I was very pleasantly surprised. True to their word, David Brinkman, the tech, called me a little after noon and said he was about an hour away, but would call me when he was about 10 mins. out. He did and arrived at 2:10 pm. He did a thorough check of my furnace, found the problem (it was a minor one), fixed it, and only charged me the service call charge of $29.95. He actually said he felt bad about charging me since he hardly had to do anything. He was extremely pleasant and professional. I was on my way back to work at 2:30 pm. Sometimes people only share their bad experiences, which may be the case here, and I am sure it depends on the technician that handles your service call, but I was very satisfied and will not hesitate to call them again.
Description of Work: I woke up this morning to a very cold house - checked my furnace and it would not come on. We had our Trane installed by this company several years ago so I gave them a call. They scheduled my appointment between noon and 3:00 pm for today and said the tech would call about 30-60 minutes before coming. THEN I went online to Angies List to check them out and was dismayed to find just negative reviews. But the call was made, they had installed our furnace and we had never had a problem with it, so decided to take a chance and go with them.

I have an investment property where three years ago the hvac stopped working. Mechanics recharged the freon. When the system again they recommended replacing the outside unit because according to them it was the source of the leak. So we did. Fastforward a year, the HVAC stops working again. This time a new technician from Mechanics said the leak was somewhere in the duct. He said that he doesn't use a "sniffer" tool because they don't work - but that was the tool that was used to recommend that the other unit be replaced. He also quetioned some ot the work the previous technician had done. All in all, a very questionable experience that left me felt taken advantage of. As others have noted, I think it is wierd that you have pay the technician directly. We won't be using them again.
Description of Work: System evaluation, tefalon duct sealer

They came out to my home, told me what they needed to do. They had me put $500 down on the job. I called them on Sunday, the woman who answered said they would call me back, which they didn't. I haven't heard anything from them since.
Description of Work: I put down $500 for them to fix my AC unit. He has down that he is supposed to fix fan blades, a condenser, and a blower motor.

When we called them out to fix the air conditioner, we were told we have a leak, they would charge us $350 to look for the leak but no promise they could find it. they wanted to charge us 4500 for a new 2.5 ton ac unit. Shumate put it in for $3000 and found the gas leak that Mechanics left us with because they didn't tighten a bolt. You have to write the check to the installers, you don't have recourse against the company.
Description of Work: In fall of 2010, they replaced our downstairs heating unit. Come spring and our first time trying to use the airconditioner, it didn't work. The coil for the air conditioner being on top of the new heating unit. Of course the high cost to repair the 15 year air conditioner didn't make sense.
