Not a trustworthy business to go for from my experience. Not done a good job for us. I got cheated and dont want others to be cheated by him. His team promised that they will remove all the rots and do a proper prep work before they start painting, but they didnt adhere to their promises. Instead painted over the rot so that it looks good from outside. In some places paint already started cracking and shows uneven though it is not even a month now. They replaced our deck also, but left all the debris, nails for us to clean. Washed away the paint in our backyard. Ruined our garage door glasses with scratches and left our front glass door, windows and lights etc with spray paint as they didnt cover them while spray painting even after I asked them to do so. If you show them that the work is not done right they get annoyed and start calling you names. They may be cheap money wise, but their work as well ethics are very cheap too. Very cunning and deceiving business practice. The owner is good at convincing you and brags about having 14 years of experience, but is not true. They didn't complete the repair work as promised and when I call him to discuss the same, he never picks up the phone though he had given us 2 years of labor warranty. Also, he does not have workers liability insurance though he has a general one. Be watch out that the labor warranty he offers may not be valid as writes a wrong address, So make sure to verify the address that he writes in there matches with his business card, if at all you decide to go with him. Overall not a very good experience and will never recommend to anybody. Basically I feel I wasted my money and instead would have gotten it done with someone else though the price is bit more. Lot more bad experience to say, but I guess you get it by now. I was tying to upload pictures, but the site would not let me do that. Sorry for that.

This company was recommended by the Douglasville Home Depot's Kitchen & Bath remodeling department. Todd from Affordable Contracting came our to give us a free estimate on two issues in our master bath: 1. We thought we had to replace the entire shower stall* because the faucet handles had detached from the stud behind the stall and were no longer flush with the shower interior; 2. We want to replace our contractor-grade master vanity with something more attractive. Todd gave us a quote of over $9,000 (a discounted price for committing immediately!) for this remodeling project. He said he would send us an e-mail with this estimate in writing, but never did. The shower stall replacement estimate was over $6,000. He said our shower was a non-standard size, so that alone would cost $2,000. I later went to look at shower stalls for new construction/remodeling, and our stall is the standard size and costs under $400 (four hundred). The shower door I want is a special order, but it is also under $400. So with tax and new fixtures, that's still under $1,000 - half of what Todd said the shower stall alone would cost. *I put an asterisk by the phrase "we thought we had to replace the entire shower stall." After recovering from my heart attack at the price Todd quoted, I had a brainstorm: maybe we could go through the drywall on the other side of the shower and re-attach the faucets to the stud that way. I called a plumber that we had used before, and he came out to look at the problem. While we were talking, he tightened up the faucets and fixed the problem for no charge. Fixed. No charge. I believe that Todd not only gave me an exorbitant quote (to be fair, he had to pad the estimate somewhat to account for unforeseen problems after removing the old shower stall, but I believe he doubled the cost of the new stall itself). He also took advantage of my lack of expertise in remodeling. I told him why we were thinking about replacing the shower stall - only because of the faucets becoming detached - not because we didn't like it; in fact, we were going to install one just like it after re-attaching the faucets. Why didn't he think of coming through the drywall to reattach the faucets? Why didn't he know about the tightening screw that solved the problem without tearing up a thing? Regarding the $3,000 vanity replacement, Todd said they (unclear whether he meant his company or Home Depot) could find a vanity base and top that would suit us, but he didn't even ask what materials (laminate, wood, color choices) we might be considering. I don't know about you, but I don't agree to spend $3,000 for a new vanity sight-unseen. Because of this experience, because I feel they were taking advantage of our worry about the shower repair to make a quick buck (several thousand quick bucks!), we decided not to use Home Depot and Affordable Contracting for our much larger kitchen remodeling project. p.s. If you need a good plumber in Douglas County, call Foster Plumbing (see my report on Angie's List).
Description of Work: Estimate for bathroom repair/remodeling project - shower and vanity replacement - free estimate. Ok, I will change my rating to a "D" from an F because you took the time to reply - and the person who came to give me an estimate is no longer with the company. However, we were both pointing to a specific fiberglass shower stall in the catalog he brought, so the claim that I was unclear, or Todd misunderstood, about the product just doesn't hold water. This was the second of two Affordable Contracting employees that I dealt with, and the other wasn't much more effective at inspiring confidence. The person who came out to measure my kitchen for a remodeling job (the $50 fee) explained the process like this: We take the measurements and give them to your Home Depot designer who will contact you when the design is ready, then we will do a more specific measurement to confirm everything will fit. Ah, wasn't there another step in there? You know, the customer's input about what I want in my new kitchen? Oh, yeah, she said without enthusiasm, that's in there. Y'all need to stop taking Home Depot referral customers for granted and earn our business with clear, customer-focused communication. By "customer," I don't mean HD, I mean the home-owner!

Response from Atlanta Affordable Contracting, Inc.
We apologize for any misunderstanding on the part of our sales consultant that visited your home. He resigned 4 weeks ago so I can not ask for his input. It sounds like he was not clear on what you wanted because the shower you are describing is a fiberglass unit and the one that he was budgeting was a tile enclosure based upon the price given and our pricing with which I a familiar. Again, we apologize for the disconnect. We regards to the vanity, we have hundreds of vanities that we sell and each sales consultant has door samples and books with pictures for our clients to choose from that they take on three appointments a day. It really sounds like he was just providing budget figures to you. Again, we apologize for the misunderstanding. I know that we do minor repairs of this nature all the time, so I am not sure why he would replace the shower over a loose screw. We try our very best to provide the best customer service available in the industry from the first visit to the home through the installation process. We provide estimates of every nature to approximately 8,000 clients per year and we install approximately 3,000 jobs per year. I know that we are not perfect and we do make mistakes. Most of these are communication related. If we made a communication error at your home, we sincerely apologize. If you would like us to estimate any future projects please contact me directly and I will ensure the future estimate exceeds your expectations. Thank you. Lance Smith, Owner
