We talked to a couple of companies and we decided on Davis so we went to their showroom and looked at their windows. We liked their windows and we liked their price.
Description of Work: Davis replaced all 16 of our windows and they did some additional carpentry work on the wood frames where needed.

On the day they arrived they were on time and sent a crew of 2 that was awesome! They brought their own beverages and other than greeting us they simply got to work! WOW, they were amazing!
Description of Work: We built a brand new home in 2006 and spent a good amount of money to build and for the land. The home was spectacular in every way with the exception of the front door. It just was not up to par for a home in this price class! We shopped around for a complete total front entry door replacement and wanted perfection......WE GOT IT with David Window and Door! + -1 moreWe were really pleased with Davis' behavior as a company. Their rep, Tim Rush, was very friendly, professional, and responsive. Their work crew finished the work in nearly 1 day, but wrapped up the work in 2. We let the workers come and go from the house while we were at work, and we had no complaints about that-- they left the house in excellent shape.
Description of Work: Davis windows replaced nearly all the original windows (12 windows) in our 1920s era home with modern energy efficient vinyl and wood units. They're excellent so far, and the house is much much less drafty as a result.

+ 0 moreThe sales person from Davis Window and Door was very punctual and very professional without seeming "pushy". This was different from the experiences that we had from other companies that we contacted. The installation also went very smoothly, with no "surprises". Although Davis may not be the cheapest window and door company around, we couldn't be happier with their products and service.
Description of Work: We had a replacement 2-story unit, including a custom paladium window, front door, transum and side panels installed. We also had two large tempered glass windows replaced in our second floor master bathroom.

+ 0 moreWe've rated these folks before, but they are still good and we would use them again for similar services. We got four quotes and they were the most fair. Not the cheapest, nor the most expensive.
Description of Work: Replacement windows and doors. We went with fiberglass, which a lot of businesses don't offer. This style matched our former windows and look the best. They replaced all the windows and two sliding glass doors.

+ -1 moreKurt was late arriving to my home due to an incorrect address. When he arrived, he appeared angry. He had an assistant in-training with him, and she was most pleasant. The sales presentation seemed awkward and Kurt appeared uncomfortable. He had promised an estimate by phone and by e-mail but I have never received either. It was a waste of time.
Description of Work: I was interested in window and door replacement. No services have been performed by this company. It never followed up with the promised estimate.

+ 0 moreThe experience went very well. The installation started earlier than they originally estimated. The installers were prompt in arriving. They always told us what they would be doing each day. They cleaned up after themselves, and were very pleasant to be around. I never felt unsafe with any of their employees being around or in our home. The job was completed in a few days. There was no need for small trips after the fact to finish up small odds or ends. It was done right the first time. We've called them twice since the installation two years ago with minor adjustments, and they have responded quickly. We would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Davis replaced all of the windows (approx 25) and one door in our home with Simonton windows. We received several quotes, and their price was the best that we received. They also know their product and made reasonable recommendations. They were not high pressure and did not try to oversell us to buy something more than what we needed.

+ 1 moreGreat! Salesman was accommodating and even offered a "show price" since the show was going on (we visited the showroom- had no idea there was a show). It was scheduled and performed exactly as promised. We had some extra painting done to match the colors and that was performed separately, but with the same level of satisfaction. Excellent company to work with.
Description of Work: We purchased a new exterior door. It was installed with some carpentry done around the door to fit it properly and match the paint.

+ -1 moreBeing an Angie's List A-rated contractor ( different category ) myself, I was definitely evaluating the entire process from the very start to completion. From the initial appointment with my salesperson, to the measurement evaluation by the owner, and the completion of work by the installation crew they performed very well. No one missed an appointment time. Their communication with me went well. As I would expect everyone was professional. Perhaps, most important the installation crew did good work. Although they were definitely efficient, there WAS NOT a focus on getting the job done as fast as possible. This backed up Davis's claim that they do not use subcontractors. I have more window and door work to be performed in the future, and I intend to call Davis Window & Door again.

We received 1-2 calls, told them where we were in the decision process & they waited until we contacted them again. Everyone was very professional, helpful & knowledgeable. We'll definitely use Davis W&D again & recommend them.

+ -1 moreI called the company back to let them know you found the coupon and that you're a member and the lady I spoke to said that they already applied the discount. She said they give the discount to everyone as "it makes it easier." The best part of the whole thing was the lady didn't even ask me my name. How can you offer a discount to Angie's List members when it's automatically applied to every single person that calls. How is that offering a discount? This is misrepresentation. I wouldn't use the company unless I spoke to the owner prior to. The quote I got was $5925 my other quote from their competitor was $5523.
Description of Work: I called and requested a salesperson to come out and give me a quote to replace my windows. We had to reschedule the first visit and when I called the second time I gave them the information another company had given me (measurements and number of windows) and the quote they gave me. I told the lady I talked to to have someone come out if they could meet or beat the price. I didn't hear back from the company for another three business days. When the sales person did call back he said he didn't receive the information. The office called at 1:00 on Monday and said the estimator would be there at 3:00 that same day. After that meeting he said he would have the estimate to me by the next morning. I received the quote on Tuesday afternoon. I decided I would think about their prices some more because they were hirer than the other company. So I flipped through the Angie's List magazine after I got home from work Tuesday evening. I noticed in the magazine that Davis Window & Door offered an up to 30% off discount to Angie's List members that expires on 8-15-08.

+ -1 moreWe shopped around for estimates and they had the best one. There was some confusion about how close my location was compared to their last appointment, so they didn't arrive on time. The work was good though and they did follow up with me when they were done.
Description of Work: They replaced four average sized horizontal sliding glass windows in my condo and took away the old ones. They did the work all within a half of a day.

+ 1 moreWe were very pleased with the entire process. Kurt came out to give us an estimate. We had two other estimates and the Davis bid was the lowest. We felt that his presentation was the most upfront we received. We were called when the windows came in and asked if we wanted to have them installed immediately or did we want to wait until the door arrived. We were willing to wait. Steve was in charge of our installation. It took 1 1/2 days. The workers were all extremely polite. Steve discussed the process with my husband and made sure we agreed with what was being done. It all looks great.
Description of Work: They replaced 14 windows on our sun porch. Twelve of them are tilt-in double hung half screen windows. Two are trapezoid and required some carpentry to be installed. They also replaced the exterior door; carpentry was necessary for that.

+ -1 moreTim Rush came to do an estimate for replacement windows in our home. We had been told by a contractor that many windows would need replacing. This was due to moisture damage, and the sills were, in some cases, badly rotted. Tim could have sold us thousands of dollars worth of windows, and we would have been none the wiser. Tim told us, however, that he had good news; the sills could be repaired, and he had just the person to refer to us. The next day, Tim kept his word and called a contractor who lives only about two miles from our house. The contractor immediately called us, and he has concurred that the windows do not need replacing. We expect to begin work soon. If you want honesty and a top-notch window expert, Davis Windows is the place to call!

After I signed the contract, another rep was out within three days to take measurements and spec the windows. Two weeks later, the crew showed up exactly when they said they would and installation went perfectly. They cleaned up all the mess and hauled it off. The new windows look and work great.
Description of Work: Replaced all windows on lower floor with new vinyl windows. Job involved building large custom windows and frames for sixty-year-old brick home.

I did not choose the company because I could only choose one of the three companies I interviewed. The estimate was a little higher than another company's for a similar product, but I was very impressed with the product and with the knowledge of the sales manager. + 0 moreTHEY BELIEVE IN WHAT THEY DO. WE HAD ONE MINOR PROBLEM WITH AN ENTRY DOOR, THE INSULATION WASN'T QUITE ADEQUATE, BUT THEY REPLACED THAT WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS. THEY HAVE A WARRANTY. IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG WITH THE WINDOWS, THEY WILL FIX IT WHATEVER IT IS, EVEN IF IT'S JUST A ROCK THROWN THROUGH IT. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THE CAUSE WAS. THEY WILL COME AND REPLACE THEM.
Description of Work: THEY REPLACED ALL THE WINDOWS, AND TWO ENTRY DOORS FOR OUR HOME. WE BASICALLY HAD OLD, INEFFICIENT WINDOWS. THEY CARRY SIMONTEN, AND THEY REPLACED EVERYTHING.
