to keep the house at the right temperature and NO MORE MOLD! The crawlspace is so much better you could sleep in there.
Description of Work: I got the closed crawlspace system done. First they install pipes for a drain and run it out onto a low spot in your yard. (Don't worry it's all underground where you can't see it. Next they start laying a vapor barrier over the muddy ground and walls which stops harmful radon gas from seeping up, plus it's so much cleaner. Third they seal the crawlspace vents up from the inside with foam insulation and they put ''great stuff'' foam spray all over to make a good seal. Lastly they install a dehumidifier which will kill mold and other allergens, or at least keep them very minimal. There may be some other things that I didn't see but those are the main points I noticed.

The Trotter folks were amazingly conscientious. We were able to schedule an appointment easily. They confirmed this the day before, and the representative was on time and very professional. He crawled all over the crawl space of the house and looked everywhere to be certain of what needed to be done. I was given an estimate of the work needed before he left, along with a wealth of information on the company. After waiting for another company that came out to give us an estimate (never came), we called Trotter to come do the work. A project lead came out and took another look to be certain of the scope of work, I signed the contract, and on the date we scheduled, the workers were here. They were timely, polite, and professional. They explained what they were doing. They kept everything clean and left the garage in better condition than they found it (and there was at one point MOUNDS of red clay!!) The price was exactly as agreed, and everything went off without a hitch.
Description of Work: We had some settlement in the garage slab of our 33 yr old home that needed to be stabilized and repaired. Trotter bored 5 holes in the concrete, put reinforcing steel into bedrock, and lifted and filled with concrete to secure.

I had asked the company to come and look at the basement in my house to see if it needed any waterproofing. Ken Knowles who came out was very courteous, knowledgeable, and honest. He told me I did not need to worry about anything right now as there was no active water seeping into the basement. He told me what I could do to stop any minute traces of leakage in the cinder blocks. I would definitely call them again, if needed!

No work performed. Punctual, friendly, knowledgeable, and with integrity. I interviewed 2 crawl space companies- as I have a little moisture in my crawl space. The trotter Rep- gave me some suggestions and said their clean space system would be overkill and not necessary. My wife and I appreciate the honesty, suggestions, and candor. We had interviewed a competitor the previous day and he was ready to sell us on a 5k system that was not needed. Thanks again- Trotter and if we need your services- you will be the one we call!
