Description of Work: I contacted LJIA to perform brick "point up" repairs on a number of sections in and around my home. This included removing cracked/missing mortar around sections of my garage where I had a few loose bricks, pointing up mortar in a few other sections where the mortar had cracked or worn thin, acid washing some areas of brick where a prior painting company had splattered paint on some of the brick in the back of the home (prior to my purchasing the home) and applying new mortar between a set of brick steps on the side of the garage to "reattach" them back to the home. | |Overall, the workmanship was decent and the guys from the crew who showed up to my home went above and beyond and made a few additional repairs I pointed out and stated I would be willing to pay for but they did this at no charge so I was very pleased with this. | |Couple items to note: The repairs, in total, took no more than 1 hour which included the acid washing. The $385.00 cost included an Angie's list deal coupon I purchased which was for $150 worth of services for $100. In essence, the materials used to perform the work (mortar, acid wash and pressure washer) could not have cost more than $35 worth of materials, the rest was for labor. Considering the cost, and how quickly they repaired all of the items I requested to be worked on, it is hard for me to understand how the total price came to what it did. Also, where I had the bricks and the mortar missing around the front garage door frames, the new mortar put in has already begun to crack because the seam is too thick. The correct way to have repaired this would have been to removed the bricks completely from the thin'set holding it against the home, grinding down that material, re-adhering it back to the home with the appropriate amount of space between the bricks next to it and then tuck pointing the mortar in between the bricks. This would have resulted in a consistent "seam" between all the bricks. The same area repaired for the side steps had this same repair down, they removed the old mortar and just put in new mortar, this area is now cracking as well because the seam is too thick. | |I will most likely over time have to have this repair performed again at some point. I would not utilize LIJA to perform the work however. A recommendation for the owner of the company might be that he goes beyond the work his crew is performing to ensure it is done with quality and meets certain standards or hire someone on his crew to perform this same activity.

+ -1 moreA car hit our brick pillar containing our mailbox and demolished it. I called LJIA Masonry which was the only masonry company I called that could squeeze me into their schedule on short notice (we needed our mailbox back, and there was brick debris all over the driveway!). We received two quotes for the service -- LJIA was 1/3 the cost of the other quote! Erica at LJIA was awesome to work with - she responded to emails and phone calls immediately, and scheduled the guys to clear away the brick debris right away. She even had the guys go to Home Depot to buy a mailbox to install in the brick pillar since I was out of town and couldn't provide one. I loved working with LJIA and would definitely use them again. Our mailbox pillar looks better than it did to begin with!

+ 2 moreEverything went very well with Israel and his crew. They worked without interruption and were skilled. Israel was very efficient in his communications and stuck with his promised scheduled time. I would definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: LJIA repaired front steps which had dropped and separated from main porch. They also installed a 10 x 12 brick paver patio.

+ 3 moreWhen I was looking for a company that could help me in creating a magnificent patio, pergola and outdoor kitchen in my backyard, I searched on Angies list and through friends and word of mouth recommendations. One company came up in the research and it was LJIA Masonry in regards to artistic results and highly rated reviews from their clients. When we first met with israel everything was handled very professionally and quickly. israel reviewed the layout of our backyard and what we wanted to create. He gave us many options and suggestions of what we can do to make our backyard look beautiful. After we made a final decision on the project and materials we received a proposal that was specific in regards to cost, payment and time frames. After accepting the proposal Israel directed us to his stone suppliers so that we could pick out the exact type of stone that was going to be used in our project. Even the stone suppliers had wonderful things to say about Israel and his team. Israel's sense of design was really good and he gave us exact drawings of the outdoor kitchen he was going to build. He made sure we knew about each detail and involved us in the design process. Everyday Israel and his team arrived on time. They were incredible craftsmen and even our neighbors were in awe at how they cut and placed every stone exactly where it was suppose to fit into the outdoor kitchen and patio. The crew was very polite and nice and also left the work site very clean at the end of each day. The entire project was completed in about two weeks. It was amazing how well they managed their time. When the job was completed Israel reviewed the work and made sure all our expectations had been met. He has great customer service and I cannot say enough good things about Israel and his team. We love our new outdoor living space and look foward to using it all the time. I would highly recommend LJIA Masonry to anyone looking for high quality workmanship and great customer service. Thank You for an awesome job!
Description of Work: LJIA Masonry installed a gorgeous flag stone patio, pergola and outdoor kitchen. Our yard had a lot of empty space and not much of any outdoor living space and the new patio and outdoor kitchen is now a beautiful focal point and gave us much needed outdoor living space.

+ 5 moreI made contact with them through purchasing a Big Deal. Their response was prompt, and they gave me a quote for each of the projects I was considering, which I thought was very reasonable. A team of three workers came out the following week and completed both jobs in 3 days, despite periods of bad weather. First project: The newly redone cement on the shed's foundation looks great. Second project: I don't have a driveway, but in recent years heavy traffic had created some mudholes near the easement that provides entry to my property. I had wanted to do pavers just at the entry but after some conversation with the foreman about the amount of traffic that the area gets, I decided on doing a larger area, with a combination of concrete and pavers. It turned out great. The workers cleaned up the area, the foreman kept me apprised of what was going on, and I am very happy with the results of both projects. I plan to call on them again for some other projects.

+ -1 moreThe appointment was set very quickly after buying the coupon. The mason arrived within a reasonable time of the scheduled time. the only issue we had was a bit of a language barrier. At first, the mason was going to re-mortar the loose block of bricks and that would not have kept them in place. After we achieved an understanding, he took care of the job in a very professional fashion. We are pleased and recommend this vendor
Description of Work: front steps needed mortar repair. There was an area of maybe 7 bricks that was loose from the steps. they repaired the grout and took out the block of bricks and relaid all of those.

+ 2 moreOne of my dream was to have an outdoor kitchen because I love to cook. Everyone has their own skills and my skills is I love to cook. I hire this wonderful company who was highly recomended to me by a close friend because they did work for them. The work they did for them was a beautiful masonry project. One of the project was a really nice grill and the other one was a magnificent bar. Since my friend was so pleased with the beautiful work they did he referred them to me. Israel and his team was really helpful to build my dream with his incredible ideas and experience on how to build an outdoor kitchen with all the necessities for a real kitchen but with outdoor living. I explained to them about the project I was looking to have done and they came up with some wonderful designs for my outdoor kitchen and the price was so much more reasonable than the other quotes that I have gotten. They were really patient and worked around our schedule to get the project started and finished and they finished the project much sooner than I anticipated. I thought doing this kind of project would be a nightmare but I was so surprised that it was not. Working with this company was really enjoyable and the process ended up going really smooth. I cannot express in words how happy I am with my new outdoor kitchen and how beautiful it came out. We use it all the time and have parties and everyone comments on how incredible the outdoor kitchen looks like, but the one thing that impressed me from them is when Israel approached me and told me Vanessa you are missing something which all outdoor kitchens should have and that is a pizza oven and the first thing that came to my mind is that he is awesome because now I can make my own fresh pizza for me and my family. So like always I let him and his team proceed and build with his wonderful ideas my new pizza oven.and I told them when they complete my dream outdoor kitchen I would make the first pizza for them. So I am reallty thankful for what he did and I will never forget this experience. I have given their card to a lot of people who saw the kind of wonderful work they did at my house and wanted work done at theirs. i will highly recommend them to anyone who wants masonry work done at their home and I will use their service again because they are reasonably priced and do an awesome job at their projects as well as they are really friendly, professional and easy to work with. Mr. Cabrera arrived on a seperate occassion, but because the morter he had was too dark, he came back a second time to do the job right. I was very grateful for his attention to detail and desire for the job to be done right. He was gracious and answered several other questions while on the job. I would definately use him in the future for any additional masonary work.
