Description of Work: Warning - this company seems to be pulling scams!! They pulled up in my driveway while I was outside working and started to ask questions. They claimed to have spoken with a man at my house and said they were coming back (driving to the house, unannounced, no appointment?) to follow up on an estimate they provided. I asked who they spoke with and rather than produce a name they gave me a vague description of a man about my age, medium-colored hair. I asked what kind of tree and work the estimate was for and they glanced around my yard and said something like, "Um, I think it was pruning some branches from an oak." Uh-huh. "So, are you sure it was for this house? Where is the estimate you prepared? The address should be on there." "Um, we don't have a written estimate." They actually had the gall to continue to ask me if a man lived at the house, though. I assumed they were casing my house and called the police.

The job was bid out by a young salesman who had never worked as a tree climber or cutter. He bid the job very low, so we accepted the offer. Treejob.com uses all sub-contracted labor. Unfortunately, because he bid the job so low, he had trouble finding a crew to accept the job. When a crew finally did come, they were understaffed to the point that I felt that they were unsafe in doing the work. A job that we were told would be done in 4-6 hours stretched for over two weeks. At some point, the top of one of the trees fell onto the property next door, because there were not enough crew members pulling the ropes to guide it down where they wanted it. It is a very large piece of tree, between 50-70 feet tall, and it landed upright, with the cut end down. Its cut end is sticking in the ground on the neighboring property, and its top is leaning on a tree on our property. The company has left it like that for about 3 weeks, and has not returned my call asking to speak to a manager about the problem. At this point, I assume they do not intend to do anything about it. My husband and I have tried to pull it down onto our property, but it is firmly stuck, so we have been unsuccessful. Our mistake? We paid them before the job was completely finished. Now we are left with an enormous dead, brown tree top leaning on a live tree on our property, looming over our back yard.
Description of Work: Three large trees were cut down, cut into chunks and left at the back of the property.

The company sold us on a cold call. We were extremely happy with the price and with the work. They spent the day removing six large trees, the next day the debris was removed and the stumps were ground. We're very happy with the outcome. The only drawback was that we agreed to it on a Saturday, being told that they could be out as early as the next day but they didn't show up for almost two weeks.
Description of Work: Three large pine trees, one large oak tree, and two cedar trees - one alive, one dead - removed. Stumps of pines ground.

I was kind of shocked to see the reviews of Treejob when I looked after already having had some work preformed. My experience with them was great. I had gotten an estimate for $1100 to remove some trees at my home a couple months ago. I called them out, and didn't really have a problem with the price, but wasn't really comfortable with the guy that was going to do my work, so I ended up just pushing it down the to-do list. One afternoon, I had someone knock on my door saying they were in the area and did I need any tree work. I got a price of $1600 from Trip and a girl he was working with. I told him he was a good bit higher than my other price and we got into more detail. I have a very delicate yard I have worked on for the past 20 years. There is a pond right next to the sweetgum in the back and it was completely surrounded by plants I didn't want damaged, not to mention the glass room addition I have right under the tree. Trip said they could get the tree down without damaging anything and that was why the price was a bit higher. He then said, the grass (which is about 20 feet away from the tree) could be used to fall some of the pieces from the tree and he could save me a little money. He stated the grass would probably have a couple dents or dings that could be a couple inches. I was fine with that and we agreed on $1400. They crew came out and did exactly what Trip had told me they would. Everything came down, the grass damage was minimal (well worth the $200 I saved), and they damaged nothing they said they wouldn't, also hand carrying the tree out of the yard. I had some leland cypress trees I wanted trimmed and they offered to add on for another $300. I decided to do myself and fell off my ladder in the process. The chiropractor bill was also $300...but that's another story, other than I probably should have left it to professionals. They put the debris out front and had it picked up the next day and finished the cleanup. Treejob did a great job and I was very happy. I probably wouldn't have thought anything of it, but I signed onto Angie's List because of some other work I am about to do at my home. I checked out Treejob to see what they looked like and really was surprised. I never would have used them had I just looked at reviews. I was shocked to the point I actually called back Trip and asked him why everything about them looked so bad. His answer was the company just does most of their marketing door to door, they don't focus on making sure people review them. He said they are actually one of the largest tree services in Atlanta and have about 300 customers per month. One or two customer's per month, they just can't satisfy no matter what they do. His explanation of why bad reviews outnumber good ones, is because people expect good service when they hire Treejob and just don't go bouncing around writing reviews because they had high expectations to begin with. I probably would have thought it was a sales line, but it kind of fit my exact situation. I wouldn't have wrote anything about them, but I was really happy. I paid more, I should have been. They did do a great job though, so I wanted to give them some credit I feel they deserve. Looking at some other reviews, I don't understand the F ratings being given for someone knocking on the door. They didn't even give them a chance. I personally would rather give my money to someone out working all day and wanting my business. At least the guy is out trying to make something happen. F rating just because someone knocked on your door is out of line. My experience with Treejob was great. I've had tree work done in the past, many times. I'd use Treejob again without question.

Tree Job sales people cold-called at our door, which I did not appreciate. But since we were already in the process of getting competing quotes for some needed tree work, we let them go ahead and quote too. They were very professional (nice truck, polo shirts with logos, name badges), polite, and knowledgeable. Minor concerns: unless I misunderstood, they said they use subcontractors for their work, which I don?t see noted in their Angies listing. And they wrote their quote on the back of a flyer that said ?10% off.? When I asked about the discount, they said the flyer offer had expired (noted on the flyer, it expired in 2009), and they had already given me a discount due to the size of my job. Not a big issue. Major concerns: high quoted price, and pressure to sign up on the spot. I needed 12 pines and one maple tree cut and removed, with no stump grinding and no worry about damaging the ground below. Their $3,900 quote was 100% higher than the lowest competing bid, and 50% higher than the highest competing bid that I later received. Do the math, that?s a lot of money. They said they would be in my neighborhood doing work for some of my neighbors the following week, and offered a $200 discount if I would sign up on the spot. I said no thanks and waited for my other quotes
Description of Work: I didn’t actually have work done by Tree Job. I’m writing this review to advise about their pricing. Make sure you get competing quotes before you hire.

I told the sales guy after he knocked that I was not interested in his service and we had a no soliciting policy in our neighborhood. There is a sign to that effect at the entrance. I asked him to stop and he rudely told me they would continue. He was unprofessional and rude. I expect that their service is the same based on the reviews here. First impressions mean a lot.

Description of Work: This company is a sham. I am warning everyone to run away, as far as you can, from this sham of a company. I saw their yard sign in my neighbor's yard; therefore, I gave them a call. A young man named Jeremy Tonjes came the next day and gave us an estimate of $3200 to remove a very large tree next to our house. I realized in talking to him that he was with the same company that I had obtained an estimate from a year ago and I recalled that that estimate was in the amount of $900. At that time I became concerned that it was too low. We had several estimates for the same scope of work and they were all over the map. We put the project on hold but realized this year that we needed to take care of it. The tree was dying and had already dropped dead limbs on our house. I had done some research and found that the price quoted by Jeremy was reasonable compared to the price that other home owners had paid for similar scopes of work. Jeremy made reference to the fact that the company was insured and, although we did not receive a copy of this information, he flashed a page covered in text while he conveyed the coverage provided by the policy. He also warned us that they would probably need to remove a portion if the fence adjacent to the tree and we agreed that this was fine. The city arborist approved the removal of the tree and within a week's time the crew came to take down the tree. In doing so they, unfortunately, let several large limbs fall onto the house which damaged the roof, the eave and the rafters along the edge of the roof. In addition, the main electrical panel, conduit and wires on the house were also damaged. My husband took photos of the damage and told them that we would not pay them until they fixed the damage to the roof and the electrical panel. The panel was literally dangling off the side of our house and the vertical conduit that extends through the roof was left precariously dangling above. Jeremy and a fellow named Justin came back and discussed the issue with my husband several times that week. Although they did repair the electrical items they did not take any responsibilty regarding the damage to the roof. Since they did remove the tree, and were tidy regarding their cleanup, my husband elected to pay them 100% although they refused to repair the roof. In hindsight we should have withheld some of their payment until after the damage was resolved. Since then we have obtained an estimate from a contractor to repair the roof. The repair cost is $6500. I have called treejob.com numerous times, left multiple messages and have gotten no response. I have sent emails to the company, to Jeremy Tonjes, left messages for their customer service rep. and have gotten no response. Every time I call I get an answering service and no one who works for tree jobs.com ever answers the phone. Sometimes when I call the phone service answers the phone "tree service.com" or "treeservicecare.com"; therefore, I am beginning to wonder if this company actually exists. Our next step is to have our attorney write a letter. Although we agreed with the fence removal we were not warned that tree limbs might fall on our house and damage our roof; therefore, we believe the they should pay to repair the damage. Long story short: Do not hire tree job.com. You will regret it.

A neighbor recommended I call TreeJob for an estimate on a dozen or so trees I needed cut down and removed. I spoke with the same sales rep my neighbor had talked to. He came out with one of his crew supervisors. They came to write up an estimate at more or less the time arranged (somewhat late, but I was home all day anyway). They assessed the job and gave me a ballpark price range for the job. The estimate was competitive, but based on committing to the job and signing a contract right there, right then. I then began asking questions of regarding the TreeJob's references, reviews on Angie's List, Kudzu and Yelp and the company's licensure and history in Georgia. It became obvious that I'd done fairly thorough research on the company and it's customer satisfaction ratings in my area. The sales rep and his crew chief left shortly, promising to email a formal estimate by the end of the day. I never heard from them again and can't say I'm surprised, given their sales tactics. The neighbor of mine, who actually did sign a contract with TreeJob (but didn't front them any money), said they called the day they had scheduled to come take down her four large trees. TreeJob told her they wouldn't be able to do the job for the estimated charges and that they needed to cancel.

It was a very unsatisfactory experience. They came and did the job and didn't even let me know that they were coming to do the job. They didn't come to the door to let me know that they were here; I just heard the tree crash. I thought that was outrageous. They were not very careful. They also cut one of my electrical lines when they were doing the work. I deducted the total from what I paid them. They were terrible people to work with. I would absolutely not use them again.

They took the trees down, fine but damaged a dogwood and left it looking like someone took a machete to it. They also damaged a portion of our fence. We've been trying to two weeks to get this situation addressed. They promised to come back yesterday and did not show up. They promised to call today and did not. All we are asking is that they properly trim the dogwood and replace the piece of wood on the fence and re-secure the fence. The representative I'm working with is Jeremy Tonjes he's not their best foot forward. Very smug and acting like we're over reacting. His response is well what I tell you and what actually happens can differ. Yes it can, but when it does it should be addressed it in a professional manner.
Description of Work: We hired TreeJobs to remove three large pine trees from our backyard and grind the stumps. They did remove the trees, but they did additional damage to another tree. When they quoted the job they did say that they might damage two trees, but the tree that suffered damage was not one of the trees that they said could get hurt. They promised that if another tree was damaged they would trim it up.

Jeremy, the service rep, knocked on my door one day saying the crew was in the area and they would offer a discount for tree service. I received the quote, and they advised that the scheduler would contact me for a date. About a week later, the crew just showed up without a phone call. Luckily, I was able to partially supervise but had to leave before the work was finished. I did watch as they skillfully pulled down a tree close to the house. But watched in horror as a awkward leaning tree in the back fell and demolished two eigh foot sections of fence. They stated they would fix the fence, but we agreed that all they had to do was replace the fence materials and I would fix the fence. I had to leave, but on return and inspection, I found a third section of fence many feet away damaged. I also found the trees in the back had four foot stumps. I called the office and complained about the stumps and the fence. They said they would accomodate by coming back out with the fence materials and take the stumps further down. Many weeks and three more visits later, the stumps were cut down, and the materials delivered. I give them credit for skillfully pulling down the tree near the house with no damage, and to make right the cutting down of the stumps and delivery of the fence materials. But it took several weeks and phone calls to get them to complete the project. This was a few hour job that was stretched out many weeks. And for that I give them a "B", and would probably not use them again.

I am extremely pleased with the results and would highly recommend project manager Justin Hitt and crew supervisor Kyle Dutcher. I did hesitate after reading earlier reviews on both Angie's List and Kudzu, but I'm glad I gave them a chance. Based on the reviews, I was concerned about cleanup and follow-through at the end but had no issues at all. Note that most of the reviews here on Angie's List are several years old. Also, I am recommending the particular individuals who supervised the work and followed up at the end - Justin and Kyle. This job is one that I have wanted to do for the entire thirteen years that I have lived in my house, and I am glad that I finally had TreeJob do it for me. Several neighbors expressed interest in using them after observing their work.
Description of Work: TreeJob removed nine tall pine trees from my yard, all of which were very close to my house. One was also right next to a neighbor's fence. The crew worked from 9:00 a.m. until well after dark to finish most of the cleanup. The remaining cleanup and stump grinding were completed the next day. The crew also trimmed some other trees that were hanging over my roof. I was at home the entire time that the work was going on and had no issues and saw no signs of carelessness. I have had both higher and lower quotes for this work, but I was never interested in hiring the cheapest service for such a dangerous job. I found the $4900 very reasonable. There are houses near mine on both sides as well as above-ground power lines. There was no damage or issues with any of those.

They did not show up when first scheduled. They did not grind the larger tree stump below grade, it is actually about 2" above grade. I was out of town when they performed the stump grinding and upon returning I called them and told them that the stump had to be below the grade. They agreed to correct this on three seperate occasions but as of this date 09/02/2010, it still has not been corrected. On each occasion they promissed to have someone call and schedule a time to correct this issue. As of this date no schedule has been made. They requested payment in full when they just cut the trees and piled them up in the yard but I refused to pay until all agreed work was completed. I have confirmed that they subcontract part of their work and will now require an unconditional waver of lien form them and their subcontractor prior to payment. I have also informed them today 09/02/2010 that the work must be completed by the end of next week or I will have the work completed by others at there expense.

Very proficient, professional, & friendly to get job scheduled & done. However, they were to call when they were going to arrive, but did not. Once the trees were cut down, they removed the cut trees and the waste, but mounded the mulch in a huge 30 inch deep pile in the immediate back yard, not spread to the back as agreed upon. We tried calling politely to get the mound removed, but no phone calls were returned (at least 8 calls). Someone even stopped by to get paid, we showed them the mound. He indicated he would have someone come to fix it. Another week and more messages later, no action or response from TreeJob.com. We finally sent them a list of the messages with a letter (e-mail and certified mail delivery) threatening to not pay until the mound was removed or we would reduce the amount paid after we did it ourselves. Once they received the deadline, they had a backhoe there the next day to move it. Overall the work was sloppy - cut the trees and run to the next job.
