After over two years of issues with our Heat&Glo fireplace resulting in 4 visits and $1000+ in service charges and replaced parts we are still left with a fireplace that randomly cuts off and on. The last response from this group was to blame the issue on the overall gas supply but after having the gas company check every line pressure and connection twice it is obvious that the issue is the lack of experience this group has with existing fireplaces. They are more than happy to sell you a new system but are out of their league when it comes to servicing a unit outside of a simple cleaning. Since they tried chasing the issue by randomly replacing parts (that did not fix the issue) we are back to square one and are now looking for another company to service the system. Lesson learned the hard way - stay away from this company.

Awesome! This is an update to a review I posted 2 years ago. We are still in love with our wood burning insert, purchased from and installed by MHF in 2014. We have found that using the insert, along with the fan that blows heat in to the room, consistently keeps our house 4 - 5 degrees warmer than we have the heater thermostat set to. We have MHF come out once a year for a maintenance check-up. Each visit has been exactly the same level of service and professionalism we experienced when we initially chose them to purchase from.

Description of Work: I was provided a quote for a wood burning insert for $3000. When I went back to the store to give them a deposit and schedule the work the quote had changed to nearly $3800... With no explanation ... Classic bait and switch fraud technique ...

I wanted to upgrade our standard wood burning masonry fireplace to the convenience and efficiency of a gas insert. Due to the size and style of insert I wanted. I shopped online first and found the brand and model insert I thought would work for me. Metro House of Fire was the local dealer for this brand. So I visited their showroom on Saturday. They carry several brands and have quite a few models setup in their showroom (including the one I was interested in). I discussed my needs with the sales person and he walked me through a couple different options from several of the brands they carry. I appreciated the fact he didn't immediately just sell me the unit I had selected from the internet, but explain a few other options so I could make an informed decision. He gave me a couple of brochures so I could review with my family. After further review and research at home, we decided to move ahead with Metro House of Fire. I went back to the showroom and put in the order, including having them perform the installation. Total came in actually a bit less than what I had expected, which was good news. Lead time was about three weeks and I paid a 50% deposit. I called them a couple days before the scheduled installation date to confirm. All was good. On the planned day, the technician showed up right on time. Installation took about 6 hours. Tech was very thorough, and the installation was very professional. He left after showing me all the work, how the unit functioned and confirming everything was clean. I am 100% satisfied and would absolutely recommend Metro House of Fire.

There was some initial trouble getting things worked out with the sales person (we had started with one person who gave us info that didn't match what the second person said) but once we started dealing directly with the install tech, it went much better. Their price was significantly less than RS Andrews. The install went very smoothly and they are trained and certified to move the existing gas line to connect with the new fire place so we didn't have to get a second company for that piece. It looks and works great and the install tech made sure that the new face covered the area where the old wood burning stove had been so discolored bricking doesn't show. We have been enjoying it on the cold days we have had. So easy to come home and turn it on with the remote! We might have chosen a different style for more heat dispersion if we had gotten better info when we visited the store but we like the look of this one better so it is a bit of a trade off and we are happy with what we have. There are lots of options for gas fireplaces - different manufacturers, different features. We spent a lot of time researching these so we could be sure we got a brand that had a good warranty and was reliable. Once we did that, there are a limited number of carriers/salespeople for each brand. So you want to figure out what manufacturer you want first and then check the reviews of the carriers.

Before Snowpocalypse 2 in Atlanta, 2014, we became concerned about the threat of power outages and a possible need for an alternate heat source for our home. Our old masonry fireplace, which had been converted to gas, was rarely used. The most frustrating point on a list of problems was that it gave very little heat. We had a chimney sweep company clean and assess the fireplace later that summer, only to discover a long list of repairs needed to make it safe. And if we chose to address the expensive list, our end-product was still an inefficient heat source. We toured several fireplace showrooms in the Atlanta area, but found Metro House of Fire to be the best resource for getting specific information regarding replacement options. Hannah graciously spent as much time as we needed to answer numerous questions. Then Jeremy helped fine-tune our last trip in to the store to pick the best option for us. The result was a wood burning insert we LOVE! The crew that came out to do the install were on time, professional, and did the job with no damage or mess. The insert fits the opening of our fireplace, so the finished product is a beautifully updated fireplace that is safe AND a great source of heat. Our wood burning insert has an astonishing "clean" burn rate (90+%!), thanks to new technology. The "greenstart" ignition makes starting it effortless. And the heat we have enjoyed this winter season has not only raised the overall temperature we keep our home at, but lowered our heating bill! We love, love, love the product and really appreciate all of the assistance we received from Metro House of Fire in the decision-making, purchase and installation process.
Description of Work: Helped us choose the best option to update our existing masonry fireplace. Sold us the final choice. Installed it.

The quality of the work is excellent and they were remarkably clean. They were the only place we found in Atlanta that had (very expensive $4200) modern, European-style freestanding stoves. Of course they also have more traditional, less expensive styles. Showing up on time for appointments is not their strong suit. We'd call to find out why they hadn't shown up yet and we'd be told: oh, they are just leaving ( it's a good 30 min drive from their store to our house). We picked a grey stove from a catalog where it had a matching grey stove pipe. The stove as installed had a black pipe that didn't fit the color scheme of the stove. When we called, they said: Oh, sure, we can spray paint the pipe to match. Well, shouldn't they have asked us what we wanted? They then took 2 months to get the paint. But when they finally painted it, again the quality of the work was great, the guy covered large parts of our living room to protect it from the paint and we didn't have to clean anything afterwards. We would definitely use them again and recommend them. Just know that they will take a while to get the job done.
