We received a letter stating the column supports were fine. He also noted a problem with cracks and slight bowing on one of the foundation walls and provided a drawing showing how to address the problem. The drawing appeared to be a standard detail for adding rebar inside each foundation block - it was not specific to our house. We called several foundation repair companies to quote the repair. Each of them recommended a different approach from the one that the engineer suggested. We also learned that McElhenny's recommended method would have voided the warranty on our waterproofing system. In the end, for $300 we got peace of mind about the structural supports and we learned about a potentially serious problem that was not included in our home inspection report.

He was good. He was pretty quick. I asked him to come out and take a look at it. He looked at it and reassured me that it wasn't a severe problem. I ended up buying the house. He seems to know his stuff. In the written report, he sealed everything on it. It was a perfect experience.
Description of Work: I used McElhenny Engineering Inc because there were a couple of foundation cracks in the house that I was looking to buy.

We are in a due diligence extension period after we noticed a slight slope in some of the flooring during our regular inspection. The home inspector could not make any judgments on the condition of the home's structure and suggested that we get someone to check into it that had the expertise. We were able to get Martin to come look at the house the day after I contacted him. When we showed up to the house for the appointment, he was already there. He was very thorough and explained everything very clearly. Fortunately the problem was not due to any faulty construction or failing structure, and he took a little tour around the unfinished basement and pointed out all of the good things and noted that this was a well-built home. Our buying agent must have like his service too because she asked for his business cards to pass on to some of her other clients. The price also includes a report mailed to you with a seal, but he will also email a copy if you request it.
Description of Work: The services were a structural assessment of a home during the due diligence period of home purchase - to check on an area of flooring that is sloping.
