Ski Tile

Excellent. Arrived as scheduled for an appointment. Reviewed the anticipated job and discussed type of tile which could be installed. We decided on 12 x 12 mosaic and discussed grout options. Ski based his bid on type tile, which we then bought. He also suggested types of edging and where to purchase. Basically, you buy the tile and grout, plus any edging required and he provides labor and install materials (mastic). Price is dependent on type of product to install. Our job required 43 sq ft and cost was very reasonable at $425. We set a date and Ski arrived as scheduled. Had tile installed in approx 6 hrs, cleaned up, and returned next day to grout. Again, arrived on time and completed in a few hours, cleaned up everything and left the area spotless. Will use him again.

Was very rude to me on the phone, and made it very, very clear that he is just too busy to even come to my home (which, by the way, is in the same town in which he lives) to give me a quote. I told him I understood that he is two months out on scheduling, but wondered if perhaps he could come to my home to give me a quick estimate on tiling the floor of our bathroom. He then became so rude with his response that I said, well it sounds as though you are a very busy man, to which he responded, you bet I am. Bye bye. And, in case anyone is thinking, oh maybe she deserved it ... I am a female, very soft spoken, and always very respectful of people in service industries. For instance, I didn't call him "Ski," I called him Mr. Ziolkowski. When he said he was booked two months out, I said, well, that may be okay, but could he come out sooner than that to at least discuss what we need done and give us an estimate. I was extremely polite to this man. I am nice to people because (1) we should treat people with respect and that's what I was always taught and (2) I am very sensitive to when people are mean or rude to me and get sad and hurt. That's how Mr. Ziolkowski made me feel. He obviously doesn't care about new business.

As part of our kitchen refresh project, we hired Ski to tear out our old tile backsplash and install a new one. Ski came in on short notice and gave us great advice on how to pick out wall tile and suggested a few patterns and designs. This was our first major project since we bought the house and as with most home owners, we had a hard time deciding among various designs and tile material choices. At first we picked out a simple 4" square ceramic tile with bull nose trim and a smaller 1" square glass tile as the accent piece, laid out in a pinwheel pattern. But once we bought the tile, we changed our mind and decided to go with a 12" subway style mosaic pattern. At the last minute, my wife wanted the glass accent tile incorporated into the new mosaic layout and Ski was able to make that happen. Additionally, Ski installed a "portrait" focus area above the cooktop with an all glass tile. Since this was part of a kitchen refresh that included new countertop, sink, appliances etc., we were told at the last minute that the old tile had to be removed much sooner than we had anticipated, to accommodate the new range hood we were putting in. Ski was able to come in at the last minute and take care of the old tile removal and drywall patching, which enabled us to stay on schedule. Overall we couldn't be happier with Ski's work. He was a thought partner, came in and did his work within the estimated time and budget and accommodated out last minute requests without flinching. We strongly recommend Ski for any tile project.

Excellent service. Ski provided a fair estimate. He scheduled and completed the job exactly within the explained time frame. Ski is a true professional. He went out of his way to explain how to maintain the backsplash, and even offered advice on how to maintain our tiled kitchen floor. I would definitely recommend him for any tile job.

WOW. The new floor looks great. Mr. Ski arrived on time, moved all of the furniture out of the kitchen and laundry room. Removed all of the old flooring and cleaned up as he went. He installed the new tile, grouted it and applied a sealer. Once again, cleaned up as he worked. He then replaced all of the shoe molding and moved the furniture, washer and dryer back into place. Shortened the doors and re-installed them. Did a final cleanup and asked us to do a final inspection. Great job! It looks great and will last for years to come.

Ski is great! Gave us the quote without any drame and showed up when he said he would. Laid the tile and cleaned up after he was done. Place was cleaner when he left than when he got there. Nothing bad to say at all- good guy, professional, obviously good at what he does. We are hard to please and could not find a single thing to complain about. One of the best experiences during our remodel.

Ski returned my phone call within 24 hours and set up a time to look at the project. He came out on a Saturday and even though he was booked through June, he was able to work in my job between others because it was small. We set up a start date and he arrived as promised. It was a two day process due to drying time and he was punctual to every visit. His work was flawless and I couldn't be more pleased. His experience in laying tile is evident in the way he works and his end product. I would definitely use him again. But a word of advice . . . book him now and be willing to wait if he's not available right away.

Ski visited our home and brought samples of various types of tiles and helped decide which tiles would look best with our new cabinets. He scheduled the day and time for installation and let us know the job would take 2 days. He showed up on time and as scheduled each day. He worked diligently to set the tiles, answered any questions and made us feel comfortable as the job progressed. He is professional, courteous and a real craftsman. We are very pleased with our new backsplash. We have already scheduled another project for him to do and will definitely refer him to any friends and family that would need this type of work.

Could not have gone better. Ski was very professional and did a beautiful job. He was punctual and concentrated on his work at all times; without distraction from phone calls and idle chit chat. He was efficient and communicated well so that we knew exactly what to expect. We are so impressed with Ski's price/performance that we are bringing him back for more tile work.

Mr. Ziolkowski came by to provide an estimate the day after I called. He was able to schedule the work for the next week. I selected a plain white tile in a regular brick pattern. On his laptop, though, he had examples of much more complex and interesting tile installations that you could choose. He carried a sample of tiles with him but also would use a different tile if you had selected one at a store. He arrived on schedule, completed the work and cleaned up afterwards. I would say the tile looks perfect; no gaps or slants or whatever. I felt his price for the work and tile was very reasonable.

Installer came to our house to measure and provided us with a quote then came back to perform work on time and on budget. We are very pleased.

Very efficient and quite reasonable for the two full days he spent knocking out the old tile, replacing with new and filling in with grout. Made a huge difference in our kitchen and we're pleased with the results.

From the initial phone conversation to the completion of the job, Ski demonstrated a mastery in his chosen craft. His quote was accurate. He told me exactly how much material he would need- and he needed exactly that amount of material. His quote was fair, the work done was superb. This job went smoothly throughout. Mr. Ski inspected the old floor and told me why the cracks probably had occurred and explained what he would do. Since we were not replacing all the tile in the rooms, he explained the few minor issues we might face with trim work. The price estimate he gave was in line with expectations and he explained exactly when he would do the work. Mr. Ski showed up at the appointed time and removed the old tile with a minimum of dust. Each day, he would explain the next steps in the process as the project progressed with installation of new tile. He was courteous and he cleaned up the job site each day.The final job was excellent and we were happy that he was able to work around some of the trim problems he had mentioned earlier. This is virtually a one-man company. With the exception of an assistant during the demolition phase, he was the only person with whom we had contact. No subcontracting, no finger-pointing, no hassle. Just quality work at a reasonable price.
