In a word excellent. This is the largest renovation project that my wife and I have ever taken on. We were cautious about who to hire and wrote up a detailed list of specifications that became part of the contract with Cranford Homes. We ended up deviating on a few items but ended up within 10% of our budget. The overages were because of some higher quality selections that my wife and I decided during the process of selecting carpet, countertops, etc. We found Billy and his team to be very responsive to questions throughout the process and completely trustworthy while they worked in our home over the 3 to 4 months that the project took to complete. The fact that Billy had an onsite superintendent meant that subcontractors were always kept working and doing the work correctly and up to our standards. Billy accepted our ideas into the scope of the project and he also provided some great ideas and advice throughout the process. When issues arose during the project they were always dealt with quickly whether the problem was discovered by Billy's team or myself. I had no problem getting quick responses from Billy whether by email, text message, or phone call. Billy was not the lowest bidder for our project, but he was recommended by another contractor friend of ours who we trusted. We vetted Cranford homes and they are licensed, bonded, and insured. The quality of the work is excellent. Near the end of the project Billy found a few things that he didn't consider up to his standards such as some trim that was 1/4 inch or so too high because the installers planned for hardwood floors instead of LVP. Billy had has team tear off the finished and painted trim and re-do it. Billy also gave a a complementary upgrade of some stained shiplap in our custom built bench seating area and island in our home theater. The stained shiplap was an idea that I had after the project started but I wasn't going to do because I didn't want to increase the project budget. Billy did the upgrade at his cost because he thought it was such a great idea and it really adds some character to the rooms. In all, we love our Cranford home.
Description of Work: Billy and his team at Cranford homes built out our finished basement in the Fall of 2017. In total the project involved over 2,500 sq ft of finished space.

HUGE disappointment and regret that we ever selected this builder to build my home. So many sloppy mistakes, failed to consult me on any of my preferences for my custom build, daily excuses, delays and tons of empty promises. Was dismissive to my concerns on nearly every phone call and made a point to demean my husband only when he was holding him accountable. On the day after we fired him, he took our new permit and our electric meter as a vindictive reaction.

Horrible. He basically messed up the roof, the framing, the basement and the garage. Roof has no drip edge and shingles are bent and some cracked. Garage and basement leak. Framing supports on eaves were arbitrarily omitted (to save his costs?). Installed the wrong windows and then wanted us to pay to replace the windows that he was twice told were not allowed by the HOA. he's also threatening to Sue us because of the reviews I've posted online and is demanding $50k for work he hasn't completed in order to settle after we fired him. I have never dealt with a contractor this incompetent. I've attached the kind of letter you'll receive if you ever hire this company and begin to challenge them. He had an.almost identical case a few years ago he lost with a couple in the area named the Carawans.. I wish they had posted a review.
