The company was contracted by our builder to install 2x garage doors: one double door and one single door. They also installed 2x Chamberlin liftmaster 1/3hp screw drive garage door openers. Within two months of installation both doors experienced issues with the light working and not working and then with the remotes not being able to open the doors. The units were reprogrammed and we bought new batteries. The second service date the service tech arrived and the doors did work for him. He stated that is must be interference. Within a few days after he left, the same issues were present. (just some background, I come from an engineering background and quality assurance). We then replaced the bulbs, and replaced the batteries in the remote units, we reprogrammed the openers. The issues we saw were the door would open at 20' feet away, then not be able to close. We could stand under the unit, open it, and then press the remote numerous times and it would not respond. We tested this with all three remotes on both units and could reproduce the issue. We contacted Chamberlin who referred us back to our installer. When the installer came out for the third time he again claimed it was interference. This time we had a spreadsheet of when things occured and what actions we took. My wife told him that we had changed batteries, his remark "that was stupid, the batteries last for three years" The installer reprogrammed the remotes and this time nothing changed. He then said it could be the logic board and that he would need to order them. He left without giving us an ETA and when to expect the parts or for the doors to work. I feel he was rude to my wife and mother-in-law who were present when he arrived to perform work. Just on a matter of principal, I think it may be worth replacing both openers consider we have had 3 repairs in less than 8 months and the overall attitude and non-responsiveness of Builder Specialties.
