Our 40 gallon water heater was installed when the house was built in 1994.Our termite control noticed that there was a small leak coming from it, during our annual inspection for termites, in early April of this year. He advised that we should keep an eye out for the leak possibly increasing. We did and by early May we noticed a puddle. We had used FitzGerald and Sons Plumbing Inc. on two other earlier jobs and were satisfied, but we just recently joined Angie's list. So I decided to see how they fared on the list of plumbers. I was pleasantly surprised to find they were one of the top rated plumbing firms in our area and had very good reviews. So I called them shortly after they opened at 8:00 AM and was told that they had an appointment scheduled in our area and would come over the same morning after they finished there. About 10:00 AM I received a call saying they were on there way if it was OK with me. It was and they arrived about five minutes later. Rusty and Walt already had a 40 Gallon water heater aboard their truck and rusty quoted a price of $789 for the job of replacing the old water heater - Total. I had been on the internet before they arrived and found that prices for this job would run between $550 and $750 in our area, so although it was a bit on the high side I decided to go with it and asked for the Senior discount which is 5%. They agreed and the final price for everything, including taxes, labor, etc. was $744.20. By 12:30 PM the water heater was hooked up, tested and the job was finished. They cleaned up the work area and wheeled the old water heater into my storage shed at my request. I will later take it to a local metals recycler and get aound $24 for it. Rusty and Walt were professional, knowledgeble, courteous and efficient. They did not seem to mind my watching them as they worked nor answering my questions about various aspects of the job. I will continue to use FitzGerald and Sons for all my future plumbing jobs and have, and will in the future, reccommend them to my friends and aquaintances.

It seemed like our water pressure was always low. We called Fitzgerald's Plumbing to come take a look and see what they found. After performing a complete inspection of our system, they informed us that the Hot Water Heater was deteriorating and needed to be replaced. It was over 12-years old and was flushing sediment into the lines clogging up the strainer on the water taps and clogging up the shower heads. There was also an old water filter in the lines that was no longer in use. They replaced the water heater, flushed out all the lines, removed the old water filter and the lines no longer needed, and installed a new pressure control valve. Everything works great! The technician was on time and professional. Fitzgerald's may not be the cheapest plumbers available, but I believe they are the best in the area. Remember, you get what you pay for! :-)

You guys have done it again, GREAT JOB!!! I called late Wednesday afternoon to report the problem and an appointment was set for first thing Thursday morning. Like clockwork Rusty called to confirm our appointment and arrived in short order. When Rusty arrived I described the problem, he took a look, and then provided me with a very reasonable price for the repair. Once I agreed he started immediately. I provided the primary supplies as I initially thought this could be a "do it yourself" project. In about a half hour Rusty had removed the damaged parts, smoothed out the foundation surface for an even setting (the lack thereof believed to have caused the originally problem), reset and resealed the toilet to "like new" condition. He even saved me some money as a few of the supplies I purchased from Home Depot were not needed. As soon as the problem arose I knew just who I would call based on the quality, professionally, and courtesy that I was provided last time. Thank you guys and keep up the good work!
Description of Work: The toilet in my half bath was loose from the floor. Apparently the flange had broken in two. The toilet needed to be removed, broken flange removed from pipe, reset and reseal toilet.

I called them, they said that they would be here in the morning and they were here in the morning. There were two guys and they very professional, very friendly. They had to go back to the shop to get a part. I had a clog in the entrance to the septic tank and they put in the clean out behind my house. They did a good job and they did that in less than two hours. There was a discount and was old guy’s discount which I did not like paying it all but it was something that I could take care of myself. Their price was reasonable and fair. I have recommended them to three people already.

Rusty Barnes provided a very prompt courtesy call to inform me he was on the way and how far away he was. He showed up just as expected, very prompt, and ready to work. He had a great demeanor and personality. I showed Rusty the damage I was concerned with and he knew immediately what to do, provided a quote, and once I mentioned I had found his company on Angie's List he issued a 5% discount on the spot. I gave him the go ahead and he snapped right to work. It was awesome, Rusty dug right in, cut what needed cutting, made the necessary repairs, and even left the level of the cleanout pipe more flush with the ground to prevent any recurrences of the incident which caused this problem. He completed the repairs in maybe 30 minutes, if that long. Mr. Barnes is a true professional and I'm glad to have had he respond to my service call. Thank you. *Note about my rating the price a "C"* Though I am very satisfied with the service, I felt the price was a little steep in general. However, it was good & quick work performed by a good guy, plus he cut out the 5%, so taking everything into account overall I think the price was fair as opposed to Excellent or Good.

Usually Angie's list is very accurate and right on time. Not this time. So, I take the blame for this one. I should have called a septic company. But I really did not know what the problem was. All I knew is that i had water leak in the backyard. anyway, i had a bad experience with Fitzgerald. If they found it was a septic tank problem or drain field problem they should have took the 65.00 service call fee and directed me to a septic company. Instead of taking 542.00 from me without fixing a darn thing. They wanted to come back the next day with a camera to look inside my system for more money without offering to fix anything. Facts: 1. Charged 135.00 per hour. Not flat rate per ad. 2. They wasted time pumping my dosage tank 3. They left twice to get supplies while charging me by the hour. How you gonna pump out my system with little vacuum? They went back twice to get more vacuums. I argued with Gary and he reluctantly reduced the price to 542.00 from 670.00. 4. They installed a check-valve that blow off and it is still stuck in my system, hence, the camera the next day. MAIN PROBLEM I HAVE WITH FITZGERALD'S IS THAT: ONCE THEY DIAGNOSIS THE PROBLEM, THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY DO NOT THAT TYPE OF WORK. THEY SHOULD HAVE STOPPED AND RECOMMENDED A SEPTIC COMPANY. BUT SCOTT ASSURED ME THAT HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING AND I BELIEVED HIM. WRONG! Resolution: bring the camera out to my home and finish the job for the amount i have already paid. at least come and get the check valve out my system.

Fitzgerald and Son's Plumbing would be glad to come out and remove the check valve under warranty. Please understand that many houses that have sewer backed up can be sewer line leading into the tank or the leach field lines on the other side of the tank. Until we attempt to run a snake it is impossible to tell where the problem is. It is a process of elimination. Please note that we already reduced our invoice by 20 percent to please customer.

There are emails as well as entries in my phone diary from 6 December 2010 until 10 May 2011 relating to this job by Fitzgerald and Sons Plumbing. I also have photographs and scanned documents supporting my experience. The job was done based on the advice and opinions of Fitzgerald personnel. I learned a great deal through this experience. The biggest mistake was not asking to see the building permit before the work was started. Paying Fitzgerald and Sons in full prior to the job being finished to my satisfaction was also a mistake. Throughout the process, I repeatedly had to ask for items to be finished. When I found something amiss and a Fitzgerald employee returned, that person would make an adjustment on one item and then leave without looking at anything else. I paid for the bulk of the work on 7 February and there was a toilet in the middle of the Master bedroom until 8 March. There are still unplugged copper pipes sticking out of the walls of under-sink cabinets. My concern is that the uncapped old pipes have a known leak that is open to the ground under the slab. Insects may find their way into my home via an open pipeline. Incredibly enough, one set of pipes was covered, but the installer did not cover a second set under the same sink. A reinstalled toilet has pieces of connection tubing rather than a single connector, a plugged copper pipe remains protruding from the wall and an additional hole was made for the new pipe. Why not cut and cap the original pipes short enough to allow the holes in the wall to be patched? We are talking about an inch or so of pipe. I do not mind post construction clean-up, but cutting copper pipe without the proper tools is an entirely different task. A Fitzgerald installer replaced a tub faucet in one of the bathrooms with a cheaper model and then took the one that matched the fixture set. Switching to an easier to install faucet was ok, but taking the original was not. One of the bathrooms has green board installed so that the edges are different depths from side to side. Some remaining tile edges are too damaged to leave in place. The fixtures are not reinstalled. Of the 21 tiles removed, only 7 are left. The consistent pattern is a lack of professional concern about quality of work or customer satisfaction. I hold the current owners of the company responsible. My advice for others looking at plumbing repairs is to contact the building department responsible for your area and ask about which permits are necessary for a job. Have an approved inspector look at the job before any demolition is done and prior to the covering of any of the code impacted work. There are home inspection companies that will supervise construction for you. It is well worth the fee.
Description of Work: I hired Fitzgerald and Sons Plumbing to reinstall a tankless water heater in the attic and to locate, evaluate and fix a water leak. After knocking holes in my walls to install all new plumbing to correct a leak, the installers told me that they would not relocate the Rennai tankless to the attic. Part of the price was to leave the work site walls smooth and completely ready for paint. To date, the job is not finished. I did pay for it in good faith assuming that the final punch list items would be completed. Fitzgerald personnel were in my home from 31 January through 8 March 2011. No building permit was drawn until after the walls and attic insulation covered their work. The person responsible for restoring the walls to paint-ready condition did not complete the job. No one from Fitzgerald Plumbing came to the work site to check that the finish work was done as promised. I made several phone calls and sent emails with photos to Mr. Fitzgerald in an attempt to have him do the right thing and finish this job. To date, his personnel have not finished this job.

They made two visits for two different jobs. They are very prompt and they fixed the problem. We had used them before so we knew we could trust them and they gave us good service. I didn't have estimates from anybody else but I feel they didn't overcharge us or anything for what they did. The price was more than I expected it to be.

As any other day, I started my day with a shower only to discover no hot water! I debated whether to replace the thermostats and elements myself (clearly watching far too much HGTV), so off to the local home improvement store to purchase the parts. I suddenly realized I did not have the appropriate tools to change the parts or for that matter if it would solve the problem. I immediately searched on Angie?s List for plumbers in my area with high ratings and excellent feedback. Fitzgerald & Sons scheduled an appointment the same day. Having recently purchase my first home (foreclosure), I had many questions. Ty was patient, professional and well versed providing a variety of cost saving recommendations and suggestions. After weighting the cost of replacing the parts, (not knowing the age or condition of the water heater) or purchasing a new unit with a warranty, I decided the later. He immediately went to work and behold within a couple hours?hot water again! I will call them again and recommend to friends and family.

Fitzgerald's was recommended by another plumbing company that wasn't able to complete our job. They were on time and very professional and friendly. There were able to have our pipes cleaned out by 1pm on the next day. They called in an emergency utility marking to start working on the same day they came to give their estimate. They had to dig a 75' trench from the street to our home and take our sod and bushes. They repaired some broken sprinkler heads so we didn't have to call our sprinker guy and came back the next day to reconnect some loose sprinkler pipes.

The plumber was friendly and handled things efficiently. He also gave us additional tips on a home plumbing project we were working on. The office got someone out to our house quickly, so we didn't have to go without water for long. I will use them again if I need a plumber.
Description of Work: Our main water switch was old and got stuck in the "off" position. We were without water, and they came out quickly and installed a new water main valve into our house.
They are top-notch and they do a wonderful job. I would recommend them 100%. They have even came out on a weekend and on Memorial Day to do repairs for no extra charge.

I had noticed a change in the water pressure from my kitchen faucet sometime ago and as part of an early "spring cleaning" effort, decided to get the problem resolved. So, as usual, I carefully researched service providers. I started with the Better Business Bureau and looked for companies located in my area. Then I narrowed them down to companies that had been members for a least five years with an A+ rating. I selected 3 companies and proceeded to read their reviews on Angie's List. I started by calling Fitzgerald and Sons and explained my problem to Gary. He was incredibly helpful over the phone, asking me relevant questions and guiding me to check the faucet aerator for debris. I was able to ascertain that the aerator was clear and that professional help was needed so I scheduled an appointment for Wednesday. At the time I made the appointment I was very specific in asking for an AFTERNOON appointment. On Wednesday, they still hadn't arrived or called by 3:00 p.m. so I called to inquire about the situation. I was told that they had called and left a message. I told them that I hadn't received a call and asked that they come the next day. After I hung up I found that they had called, at 8:00 a.m. !! I had received several calls that day, but hadn't checked my messages because I wasn't expecting the call until after lunch. I called them back and told them what had happened. I was told that they liked to take care of their furthermost appointments in the morning and work their way back to the office throughout the day. Frankly, I didn't care! If they couldn't handle the appointment in the time frame I had requested, they should have been explicit about that. The next day they call at about 10:30 a.m. and said that a serviceman was in the area and was it ok for him to come? I was actually NOT at home at the time, but I was nearby and arrived back at my home about 10 minutes before the serviceman did. I was INCREDIBLY annoyed to say the least!!! I had wasted a great deal of time waiting on them the day before and therefore needed to cram that day's to-do list into the next day's as well. AND all that was interrupted because they couldn't get a serviceman in my area after noon!!! Anyway, the technician's name was Tommy and I thought he did a thorough job of testing the faucet and the lines. After he installed the new faucet, he even went outside and checked the water pressure and gave me some very helpful advice. I was actually quite pleased with the performance of the work. As he worked, he put the parts of the old faucet into the box the new one had came from. I went to get my checkbook and when I returned, I was surprised to find that he had put the box with my old faucet in his truck. For one thing, I needed the information from the box for the warranty!!! And the other is, I knew that the faucet could be re-built by someone with the time and patience to do it, I just wasn't willing to pay almost $200 an hour to have that done. I'm assuming that the reason he took it back to the truck is not to easily dispose of it, because it is quite small and I could have done that myself. I expect that the company may re-build and re-sell them. That seemed VERY dishonest to me. Between the scheduling issue and the attempt to take my old faucet (which was less than two years old by the way), I probably won't use them again although it certainly wasn't because they didn't do a good job while they were here, because they did.

The plumber sent to our home was punctual and very professional. This was our third attempt to repair the tub with two previous plumbers brought in clueless to the workings of this brand of faucet. We had used this company nearly 10 years ago while residing near Peachtree City and in retrospect should have called them in the first place for our needs in Atlanta. We thought that they only served the Fayette County area and rediscoverd them on Angies List.

Located and fixed water main leak. The city water department informed me that I used 60,000 gallons last month and 2,000 gallons since yesterday. There was no evidence of a leak in my house or yard. Tony used expertise skill in locating the leak (or just got lucky) very quickly. He used cool sounding equipment to help locate the leak. He used a drop cloth to catch dirt as he dug up the suspected leak. He tested the entire water system to check for other possible leaks. After about 4-5 hours, the entire project was finished with nice detail such as covering exposed pipes with neoprene covering.
Description of Work: Local water services line leaking under concrete slab. Used specialized equipment to locate copper stub out. Capped line to test water service on yard side. Found yard side leak free. Rerouted water service through garage, securing it to wall. Capped old line and reconnected new one. Cleaned up work.

After a leak in the upstairs bathroom was identified the source of a leak into my downstairs ceiling, Fitzgerald was called. As I was unable to be at home when the plumber arrived, I left a blank check with a friend who completed it for the work accomplished. He states that the plumber went right to work and expertly addressed the problem, gave him an estimate of charges, which I authorized by telephone. Previous to finding and addressing this problem, I had consulted roofers and air conditioning technicians to determine the source of a wet inside ceiling.

Excellent. I was able to call Fitzgerald & Sons 1 week prior to schedule the exact time I would be home for the technician to come. Previously, I had an electrician install the proper electrical connection under the sink. The tech, Chris, tested the garbage disposal and had the entire unit installed within 1 hour. Additionally, he replaced some plumbing under my sink that was not to code/standard. He cleaned up any mess he made afterwards. Overall a professional job done by a professional tech. I would call Fitzgerald & Sons next time for any plumbing work I need to do.
