Mr. Troy Hawkes, made it very clear he had been doing this type of work for many years. However, when asked for photos, products samples or a written contract, in the end Troy became unavailable and non-responsive. When he finally responded, he requested half the money up front still not having shown any photos of his work. During this time I continued to send email and photos of what I envisioned for my Kitchen and two bathrooms. He finally agreed to meet with me at the local home improvement store to look over some material and we agreed on a start and finish date. I believe as a homeowner who have never undertaken a large project such as a kitchen and bathroom remodel, a contractor with many years of experience should have a certain level of consideration and understanding when dealing with a homeowner who is about to spend a large sum of money on such a task. We met at my home on Monday, October 27, 2014, for a final walk thru in which I explained I required a written contract. He stated he would get the contract and work will begin the following day. On October 28, 2014, which was the day the work was suppose to begin Troy, called stating "the crew he hired took another job and would not be able to start my job until Friday, October 31, 2014. The review is written on November 3, 2014, and I still have not heard from Troy. Needless to say, the month or so spent waiting for Troy to respond and perform the duties of a professional contractor was a complete waste of time.

Description of Work: The Povider came by on October 11, 2014 and I explained what I needed done. He told me that he was going to call me on Monday (10/13/2014) and give me an estimate. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday went by and no call. Friday, I called again. He gave me an excuse that he was having surgery and it will be able to start the Project until the middle of November. He told me he would call on Monday (10/20/2014) and still no phone call. How long does a person have to wait?

It's amazing. It looks different and it doesn't look like the same house. It was beautiful. He's wonderful. He really did a great job. He's just great. The quality is that good.
Description of Work: Gemaco Remodeling completely remodeled our kitchen, dining room and living room. They had to take out the old tile in our kitchen and the carpet in our living room; replaced it all with hardwood. He had to re-wire our house and when he pulled out the carpeting, we found out we had a big bowl in our living room and he had to seal all that in which you couldn't really see when the carpet is lying down but e fix all of it.

Description of Work: Troy was a very nice guy, but I guess my job was too small or he was super busy, because I have yet to receive a quote on the repairs I asked about.

The quality of Troy's work is excellent. I gave him a laundry list of items that I needed done. For everything on my list he quoted me a price of $5000. When he began and found that he would need to hire someone to finish drywall he asked if we could increase the price to $5750 which I agreed to. Everything that he completed was done very well. My husband is very picky about quality work and he is very happy with the work Troy did. The only problem we had was time. We were promised that the job would be completed in two weeks. When Troy ran into problems that held up the job, he did not call me and let me know there would be delays. I had to call him and he continued to promise new completion dates, that he then again didn't make. I think all along his intentions were very good, but he became overwhelmed. He had other jobs running simultaneously and could not keep up. In the end there were a couple things on my initial list that we had agreed he would do that never were done by Troy. I had to hire a plumber and another contractor to come finish those items. I am still waiting for him to complete the repair on my fence. I paid him $5500 and we agreed that I would keep the final $250 of the price until he came back to do that. I doubt I wil hear from him again.

Transformed pantry into a cubby for the refridgerator. Replaced laminate countertops in kitchen and laundry room. Replaced kitchen sink. Replaced vanity and toilet in bathroom. Sealed and primed tile walls in bathroom.

I call GEMACO the end of May to let Troy know I had another job for his company to do. We agreed on a time for one of his employees to come out and take the measurements so I would know how much laminate to order as well as other needed materials. A couple days later Troy, himself came out and took measurements, we discussed other materials needed. Troy made a wonderful suggestion on a substitute for the moisture barrier product that I had not used before. When I went to Lowes to order the laminate I asked the flooring department about the substitute and they confirmed that a lot of people use Troy's substitute because it is a better product for the moisture barrier and it is half the cost. I really appreciated this savings. When my flooring materials came into Lowes I called Troy to let him know and he told me he could pick it up bring it down so laminate could sit for a day and he'd get started the following day. Troy called me from Lowes because there were several other things that were on my pick up order (chair railing, mulch, etc..,) that I had forgotten I had put on there, Troy picked that up to and brought it to my home as well...saving me a trip back in to pick up the other items. The following day his team came out and set to work; old floor came up quick and easy, underfloor was swept and cleaned. New flooring went down beautiful, job was completed inside of 3 days. His team is clean, quick and efficient and I am enjoying my new flooring. I have already given Troy the name and phone number for one of my Tenants that I need to have the flooring done by early Fall. It is a pleasure doing business with Troy's company.
Description of Work: The job that was completed on 06/14/2013 was the installations of 1000 sq ft of laminate flooring in my dinning room, living room, family room and hall way. This contractor assist me at least quarterly with the maintenance and upkeep of my rental business I started 9 years ago. Over the years he has replaced flooring for the whole house in at least 10 of my rental home and completed other maintenance as needed.

I highly recommend Gemaco for all your home improvement needs. They are professional and respectful. They come out and do free estimates, and their prices are always lower than my other quotes. There is nothing they can't do when it comes to home repair. Their work is flawless and they take pride in the finished product. They are very detail oriented and make sure everything is perfect before they leave the job. I have had them do a lot of projects around my house and will use them for my future needs.
Description of Work: I have had Gemaco come out to do several things around my house. They have installed hardwood floors and carpet throughout. They also remodeled 2 bathrooms for me, including tiling the floors and shower walls. They did some updates on my kitchen, including painting, removing some cabinets, installing new lights and repairing the ceiling. They have also installed ceiling fans. They also installed a whole new roof after a storm ripped up the old one.

We had just bought a new home and needed to have the carpet replaced, my wife is very picky about her flooring and Troy was very easy to work with. He took the time to ensure my wife made a good choice in selecting the carpet and pad. His knowledge of carpet brands and what works well in certain circumstances (ie stairs, high traffic areas and large rooms) is next to none. He worked with our schedule and put in extra hours to make our deadlines. He installed around 2000 sq ft of quality carpet faster than I have seen before. You can tell he is very experienced in laying carpet by how he lays it an makes his cuts with very little waste. I have had other people in the past waste a lot of carpet costing me more money. The carpet has been down for almost 3 years and looks just like it did the day Troy installed it. I have recommended him to many of my friends and have heard nothing but positive feedback. Go with Troy..
Description of Work: Troy installed around 2000 sq ft of new carpet in our home, including 7 rooms and stairs in a two story home.

This was a house we had just purchased and it was very boxy inside. We knew we wanted to remove a couple walls to open the living space up and give the home better flow. Troy had layed carpet for us before and I knew he did good work so asked him to do the removal of the walls and instillation of archways in place of each. He removed the walls without damage to anything else, then did a great job of installing the arches and drywall. He re-enforced the one wall which was load bearing as it is a two story house. he was very efficient in his work and meticulous with the drywall to make sure it looked perfectly even. On a seperate occasion he installed the wood flooring to cover to cover where the walls came out. It has been a few years and everything still looks great.
Description of Work: Removed two interior walls to open the dining room and front room up then half wall between Kitchen and living room, installed arches in each place.
