McEwan Flooring

I love working with Jim and McEwan floors! They have actually done several projects for me. He has worked in two personal homes installing all new hardwoods on the entire main levels and in the hallway upstairs and master bedroom. Additionally, McEwan floors has refinished the hardwoods in a rental home for me. Each time, Jim was patient with me when I took my time trying to decide what color stain. He often put several stain colors down for me to look at and decide on. He works diligently to get the job done as quickly as possible. Hardwood flooring install is a hard and messy process. I did not live in the home at the time the hardwoods were being installed so I can not attest to that experience. But if I had, I know that Jim would have worked very hard to complete the job as quickly as possible. Lastly, McEwan's crew is respectful and trustworthy, and I definitely recommend McEwan floors to install your real hardwoods at a fair price.

I’ve used Jim McEwan for four jobs - 3 homes had complete refinishing and one had just a screening and revisit. Jim’s prices are great and his quality is awesome. He’s old school- uses the oil based stains and top coats which are much more durable than water based in my experience. This takes him much longer to do the job but he doesn’t pay more than the guys who use water based and rush it in half a day. Very reliable and honest.

He came by to provide an estimate and was advised I was very interested in getting started. He took measurements and showed me samples of flooring from the back of the truck. which also had an empty beer can. He said he would provide a quote via email which I never received. When I called to inquire on the status of the quote after 2 days he acted as though he could not remember me. The insult was in a very disrespectful tone of voice dismissed me and said I will get back with you in a day or 2 and never heard from him again.

While Jim returned my call promptly, this turned into an incredibly frustrating experience. He said he was two minutes from my house and I said he could come over right then but he offered to come either Thursday or Friday. I agreed to Friday, he said he had a job in Dunwoody at 10 but could come late morning or early afternoon. I said that was fine and suggested he call me when he was on his way. He called me Thursday morning and asked to come over; I told him I had plans but would call him when I returned home. He called later afternoon when I was on another call so I did not answer. He texted "Reschedule?" and I texted back that we had agreed on Friday originally and asked if we could stay with that. He texted back he had a job in Dunwoody at noon. I reminded him of our conversation on Wednesday but would call the following week to reschedule. I've now realized I won't do that. If he can't keep his appointments straight, then I would prefer not to work with him.
