The guys showed up first thing in the morning the day we had talked about. They began setting up some sort of containment in my finished basement and in the crawlspace so they could start the work without disrupting the rest of the house.
It was a 4 day process in which Jesse and his crew showed up on time every morning, worked at least 8 hours every day, and were available to answer any questions we had throughout the day.
Upon completion of the work FloodMasters offered air testing for all previously affected areas, gave me an invoice for the work that was done, and made sure all my questions and concerns were answered.
A+ job and would definately recommend/use them in the future!
These guys cleaned up, packed up and remove all evidence of the overflow. The only thing that I did not expect
was the electric bill was 3x's the normal amount and they did not honor the coupon for the $100.00 off of service.
plainly obvious still left in some areas. I'm still waiting for someone to come and secure the vapor barrier to the walls. Was informed that it was a miscommunication issue, but I also know that if I miscommunicate something to someone, which is rare btw, I would take care of it. The other issue was that it seemed rather humid in the house during the dry out and I thought surely just b/c of all the drying / cleaning equipment. Turns out, some of the equipment was draining right back into the crawlspace. I'm mystified as to how this happened as FloodMasters was supposedly taking regular readings. This was my 1st and hopefully last experience with a flood / restoration company. Anyway, that was my experience. Some of the staff were great, some as expected and one or two probably have no where else to go other than working in the...septic arena. Too bad. This was a missed opportunity for Floodmasters. Hopefully they will read this and the other reviews and tweak a few things.
I was initially actually impressed to see some good reviews from Angieslist members for this company. However, I now realize that everything that glitters is not gold. I called this company for some garage ceiling water damage estimation. A gentleman by the name of Mitch Turner came by and provided an estimate of ~$1300. Per him, everything to do a full job is included in this quote except "patch work and re-painting" (which he told us was, in their terms "rebuilding") and quoted me an extra $600 for the rebuilding. I told him that I was extremely sensitive to the cost (but was willing to work with $1300 for everything except patch work and re-painting), and you are going to charge me $600 for patch work and re-painting, I can handle that myself. We were all good about this and agreed on a deal.
Next morning, when the guys Jessy and James come in to do the work, they tell me that only removal of old insulation from the ceiling was in the scope of the project, but the installation of new insulation to replace the old insulation is part of "rebuilding". I wish Mitch had been upfront with me about this when he gave me the quote, because that would have meant that I would have made a completely different decision the previous day itself. I call Mitch to discuss this issue (and asking for some fair compensation for his lapse of communication, which by the way he totally owned up to and also apologized for not communicating this to me) who points me to talk to their office. I call the office and speak to a nice lady, who says she will need the owner Bob to call me about this. After much internal phone calling between all of these folks, I am told Bob will call me to
discuss this in a few mins to work something out. I await Bob's call, but Bob doesn't call for 10-15 mins. By this time, the guys are done with their job of cutting the ceiling open, removing insulation, setting up the blowers/dehumidifier for drying, and about to leave. Bob still hasn't called. I ask Jessy for Bob's number and Jessy obliges. I call Bob and the moment I call Bob, the first statement I get is "so you are the guy who is harassing my guys" and mumbled a couple of other nasty statements and hung up on me. I then call him again and calmly tell him that at the very least, you need to listen to my complaint, as a customer and give me a fair chance to represent my side of the story. He wasn't willing to listen. All he wanted was for his guys to pull the plug on everything take all the equipment back. He then also uttered a VERY RACIST statement, which I cannot post here (if he had common courtesy, he would not have uttered such a statement to anyone, leave alone a first-time customer. He again hung up on me and called his guys who were sitting by my garage and asked them to pull everything out and return. I didn't stop them, as I realized I will be doing business with a jerk, who does not know how to respect customers.
I was not asking for any free services here. At the very least, I was expecting an apology from Bob (like Mitch did) and own up to their miscommunication. If that would happened, believe me, there were a whole lot of options open that would have come out as a win-win for both parties. But I guess Bob wasn't in the mood for any business....
I would sincerely recommend anyone reading this to stay away from FloodMasters. The guys Jessy and James were great and did their work wonderfully, but unfortunately they work for a jerk of a boss, and that's what counts at the end of the day!
Response was excellent. I called them around 9am, and Tim arrived and did the estimate by 1030. The tearout and setup of the equipment was done by 2pm.There was a miscue about the pickup time (I needed the stuff out by 11am, they thought they had all day) that was handled well, and the pickup was made when I needed it.There was a lingering musty smell that bothered me,and Tim came by to check it out. He checked for moisture(none) and assured me the smell would go when the buildout was done(it did).
I was so happy with the response time that I hired Floodmasters without getting any other estimates but I checked around later and got over the phone ballpark estimates of $500-$1200, so their price of $1000 was in the neighborhood.Licensing
