Jernigan Tile

I would not recommend this business. Jernigan Tile was contracted for tile installation on a major remodeling project on my new home. Within 3 months of the installation, a section of grout on the shower floor of the master bath turned black. Jernigan was notified and were provided multiple opportunities to correct the problem; they gave several “explanations” for the black grout and tried several methods to resolve the issue (none of which were effective). In the end, Jernigan refused to perform the work to repair the problem and “make it right”. As a result, a custom tile installer was hired to remove the shower floor and reinstall the tile. When he removed the tile, he found multiple examples of poor workmanship by Jernigan. This included (but was not limited to) a lack of adhesive on the back of the wall tiles, which allowed water to seep behind the tile, causing severe water damage. Most concerning, improper installation by Jernigan prevented water from the shower to drain correctly, resulting in black mold. My experience with Jernigan Tile was beyond disappointing. Their poor workmanship and improper installation (resulting in water damage and black mold) was completely unacceptable. Their lack of determination to find the root cause of the problem to be completely unprofessional; Jernigan Tile demonstrated a complete lack of initiative in resolving this problem. Based on these reasons, it goes without saying that I would not recommend this business.

Jernigan tile was the subcontractor that did all of the tile installation in our new home that we purchased in 2014. About a month after we moved in we discovered there was a leak in the master shower drain. After digging up the tile it was revealed that the membrane which waterproofs the floor beneath the tile had not been properly installed and was leaking. Jernigan's incompetent workers ended up patching and re-tiling (at our expense) the area 3 times. When I asked if it would be better to just replace the entire membrane I was told that would be too expensive. Obviously they were more concerned with saving a buck than doing good work. After about 6 months the shower started leaked again. Once again they just patched the area. After that time Jesse Jernigan told me personally that if it leaked again he would replace the entire drain pan and tile himself at no expense to me. About 1.5 years went by with no issues and now the shower is leaking again. I've attempted to contact Jernigan for a week now and they will not return my emails or phone calls. I would highly suggest anyone looking for a tile installer to look elsewhere. Their quality of their work is poor (we have issues elsewhere in the house of misaligned tiles, cracked grout, etc.) and most importantly they will not hold up their end of the deal when it comets to repairing things that are the result of their bad work. BUYER BEWARE.
