 + -1 moreTHIS PROBLEM HAD BEEN REPAIRED BY A DIFFERENT COMPANY IN 2001, BUT THAT REPAIR WAS INADEQUATE. THIS TIME, KENNY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE ENTIRE SECTION TO PREVENT RECURRENCE. CAME OUT SAME DAY TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. PROMISED TO BE OUT NEXT MORNING BY 9:00, BUT GOT HELD UP AT SUPPLY HOUSE FOR OVER 1 HOUR. THEY GAVE US A CALL TO LET US KNOW WHY HE WAS RUNNING LATE. REPAIR WAS COMPLETED BY 1:30 PM.
Description of Work: DRAIN PIPE REPAIR. FOUND HOLE IN CAST IRON DRAIN FITTING LOCATED BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND FLOOR. THEY REMOVED THIS FITTING AND A SECTION OF DRAIN AND THEN REPLACED IT WITH PVC PIPE AND FITTINGS.

 + -1 moreI CONTACTED HECTOR & THE MANAGER, BILL BOYKIN, TO DISCUSS. BILL SAID MORE THAN ONCE HE WOULD LOOK INTO IT & CALL BACK. HE HASN'T CALLED BACK. I'VE LEFT MANY VOICE MAILS. I BELIEVE THE $290 SHOULD BE REFUNDED. TAKE YOUR PICK: THEY'RE EITHER OVERPRICED, OR NON-RESPONSIVE. IT'S A SHAME THAT IT'S SO HARD TO FIND A GOOD PLUMBER. PART OF THE JOB ALSO CONSISTED OF TESTING THE DRAIN LINES TO MAKE SURE THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE VOLUME OF WATER FROM THE WASHING MACHINE. AFTER A FEW WASHES, THE DRAIN LINE BACKED UP AND COVERED THE FLOOR. IT APPEARS THAT THE DRAIN DOESN'T ACTUALLY WORK, AND IT SOON FILLED UP WITH WATER. I REGRET THE DAY I USED MR. PLUMBER. I'M CONTACTING ANOTHER PLUMBER TO STRAIGHTEN THIS OUT RIGHT NOW. I'VE STILL HEARD NOTHING FROM THE MANAGER, BILL BOYKIN.
Description of Work: THE OBJECTIVE WAS TO INSTALL A STACKABLE WASHER/DRYER. THE QUOTE WAS TO HOOK UP THE WASHER AND HOOK UP THE ELECTRIC DRYER. HECTOR WAS HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY, AND HE WORKED OUTSIDE OF HIS HOURS FOR ME (SATURDAY). BUT THE PRICE WAS OUTRAGEOUS FOR THE SIMPLICITY OF THE WORK DONE, AND SO WERE QUOTES FOR ADDITIONAL WORK, IN MY OPINION. OF COURSE, THAT'S MY FAULT FOR AGREEING TO THIS JOB AND MISUNDERSTANDING THE REQUIREMENTS, BUT ID BE VERY SKEPTICAL NEXT TIME. I SHOULD HAVE DONE THE WORK MYSELF; IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN ME 1.5 HOURS AND COST ABOUT $10. FOLLOW-UP: I'VE GIVEN THEM A MONTH TO RESOLVE THIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS HECTOR, AND HE DID A GOOD JOB. WE HAD AGREED ON $500, WHICH WAS CONSISTED OF HOOKING UP THE WASHING MACHINE ($148), DRILLING HOLE FOR ACCESS ($100), AND HOOKING UP THE ELECTRICAL ($290). (IN THE END, HE JUST SAID $500.) I PAID THE $500 WHEN FINISHED, BUT UPON REVIEWING THE WORK, I REALIZED THAT HE HAD DONE NOTHING REGARDING THE ELECTRICAL. I HAD TO HIRE AN ELECTRICIAN.

ALSO HAD A SUMP PUMP PROBLEM THAT WAS RESOLVED WITH $85. THAT COMPARED TO THE $600 RESOLUTION FROM SOMEONE ELSE A YEAR BEFORE. WAS HESITANT USING A BIG COMPANY BUT THEY WERE MUCH BETTER THAN MY NEIGHBORHOOD PLUMBERS THAT DON'T EVEN RETURN PHONE CALLS.
