Well I had originally scheduled them to pack my items a day prior than my move date but no one showed up that day which I was not happy with, I ended up hiring some people from care.com to come and pack all of my items for me. Then the day I was to moved they told me that they had me scheduled for a pack and move all on the same day, which was not right. That would have taken for ever. They showed up on-time and loaded everything promptly however they forgot 5 large heavy boxes in one of the closets in the house that i moved from. That wasn't good because I ended up having to go back to the house and pick up on that stuff myself and I have back problems. They did not check the house thoroughly before they left. Not happy about that either. I was tempted to hire a different company but because it was last minute I just went ahead and let them do the move. I would not use them again because of all the problems that I had during this move.
Description of Work: This company came out to move me into my new home, I also had them move some things to my storage unit as well.

we are never happy when a customer is unsatisfied and do our best to insure they are. We did mistakenly schedule the pack and move on the same day. we do a walk thru of the entire house with the customer to insure nothing is left behind and the closet was missed by both of us. We would have made this right with the customer but were not given the opportunity and have just now found out about their unhappiness through this post.

This is the second time I've used them. I would never call anyone else to move us. Careful, punctual, and a great price. I didn't even bother to pay for insurance this time after our experience last time and sure enough nothing was damaged.

It went smoothly, even when the closing date was changed. My items were moved with care and nothing was broken nor missing.
Description of Work: Georgia Pack And Load Did an excellent job of moving me from Alpharetta, Georgia to Florida and even assisted me with some last-minute packing. They were very patient on time and professional. They quoted me the lowest of three vendors and I was worried when the contract was not completed in advance of the move. Well there was no need for worry,as the verbal quote was the Same when I signed the contact on the day of the move. When the closing was delayed by a few days, they were able to adjust their schedule to get me moved into my new home. I highly recommend Georgia Pack and Load.

The movers were great! the packers ... not so great. Partially filled boxes, hanging wardrobe items tossed in the bottom of regular boxes, hanging wardrobe items packed in wardrobe boxes so over stuffed as to make difficult to unpack and resulting in broken hangers, hanging file credenza's opened and personal files rifled and file folders missing, open containers of cooking oil packed sideways and upside down resulting in boxes of oily items, Deep fat fryer full of oil packed in a plastic bag and loaded on end with other kitchen appliances resulting in disaster, canned goods tossed/thrown into a box resulting in dented and damaged cans, mislabeled boxes resulting in many boxes being located in wrong rooms by movers, incomplete packing resulting in moving crew having to pack in the middle of load out and the list goes on. Additionally, there appears to be heavy emphasis on tipping as a form of job compensation such that the crews are compelled to mention redundantly, the importance and need to be tipped in order for the customer to receive correct and proper service, even though tipping or asking for tips is contrary to company policy. The quoted estimated price for the move was $2400 - $3000 while the actual cost was $4591, including tips. In the case of the rifled credenza and missing files, over 24 hours lapsed since I communicated this discovery to the company with no further response other than the initial response that the files MUST be at my home. With no appropriate response from this company for over 24 hours, I felt I had no recourse addressing these issues "in-house. Subsequently, the company has been in contact with me and all the issues have been discussed, shared, mitigated and, at potentially resolved to mutual satisfaction. Lessons learned: Communication is king. Never allow assumptions to enter in the course of negotiations and even if you think that have all of your bases covered, ask if there is anything that you have forgotten or neglected to ask. Moving companies do this far, far more often that people moving do and they are aware of the steps necessary for a smooth and successful operation. Thanks to Bruce and Sarah for their invaluable assistance in getting this mess sorted and straightened out.

First a summary of the major issues followed by details: - Actual cost was 50% higher than estimate - Movers were less than professional ? One physically intimidated my wife - Dispatcher hung up on me - Management was completely insensitive to the problems created by the movers ? a 26 foot truck stuck in our driveway that had to be towed All of the problems generally stemmed from the extremely poor estimate of time and manpower allocated for our move. The estimate was for 6 men working 9 hours it ended up being 13.5 hours. This caused the men to be completely exhausted at the end of the day and they made numerous errors causing extra damage to our property and problems for them. Additionally, we have a very long and steep driveway, the rented truck they used got stuck and this caused them to work extra hard and become even more exhausted. We were extra careful and requested they check our new home?s driveway when we got their estimate. They assured us that the driveway would not be an issue. We later found out from the tow truck driver that the prior occupants used the same company and their truck was stuck then as well. In addition to the 13.5 hours on the day we moved there were additional items that they could not fit on the two trucks we rented for the move (again poor estimate). These had to move the next day. They at least had the courtesy not to charge us for this additional effort, although, it did take the entire day to move these items. My day started at 9am when they told me to be at the house and then they did not arrive until close to 11am. When I called the dispatcher (Grady) to find out where the truck was on the second day, first, I was lied to about departures and arrivals then when I questioned him, he hung up on me. The movers from the second day started out very professional but as they got tired, the lead mover became very surly and physically intimidated my wife. As I mentioned before they got a 26 foot truck stuck in our driveway and abandoned it around 11:30pm and left it overnight. They did not make it a priority until late the next morning. The truck was finally removed around noon, after causing considerable damage to our driveway, lawn & irrigation system. The owner of the company (per - Georgia Pack & Load) came to our new home to pick up the truck and did not have the courtesy (or courage) to make an appearance. He snuck in got the truck and left without any apology. This is my reason for stating Management insensitivity to their customers. Overall, this is a organization they tries to look and act professional but does not care about their clients or their property.

Response from Georgia Pack & Load Moving & Storage
First off we are always saddened by less than positive reviews. We strive hard to make sure that all of our moves go as smoothly as possible and that our customers have a positive experience in the end. We know that moving can be stressful and we give 100% effort to reduce that stress as much as possible. In saying that we do need to have cooperation from everyone involved. On this particular move, we provided an estimate based on what the customer said that was going to be moved. A lot of the items we were told were going to be sold or gotten rid of since they were downsizing their home. Usually in these cases the homeowner does what they say, but on occasion we find this doesn’t happen. In this particular case, the customer did not do what they said and consequently their move did take longer. Since they didn’t get rid of these items when didn’t send enough trucks. But in an effort to try and show some compassion we sent a crew back out the 2nd day to get the remaining items for FREE. Any other company would have charged the customer for this service, but we tried to go the extra mile to show that we care. I can also promise you that our dispatcher did not hang up on this customer. There would be no reason for us to hang up as we were taking care of his issues. This is simply a false statement, as well as the fact that our movers tried to intimidate his wife. There would be no reason for the guys to intimidate his wife. They were getting paid to do a move. What could they be frustrated about? It is true that our truck did get stuck on his driveway and we apologized for this. Nobody ever expects to get stuck, but it happens and we got the truck towed from his driveway the next morning. The owners did not go get the truck unstuck, we sent a tow truck, so I do not know where he gets the story that we tried to duck him. We did scrape his driveway where the truck got struck, but it is merely a surface scratch that does not effect the driveway at all. But in his eyes we need to replace his 20 year old driveway at a cost of $5900.00 as well as he says we damaged his fence at a repair of $750.00 which there is no way we could have damaged it as the truck wouldn’t go down his driveway. The customer also tried to claim some items were destroyed during his move which we were able to send out our repair guy that made simple repairs on his items. Again he as unhappy as he wanted new furniture instead. In closing I will summarize what happened on this move. The customer did not get rid of what they were supposed to. The move went longer, some we charged for, some we gave for FREE. He thought he should’ve gotten it all for free. The truck got stuck and scraped his driveway. We got the truck unstuck. He wanted a new driveway and fence and some new furniture and thought that he would use Angie’s List as a way to get what he wanted. This is a true case of FRAUD and we will not stoop to that level. We issued a fair settlement check for his issues and he wasn’t happy because we wouldn’t replace his driveway. That’s it in a nutshell. Our philosophy is that reasonable people can come to reasonable solutions. Obviously this was not the case with this customer.

We are sorry you were not satisfied with your move. we were not made aware of handling your furniture "rough" until this review a year later nor were we notified of anything damaged.Obviously the unit was not properly dried before we moved it, thus the mold appeared. It is not good for a frig\freezer to sit with the doors opened as it puts a lot of stress on the hinge and can put the door out of alignment. as for the phone call, it must have been an important call as our crews are trained not to take personal calls on a job. We strive for 100% customer satisfaction but finding out about a problem 1 year later there is not much that can be done. Thank you for your business

It went great. They were great at communicating along the way. Phase 1 2 ladies came to the house and spent a day packing all my things. Phase 2: 4 movers came a loaded a 3rd party truck for me. All the service folks were very courteous and good communicators. The pricing was fair and as quoted. Highly recommended.

I was told the crew would show up between 8-10am. At 10:30am No crew. No one bothered to let me know they were late so I called Pack and Load and they assured me they were on the way. 11:30 No crew called back again. Jason now said they were coming from downtown and a third guy would be helping to get it done quicker. I then received a call from Justin and he was one of the actual movers. He said they left the shrink wrap at home thats why they were late and he didn't know anything about the 3 member helping. The crew finally arrived at 12:15. 2hours and 15 minutes late. Let's see!! Well they dropped my laundry dryer down the stairs and destroyed it. Cracked the deck stairs and scratch all the wood. I was given 150 bucks. They didn't use much caution at all with my nice furniture. It started raining and we weren't finished because these two guys were 2:15 minutes late. Wasn't impressed. WILL NOT USE AGAIN. Look else where folks. The guys even told me this was not their full time job. They just do this on the side to make extra money.

We do not show this customer in our system nor do we have any employees with the names mentioned in this review. There is another company in Atlanta using the name Pack and Load which we feel this review may be for. Currently we are working with Angies List to remove this review and post it to the proper company. Sorry for any confusion this may cause.

[member name removed], We are very sorry that your experience was less than perfect. I wish you would have let us know back in March that you were not completely satisfied. I would like to explain how the moving teams work. When you have any moving crew larger than a 2 man moving crew there is always one mover/supervisor that stays on the truck to pack the truck. I understand that you think he was not pulling his weight but this is how all moving companies work. You cannot have several different guys packing the truck or you could have a disaster on your hands. Again, we are very sorry that you were not 100% satisfied with your move, but if you will contact the office we will be glad to discuss this and try to come to a reasonable resolution.

We've used them before and we liked them. They were professional and cordial. The first time, they did the packing and the second time, I did it. Their price is comparable with everybody else. Basically, they know what they're doing. They packed everything perfectly. Nothing was broken. They set everything back up. Furniture-wise, they moved me in. I didn't have to lift a hand. I can trust them. They're trustworthy.

The movers arrived within the scheduled window and appeared to have enough employees to handle the job. We had our boxes packed and labeled and ready to go. The crew chief had his team already working on loading and wrapping items when he presented a number of forms to sign. In the future, GA Pack and Load should have those forms sent to the customer prior to the move to review. The estimate was $2490 but the total costs of the move was $3200.00. The crew was very courteous during the course of a long days move. The following day we learned that in removing the refrigerator from our old residence they damaged water supply lines/plumbing that serviced the refrigerator. We requested that GA Pack and Load agree to consider repairs after affording them with the opportunity to inspect the damage with the consent of the new owners. GA Pack and Load handled the claim with professionalism and paid for the damage.

Reid came to our home to evaluate our moving needs and to give us an estimate. We were impressed from that first meeting. His quote was almost $5000 less than another company. We corresponded with Reid several times by email, to get answers to several questions. We were called the day before the move to confirm our plans. On moving day, we had a superior group known as the "A" team. Andrew was the team leader; I wish I could find the list I had of all the other guys...just to give them the credit they deserve. They arrived on time and worked tirelessly Tuesday to load the trucks. Arrived on time at our destination on Wednesday and again worked as hard as any group I have ever seen to get us unloaded and set up in the new home. They were professional, organized, and loads of fun. They went above and beyond to make sure our move was as easy as it could be. Moving is never cheap, but we definitely got our monies worth! We were so impressed we recommended the company to another family. They had a great experience, too. My daughter will be moving in about six weeks and, we will use these guys again!

The move was excellent. The entire team was very professional and attentive explaining everything has they worked. Nothing was damaged in the process. I actually got a great deal as I had reserved 3 men and a truck but when they arrived they sent 4 men and a truck and did not charge for the extra person. Sadly it rained all day but the guys went above and beyond without hesitation. They worked the entire day without lunch. Very pleased with service and would recommend them to anyone planning a move.

JR, the dispatcher did a great job communicating about the move schedule prior to the work. Andrew, Robert, Mike, and James worked so hard and were very professional and respectful of me, my home, and my things while they were helping me get everything loaded onto the moving truck.. What great guys who showed up and loaded my stuff on to a upack trailer. First they met me at my storage unit and quickly loaded that onto their truck. Then they met me at home and loaded all my boxes and stuff onto a trailer for transport during an out of state move. These guys worked so hard and completed the whole thing in about 4 hours. They packed the truck very tightly, so I know my things wont be bouncing around in transit. I had about 18 liner feet of items in the trailer. I would use these guys again. I also used them for packing (a separate review last week)--also an easy and nice experience.

The move went off without a single problem. The four workers arrived with a 26-foot truck at 9:30 am, just as promised (i.e., between 9 and 10). They carefully wrapped and loaded the furniture and other items from my two apartments and the 30+ boxes we had stored in a nearby garage by 1 pm. They worked non-stop, but were extremely careful with everything. They were polite and friendly. You could tell they enjoyed their work and got along well with each other. A move like this is stressful and it is important there is no additional stress. There was none. They took a 30-minute break for lunch and had everything unloaded and placed where we wanted it in our new house by 4:30 pm (travel time was minimal because the new house was only a few miles from the apartments). There is nothing negative I can say about this move. It went like clockwork and all our possessions arrived in the same condition as they left.
Description of Work: Moved our two apartments and storage area into a nearby house.
