Unit went out on a Tuesday. Phelps offered after hours service which we refused because of the cost. Called back the next morning and was told someone would be out that day. Was told we would get calls with an update for arrival time. Heard nothing all day. Called at 4:55 and was told they were still out servicing other customers. No offer to contact the technicians and get an update for us. Girl who answered phone stated she got off work at 5 and if we didn't see anyone today they would come sometime tomorrow. She commented rather snidely that they did have other customers. Seeing as how we bought both of our units from phelps that comment was their undoing and we fired them. As a side note we request no smoking on our property and twice found a number of cigarette butts in the yard when when a certain tech came over. We had to ask for that person to never service our units.
Description of Work: Used them for over five years but when I had a problem last month they couldn't provide the service needed.

Same as above. Very poor service, and the office staff was not concerned with my tenants needs and quality of life.
Description of Work: I contracted with Phelps Heating and Air to service multiple rental properties I own. My experience was that the units broke down more often than they had before Phelps Starting servicng them. The company was not responsive to fixing maintenace issues at homes that had tenants in place, and in some cases those tenants were elderly, and the units stopped working during winter. This happened on two occassions within a few weeks at two homes I rent. The company took their time in getting parts to fix the units, even though they knew the homes were occupied by elderly tenants. The parts were not overnighted, and the result was repairs took days, and in one case over a week. The second issue I had was it always seemed that everytime a technician went to service a unit that was only a few years old, they would find multiple problems with the unit, and of course the repairs would be very expensive. In one case, a technician serviced a unit and stated that more work needed to be done to fix a problem that I had actually fixed the week prior. The technician did not know that I had already fixed the problem, so I knew they were lying about the issue.

When I called them back to schedule the repair work, Jason Phelps made it very clear to me that I was to pay 50% of the money up front and that he would NOT sign a repair agreement. I was told by Jason Phelps and one of his staff members (in a separate conversation) that for the past 30 years, they have always demanded 50% up front from all their customers with no repair agreement executed. Jason Phelps' refusal to sign a repair agreement was all the proof I needed to hold on to my money and run the other direction as quickly as I could. Currently, home owners insurance companies issue large dollar checks in two names and the mortgage lender requires the contractor provide a W9 and a waiver of lien. Hopefully you are familiar with My Loss Draft.com and the "new" rules and guidelines.
Description of Work: The geothermal heating and air system in my home was damaged by lightning. I contacted Phelps for a repair estimate. It took 3 tries to get a technician to my home and I was charged for the repair estimate. The first time, they sent the sales manager who took photographs. The second time, they scheduled the technician but did not tell me so I was at work when the technician called me to say he was at my home. The third time, I was at home and the technician did arrive at the appointed time. I was not told about the fee for the repair estimate. I did pay the technician and Phelps cashed my check.
