Craftsman Deck Builders

Let me begin by saying that I have a beautiful deck built of Trex with a TimberTech rail system. Working with Craftsman Deck Builders was not the most pleasant of experiences. I signed a contract in the presence of David Elliott (owner) on March 23, 2024 with a beginning date of the first week of April 2024. In addition to giving 50% down on a $28,000.00+ deck. I know that most companies want a down payment but this amount seemed like quite a lot to me. A dumpster was delivered on April 15 and some materials were delivered on April 16. I noticed that the wrong rail system was delivered and David said it was his error as he placed the order I correctly. More materials arrived on April 17 but did not include the TimberTech rail system. A crew finally showed up on Saturday, April 20th, to take down my existing deck and do pressure washing of the area. A crew began framing on Monday, April 22. To make a long story short, my deck was not completed until June 10, 2024. I understand that we had to wait 2 weeks for the TimberTech rail system but a project that was supposed to take 1 week instead took 7 weeks to complete. They completed while I was on a cruise vacation that I told Mr. Elliott about when signing the contract in March. He assured me at that time that my deck would be finished long before then. Not only did they begin 3 weeks late and take 7 to complete instead of 1, he contacted me while on my cruise demanding final payment. I told him I would contact him upon my return for a walk through. He contacted me once again regarding final payment and I told I would contact him when I returned and to please stop badgering me. I met with Mr. Elliott on Monday, June 24, for the walk through and to make final payment. There were several items that needed to be addressed and fixed. He took care of 2 of the 5 items. I will now have to pay someone else to come and fix the other 3. I have a photo and written journal of this project and have kept every text and voicemail message from Mr. Elliott in order to substantiate my review. I even have a video of the walk through and his refusing to fix certain items.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience with Craftman Deckbuilders. We had a 30+ year old porch completely gutted and redone plus screening in part of it and adding a wrap around feature. The quality of work was excellent. They were professional, easy to handle, and I love everything about them.

We hired David Elliott (Craftsman Builders) to build our 24’ x 16’ raised deck (with pergola) behind our new home after we met with several builders. The thing that separated David from the others was the time he spent with us going over design modification, materials, and costs. Once we executed the agreement, David’s crew proved to be skilled, efficient, and on time (every day). David was happy to come over when we requested and ordered the materials, came by for deliveries, managed the crew, scheduled the inspector, and communicated with our electrician. We are delighted with the finished product. We would post photos but we are waiting for the wood to cure so David can stain it. We recommend David and will use him again if his services are needed.

Their attention to detail is second to none when it comes to other companies I have used for my decks over my 30 years of experience in home building. Their crews are impressively up to date with all current code requirements and they methodically and carefully work in such a way, that local code enforcers make a point to complement the craftsmanship of work they do. I would recommend them to anyone. Not to mention, they are reasonably priced to market standards.

David accomplished a very extensive deck rebuild and porch refurbish for our home with custom wood that I requested. David has impeccable talent and was always professional. We're very satisfied with our porch and deck and will be for years to come.
