They were very thorough. They were on time. They gave me a price exact to it and they had it done on time.
Description of Work: We ended using a company called Team Turf. They put in a side patio and stone steps for us leading down to wood and they re-did the landscaping in the front yard.

Good.
Description of Work: Pick up and haul sticks and branches away
Service was mostly good, with occasional reminders of things forgotten. A couple of years ago they began outsourcing lawn treatments like chemicals for insects and weeds. Arbor-Nomics was the partner. I don't feel that my lawn looked that great, and a number of weeds and other things began to creep in - including they said fungus. When I called to ask them to point out the fungus to me - no one every came out. Jonathan of Team Turf came out a couple weeks later and we walked the yard, but he could not tell me where fungus was either - although they told me it would take 3 treatments and cost more money. The original team of 2 owners split up, and Jonathan Tucker retained the firm. I don't know if he got stretched thin, but my engagements with him for past 8-10 mos have not been as positive. Communication is sporadic. Answering machine messages sometimes not returned for a couple of days. Last winter the dead leaf pile remained in the street in front of my house blocking traffic for 2 days - when it should have been removed same day. Even though I phoned more than once. The statement was 'we were busy'. Not a good answer. Vines began creeping up my trees - something they are supposed to remove. Had to point it out. Lawn began to deteriorate in look and texture - and he told me that would cost extra from Arbor Nomics. Last month the crew cut my cable line while trimming. I did not know until a few hours later when the Comcast tech came out to look and repair. Clean slice. They had done the yard in the morning. The cable runs my business DSL and phones - which put me in a bind for half a day. When I mentioned this to Jonathan - he did not even apologize, but instead blamed the cable company for not installing the line properly. Lastly - the storm of June 13 with tornadic activity dropped a lot of debris and broken limbs in the yard. We cleaned it up into piles. The yard crew came on the next Monday and only removed what was in the front yard. When I called to ask about the back, they told me they'd take care of it, but Jonathan came out unannounced and went in our backyard (while I was on a client call) and then sent me an email to say it would cost extra to take that pile away. I felt that I was being charged frequently for additional work that should have been included in the monthly service fee. We paid $192 a month, + $35/mo for chemicals, extra for pine straw, mulch, various additional work. After 7 yrs and nearly $20k, I expected a little better treatment for client loyalty. I was told I could take my business elsewhere. We have ended service and are looking for a new yard maintenance company.
Description of Work: From June 2006 through June 21, 2013 -Team Turf was our primary lawn/yard maintenance provider. The crew came every Monday. Mowed, trimmed, cleaned up limbs, edged and took away the clippings. In the winter when there was no lawn to mow (dormant), they blew the leaves and would gather them in a pile out front to suck up.

Response from TEAM TURF LANDSCAPES
There are definitely two sides to every story, and there are definitely varying perspectives from which to view every client/provider relationship. We were contracted by this customer to offer basic lawn maintenance. Those services include blowing, edging, weeding, and general clean-up of lawns. Those items are listed quite plainly on the estimate sheet given to all of our clients, and we performed those services as contracted. She also chose to add a chemical program to her service plan, which does incur an additional charge because it is not part of basic maintenance. Chemicals used to be something we offered in-house, but it became apparent that out-sourcing it to a company that focuses solely on turf health would serve our customers better, which is why we now choose to partner with Arbor-Nomics (one of the most successful chemical companies in our area). One thing to note, however, is that if at any time our clients are unhappy with Arbor-Nomics, they are certainly free to seek chemical services elsewhere. The customer was given a quote for the basic services she hired us to perform. She approved the monthly service fee when she hired Team Turf, and it was always her decision to install pine straw and mulch and other various add-ons. These prices were also quoted beforehand and approved by the client. And for each service quoted and approved, the appropriate work was performed and completed. During the latter months of her time as a Team Turf customer, we contacted her to let her know that her chemical technician reported finding fungus in her yard. She was out of town at that time, and asked that someone contact her upon her return to point out the fungus. That request was passed along, and several attempts to contact her were made with no success. Eventually she called our office and requested a meeting with Jonathan. He met her at her property, and did not see any visual signs of fungus; we later discovered that because she has a Fescue lawn, the tech was quoting a price on preventative fungus treatments to ensure lawn health throughout the hot, wet summer. It was during this period that she left a voicemail at our office – either on a Thursday or Friday afternoon. The message was put to the side to investigate the fungus presence and was simply overlooked. On Monday, the customer called again and left a very ugly message at which point we called immediately and took full blame for the oversight in not returning the call immediately. It was an honest mistake, but we acknowledged the mistake and were very apologetic. Several weeks later we received another ugly message from the customer – our crew accidentally cut her cable line. We are very aware of how inconvenient something like this can be, especially when one works from home. However, the attitude and tone with which she communicated the situation to us was not necessary, and somehow the fact that the true fault lies with the improperly buried cable line never entered her mind – simply blame and anger directed at Team Turf. The final straw came just after that when a storm blew through our area. Trees, limbs, and debris covered many properties, including the customer’s. She called the office to inquire about the cost to remove a large pile of debris. Picking up small limbs and sticks can be done by our maintenance crews, but large debris piles have to be priced separately because we send a large dump truck and in turn have to pay for dumping fees. We gave her a quote, and also let her know that the county would remove the pile free of charge – even giving her correct contact information for this option. Supplied with a fair removal price from us, as well as the information to pursue free removal, she proceeded to rage at the price we provided that she felt was too high. She also felt she was “owed” something because she had been a client for several years. It was at this point that the owner of Team Turf let the customer know that we would no longer service her property and that she should look for another landscape company. Being a small business owner has its challenges, but one of the most obvious perks is being able to choose who to work with, and taking abuse from client is not something we will put up with. Yes, there was one instance where we were simply slammed and her leaf pile sat in the street longer than we anticipated. And yes, some services cost extra – that’s simply just a fact. And yes, a crew member accidentally cut a cable line that was lying above ground and behind bushes, and we even forgot to return a call immediately – none of these instances create a situation that validates her behavior, irrational expectations, or attitude. And that is why we chose to end our relationship with this client. Client loyalty is something that we honor and strive to hold onto at all costs, but we are only interested in fostering relationships with clients that are respectful, understanding, and realistic about the services they are paying for and the work they’ve chosen to receive. We regret losing any customer, but it became obvious to us that proceeding on with this particular individual would not be a positive experience, and thus we terminated interaction at our discretion.

I pretty much liked all their services. They were in and out relatively efficiently. They did not leave a mess and their price was okay. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Team Turf Landscape Management for landscaping and renovation. They redid beds with pine straw and installed stepping stones and 325 square feet of sod.

We did all the interaction through email and messages. I didn't have any personal interaction with them. They gave me a quote, and they were a little bit high compared to a couple of others that I had looked at, worked from Angie's list. I did not pick Team Turf. I see them almost every day across the street of my neighbor's house or at least once a month. Several neighbors recommended them to me; but I really don't have any interaction with them other than getting quote from them. They got right back with me.
Description of Work: Team Turf Landscape Management gave me an estimate about a month ago for landscaping work.
