The whole job went absolutely awful. For starters, the technician that came to the house was extremely rude to me. He seemed polite initially but the more questions I asked the more I realized he was not only disrespectful towards me but was out to get my money. Since I had tried changing the lock unsuccessfully, I naively asked the locksmith how he had managed to finally get it out (not that I would try anymore but rather for my own understanding). He replied "that is none of your business, that is my job". Moreover, I was quoted online only $35 per lock and $19 for a re-key. I was offered also a 10% discount that the guy did not honor but rather increased the price on each lock on the spot, based on the types of locks he had to change, which I thought initially, fair enough as long as he does a perfect job. The locksmith actually charged me $79 per lock (based on the fact that it was an older version schlage deadbolt which required drilling out the plugs) and on top of that he had to make the holes bigger, for which he charged $39 per lock. So I initially was going to change 3 locks plus rekey the entrance. I changed my mind after the quote to only two locks and one rekey, which I later decided against when I noticed the absolute mess that he made on the second lock: I immediately asked him to stop right after he finished putting the screws and to end the job right there. He messed up the second door so badly I think I will now have to replace the door. I would NEVER use them again and would recommend against using that specific provider in Houston.

Apparently this is a company that contracts with local locksmiths to provide services. My in-laws needed a repair on an older front door lock on their Victorian home. The repair was simple - the spring that extends the latch had broken, and the door would not latch shut. It is hard to conceive that any locksmith would not be able to do this repair in less than 30 minutes. The locksmith who was sent took one glance at it and proclaimed that it was impossible to repair, being "too old", and that his charge for replacing it would be $900. This would undoubtedly have required a new style lockset that would have, of course, been totally inappropriate for the style of the house. My sister-in-law is blind, which might seem to some people to afford an opportunity for deceit, but in fact she is not nearly so easily fooled, and realizing how completely out of line this proposal, refused the service. He then insisted on a $19 service fee which she felt pressured to give him, at which point he left with her $20 bill without proffering the $1 in change. At this point, she asked my opinion of this transaction, and I offered to repair the lockset myself. The mortise lock is a very common "Sargent" entry set with a Yale cylinder. The entire repair took less than 20 minutes, screws out to screws in. Needless to say, my "opinion" of this is that we both have good reason to be very angry. I am holding back from labeling this behavior, but I am sure that whoever reads this account will be able to supply their own adjectives.

Sept 29th: 6:42pm, I called America's Locksmith services because I had locked my keys in the car and I was a long way from home and the lady on the phone told me that the price for me to unlock my car would be $54. Then I asked her if they accepts credit cars or checks. She replied that they take all three.Sept 29th: 8:02pm: Worker shows up to unlock my car, he charges me $19 (service fee), $79 (car unlock fee), and $55 (labor fee). When I told him that this was not the quote I received on the phone, the worker replied that they get a lot of phone calls about answering services giving them misquotes. The worker encouraged me to call back and ask for a supervisor.Sept 30th: (in the morning): Called and spoke with LaDon who informed that he has the conservation recorded and that the lady did not give me a $54 quote. He got very defensive and said that they record every conversation and that if I pursued legal action, they would be ready. LaDon offered me a 15% discount off of my price, I said okay and that I would like to talk to the next higher person. He said he would give me the 15% discount and transfer me to David. Sept 30th: (in the early afternoon): I called back and spoke to David who yelled at me and said I was playing games because I did not really have phone conversation recorded and that if I filed a complaint with the BBB, he would not do anything for me. He said that LaDon was lying and that he will not give me any discount. My complaints:1) on the phone, $155 is no where near the price I was originally quoted. 2) They charged me $79 for car unlock and $55 for labor....they are the same thing (the labor was to unlock the car). It took the guy approx 10 minutes to unlock me car.3) They wanted to charge $15 just to use a credit card, which the person on the phone did not say, when I specifically asked her.4) poor customer service

They serviced a locked car door for my cousin-in-law. The guy didn't even tell her what the price would be prior to starting. Their website said it started at $35 plus a $19 service call fee. They had a firm price for the tool they used (found that out after it was already done). The only good thing was it didn't take too long for them to get to her house. But he didn't speak to her at all.

The overall experience was bad from start to finish. In habit of turning the lock while walking out, I shut the door without my keys. From my phone I googled locksmith (because at that moment I forgot about my Angie's List subscription) and the first listing was for America's Locksmith Services so I called. The lady that answered was short and rude which should have been the first sign but she said 15 minutes and would cost about $60 I said go ahead and do it. An hour later, no call and no show, I call back and they have to go through the entire process of taking my information again before they can tell that they'll get someone out right away. So in about another 20 minutes a guy shows up and tells me it's going to be $150 and in 3 minutes drills the lock that I now have to replace. $150 for 3 minutes of work with no special equipment... I'm in the wrong business. I would have been better off catching a ride to Lowe's and buying myself a new drill and bit and I could have picked up the replacement lock while there. Everything about these people felt like a scam.

Needed to re-key some locks at my house. I found this company from Google and their listed price is $19 service call fee and $19 per lock. I called and scheduled an appointment for 11:00 am on Saturday. At 10:00 am I get a call and the guy says he will be there at 11:00 am. At about 11:30 the guy gets here and first uses my restroom. He then goes around the house counting my locks. I have four doors with 3 locks each and one door with one lock. He counts up to 14 locks and I ask how he got that number. He then counted the four doors with three locks each (3, 6, 9, 13) and the one door with one lock as 14. I just stare at him trying to figure out if he is trying to screw me or is really too stupid to count. I soon find out as he finally agrees I have only 13 locks then writes up a bill equal to $20 service fee + 13 locks * $26 (was supposed to be $19) + a "labor" fee of $160. At this point I know this guy is just blatantly trying to screw me over. So I say I changed my mind just let me pay the service fee. He says fine but he can only take cash but can take a credit card or check if I buy the full service. I tell him fine, I will call the police and have them escort him out of my house, at which point he decides he can take a card, calls me names, and leaves without shutting the door. I may call the BBB or whatever agency polices fraud, because this was outright fraud and I don't think he would have left at all if I hadn't threatened to call the police. This business should be investigated and shut down if this is their common business practice.
