+ -1 moreI have ADT. We have had them from a long time. They have been pretty good and every couple of years they want to raise the monthly payment. I keep saying that if they raise it I will not use them again. I have the same rate since 15 years and they have been pretty good about that.

+ -1 moreWe have an alarm system and we thought it was a good deal. They were coming around the neighborhood door to door. The installation was free so that's why we thought we were getting a great deal. There is a monthly monitoring charge and I have seen ad’s for the same that are way cheaper. Unfortunately we are in a contract so we cannot cancel it. It is one of the big alarm system companies. I would tell people to do a research before they sign up for any contract. Initially we thought it was a great deal but since learning that they are way over priced on their monthly fee, I'm very disappointed with them that we are locked into a five year contract.
Description of Work: ADT installed an alarm system for us last year.

+ -1 moreThe installation team (3 men) had to work for 10 hours straight to finish the house, and they did it cheerfully and thoughtfully. No damage to home. When installation tests weren't quite right, the same tech arrived at 8am the next day to fix the problem. The manager of the unit visited the home too. Very impressive.
Description of Work: Salesperson was like a cliche used-car salesman. I didn't need his song-and-dance, which was much more rehearsed than the competition. I chose Brinks (now "Broadview Security" for their differences in the alarm installation and monitoring industry. Mostly, they own the equipment, which is a con, but for a minimal monthly insurance plan, they will service the equipment within 12 hours of a call 24/7 with no additional fees. They also install more equipment: EVERY window, no matter how small or high, on the basement and ground floors. The competition wanted to use less extensive and effective methods (i.e. glass break and motion detectors). The up front installations costs are low; they recoup the money through the monthly monitoring fees, which are the highest in the business--about $35 month. They additional equipment and service, like smoke detectors and cellular phone routers, were very reasonable, however.

+ -1 moreI like the fact that the monthly service fee will never increase as long as the contract is in force without any break in service. They installed the alarm system and cleaned up the mess that they had made. One of the window sensors didn't work correctly and they came out and replaced it quickly.

+ -1 moreThere's been a ramp up of crime in our neighborhood and decided it was time to install a home security system. After reading the reviews on Angie's List, we went with Brinks. They were available the very next day after I called to do a consultation and within three days the system was installed and working properly. We've had one technology issue since installation. They sent someone out the next day and repaired the problem free of charge. I wouldn't hesitate to refer them to anyone looking for a reputable and responsive security company.

+ -1 moreThey came in and did a great job. They used existing wires, the workers were great and when one needed help they just called each other and someone came and help out. It was a wonderful experience. They were clean and professional and did an overall great job. They came in a professional looking truck, they put slippers on when they came in and I felt so much more comfortable with Brinks than I did with my previous home alarm company. They told me that they do research and make sure the workers are checked out for any kind of criminal record.

We have a chime option so I know when doors open - very nice to have with small kids. I feel safer knowing I have the system and the monitoring.

They call when the alarm goes off for to long and if no answer, they send the police. The people here are friendly and I would recommend this service to all homeowners.

+ -1 moreWe had a couple of issues and they have responded really quickly to everything that was happening. They were really fast actually, at the time of the incidents. They are a great company.
Description of Work: It is a 24/7 monitoring. It is alarm, fire and smoke. They installed the sensors. The monitoring is part of a service agreement. We have to pay a monthly fee. The price was on the installation.

+ -1 moreThe men from Brinks Home Security were extremely nice. They were very quick and efficient. Everything went smoothly. We feel that we are safer know they are such quick responders. I can't remember the initial set up fee, but the price I'm telling you is their monthly rate.

I have set off false alarms before and they are great about dealing with that. I think they have been really good to me.

+ -1 moreThe representative was twenty minutes late, but he did call to report traffic problems. When he arrived he launched into an incredibly aggressive sales pitch. Right away he told me that there was no need to research other security companies, and when I told him that I had other interviews set up he became belligerent. He went through a laborious history of the company, even though I told him that I was interested in the bottom line first. I told him that I wanted to think about his quote rather than sign on the spot. He argued with me and accused me of using "thinking about it" as a negotiation tactic. He became verbally abusive and I had to ask him to leave. I would never let someone from this company in my home again.
Description of Work: A Brinks representative came out to my house to give an estimate for a new security system.

+ -1 moreBrinks provides me with decent monthly services. When they installed my home alarm system though, they took a short cut so as to avoid going into my crawlspace. The installation guy also arrived late and left a mess because he was in a rush to get out of my house. He was a guy who they subbed out. I also found their service representative to be highly enthusiastic until I had signed the papers with this company. Once I did that, he seemed to loose his excitement. I am satisfied, to date, with the monthly services, however. I am here nor there when it comes to really referring them. I feel like I have lacked a whole lot of contact with them. I did like that I was not charged for them to install my system because it was through a referral from a friend.

+ -1 moreTold me it was a one year contract. Later, while I was signing the papers I noticed it was really three years. When I called him on it he explained that I had to live in the house a year before they would move me to another location under the contract but that in fact it was a three year contact. This was clearly NOT what I had asked him earlier. He tried to take the contracts I had already signed and leave. Became miffed when I scratched my signature off all of the contracts and told me he "was in the security business" and wouldn't rip me - even after what had just transpired.

+ -1 moreThe salesperson was pleasant, professional, and knowledgeable about the service. He gave some helpful suggestions for the outside of the house to make it less desirable to a burglar. The installation went well and the technician was professional and prompt. There was one problem with the wiring of one of the back doors, and he ended up having to rewire a portion of it. There was no extra charge assessed for having to rewire the door. He cleaned up after making the installations and explained the operations of the alarm in a very easy to understand manner.
Description of Work: A salesperson came out to give an estimate for installing alarm components in our house. The house was pre-wired but did not have the alarm panel, etc. The estimate was reasonable and a week later another employee came out to install the system.
