I had used Limb-It-Less in the past with wonderful results from them, but decided to get some quotes from others for no apparent reason, just shopping I guess. This included a quote from a neighbor who has a tree service business, as well as from one of Angie's List's highest rated tree services in the area. Well, the neighbor thought the job was too small and didn't respond and the highest rated tree service quoted a ridiculous amount of money to take it down. So I called my go-to company, Limb-It-Less, and as usual, Matthew came promptly, quoted me a FAIR and REASONABLE price to take my poor tree down, and he did it will great skill, professionalism and humble demeanor. I see no reason to use anyone else in the future, and I appreciate Matthew's honesty and business acumen - it's rare.
Description of Work: Matthew came at the last minute at the end of the day on a Saturday to take down a dead 40-foot Cedar by the sidewalk at the front of my yard. I had a concern that it may be a danger to pedestrians in the neighborhood.

We have been using Matthew for many years to trim and address health concerns about our trees. Mathew is a certified tree arborist and that is a big plus to us! He and his crew show up on time and do a great job. Would definitely recommend him if you are looking for a tree person who knows what they are doing and at a fair price.

My friends who had some trees removed from their yard earlier this year and were very satisfied but thought the company might be a little too expensive for me suggested that I join Angie's list and find someone else who might be more reasonable. Therefore, I did join Angie's list and looked at companies and ratings for tree service. I chose to get an estimate from Limb-It Less because of the good ratings and it said that they have done work in my area. I was very disappointed when they left an estimate without any attempts to contact me. I was also unhappy with the amount of their estimate. My friends then gave me the contact information for the other company and they did an excellent job for almost half the cost. However, if Limb-It-Less really wanted to do the job and would have discussed the estimate with me, it is possible that I would have gone with them just because of their ratings and because I hadn't had this type work done before so might have thought that was the going rate. Now, I'm glad that they were so impersonable and hope others don't get fooled by their and quot;goodand quot; ratings. I hope this one brings their ratings down a bit.
Description of Work: Someone came and did an estimate without calling me first or contacting me in any way. In fact, I think I was home because I later found the estimate in my mailbox. The estimate was to remove a pine tree at the end of the driveway for which I asked to have an estimate and another tree which he thought was "thinning and leaning toward house". I thought the estimate of $1250 was outrageous and, therefore, asked one of my friends for the name and number of the company that serviced their yard, removing several trees earlier in the year. Even though they thought that company was kinda "pricey" they gave me the information. That company promptly came and gave me an estimate to have two pine trees removed and the total cost was $750. They did an excellent job with the tree removal and clean up. I asked them if they were on Angie's list because I wanted to give them a good review but they are not on the list.

I just so happened to be off the day of service and saw most of the work done. It was very amusing to see how skillful they worked to moved the tress with very little noise. I was also impressed with the equipment used to grind and mulch each tree, and clean up every wood chip/branch/leaf before payment was requested. My husband and I are fully satisfied with Limb-It-Less and will recommend to anyone. Thanks for letting me tell my story.
Description of Work: We had 10 trees cut down and 1 tree pruned away from the house. They removed 1- Bradford Pear, 2-Large Pines, 2- Oaks and 2- Sweetgums; they grinded all stumps and hauled away all debris. And, the cost included the fuel and disposal plus more.

There needs to be an and quot;incompleteand quot; grading category. He called on Thursday (09/08/11) advising he would be out that afternoon to look at the trees that would need (or not need) removal. He showed up at 4:30pm for the review. Very nice guy, very knowledgeable and personable. I felt that this guy knew what he was talking about. After the consultation was done, he said he would send me an estimate that night. Well, it's been 3 days now....and no estimate. I don't know what happened. Maybe he got real busy with work (which is understandable), but no email or phone call for 3 days after he said he would give me an estimate that night? I don't know if he just forgot about me or just didn't want to remove the trees in my backyard. I know he has my phone number because he called me and I checked my email spam folder and no email from him at all. UPDATE 09/12/2011- Received email quotation this morning.
Description of Work: Quote requested for dead tree removal. Only consultation was accomplished.

Matthew came out and inspected the property as promised and persuaded us to take down the entire tree even though we thought we wanted only the limbs trimmed back. Being that this tree is so huge, dying and sits up next to our rental home and we didn't have any extra money to spend; Matthew made it affordable for us to take down the entire tree as suggested. He also did exactly what he said he would do and mulched it all up along with the branches that were on the grounds from other tress and then blew off the entire roof and gutters for us as well. Although it cost more than what we had originally budgeted, we were very impressed with the job completed and the pricing for what was actually done. We will use Matthew and his company again when necessary. Thanks so much to Matthew. Tracey and Greg

Mathew came out to do the estimate and went over the job. He does not try to oversell and he is very knowledgeable and well-trained. The crew is also very experienced and they came in and got the job done. They had to climb up a very tall pine tree that was leaning onto another tree to get it down and they just did a perfect job. They also pruned 5 other trees, 4 of which were overhanging the house and one had been badly damaged by the storms. I was very pleased with their work and they came in under the estimate. I will use them again for all my future tree removal and pruning needs.
Description of Work: They took down 3 huge trees, two damaged by the storms plus they trimmed 5 other trees for me, one of which had a huge section damaged by the storms. They did a great job and were very professional. They came later than promised and proactively volunteered to take a good bit off the bill to make up for missing their committment which was much appreciated and more than fair. They knew what they were doing and were very easy to work with. Mathew is a certified arborist which made me feel very comfortable. I will definitely use them again and have already referred them to some of my neighbors.

Called Limb-it-Less to come look at some pine trees that I had concerns about that were leaning toward the house. Their arborist came and decided 3 trees were unhealthy and/or dangerous to the house. We agreed on a time for the trees to be removed and the crew arrived right on time and began work on them immediately. I watched them take down some limbs that were overhanging the house, and to my surprise, were able to take them down without so much as a single pine needle touching the house. They took down the rest of the trees and removed all of the debris with the same care, and left my yard looking like the trees had never been there. I was very pleased with Limb-it-Less and the work they completed.

After Matt's estimate their crew arrived the same week and completed the job in a day and a half. We have used this company, based on its rating on Angie's list, since 2007. We have a fairly large heavily wooded lot with a lot of mature trees. We need to have the ones near the house checked annually, especially after the drought. Limb-it-less cleans up the site completely, there is nothing left behind. This time they relocated a small japanese maple at no extra charge. Matt and the chief Tree foreman Gordon Grant are easy to work with, polite, and masters of their craft. They may not be the least expensive in the business but the work is of a very high quality, and there have been no accidents on the job. We are going to stick with them in the future!
Description of Work: We had a large dead oak tree in an area of our yard that has no direct access to vehicles, so the tree removal had to be done using ropes and saws with the tree sections moved out to the street by hand. Another extremely large pignut hickory has been inspected on a yearly basis by Matt Morgan of Limb-it-less. This year we were informed that it had developed root collar rot and would have to be removed. So there were 2 huge trees involved in this transaction

I set up an appointment with Matthew Morgan, a certified arborist, to give me an estimate for removing a maple tree that fallen and two other trees that were too close to the house. He arrived as scheduled and after giving me the estimate we concurred on a date to compete the work. His crew arrived as scheduled and completed the job in about four hours. They were very meticulous about cleaning up after removing the trees with no evidence that they had been there with the exception of the missing trees. I was very impressed with the overall job.

Limb-It-Less did a wonderful job. Matthew Morgan came out, looked at what needed to be done and gave me an estimate that turned out to be a firm price. He was very professional and helpful, even offering a copy of his insurance certificate. In spite of some misgivings on my part, his crew did the work while I was not at home. When I got home, I had to look twice to be sure that they had been there, as they had cleaned up every bit of debris. All the promised work had been done and done well. I will certainly use them again.

The crew arrived in uniforms and with a great deal of equipment to climb our very tall trees without using spikes on the bark. They did a great job of removing a lot of dead limbs very far up the trees and of taking down a tall pine and a small gum and carrying the pieces out of the back yard. They cleaned up everything and left the yard and the driveway very neat. The trees look great. Matthew pruned our large fig tree, and now it looks wonderful. As a certified arborist, he gave us great advice on our trees and we were very happy with all the work.
Description of Work: Matthew inspected the trees in my yard and identified one tree that needed to come down; he also marked several to remove dead limbs, and one fig tree to prune. The crew then came out and worked on the large trees; Matthew himself pruned and shaped the fig tree.

This is the second time we've used Limb-It-Less. Last spring we had seven unhealthy 80 foot pines removed. Limb-It-Less did an excellent job under difficult conditions then. When another 80 foot pine tree fell across the backyard in late February, we were confident hiring them again, even though they weren't the lowest bid. Aside from the contracted work, they also chipped a large amount of yard refuse that we'd cleared out ourselves, for no extra cost. Their arborist, Mathew, showed us how to identify poison ivy, of which we have a lot, and recommended a product to combat any exposure. Both were much appreciated. The crew chief, Gordon, took out an additional tree that he was concerned about, which we were very grateful for. The entire crew was professional, efficient, and very hard-working. I thought I would have to go out and rake the yard once they were done to pick up any debris, but they left the yard spotless. They also covered the ponds to prevent any of the chipped material from going in the water. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone with arborial tasks to be done.
Description of Work: Remove one downed dead pine tree and two other broken trees brought down by falling pine tree, cut stumps low to ground, hand carry out debris. Trees were covered in wisteria vines, clean cut from trunks of fallen trees and hand carry out. Removal of three downed pine logs in back yard, cut up and hand carry out. Remove one bent leaning pine tree in center of back yard, and one forked codomint pine tree from back yard.

I had been researching Tree Services on Angie's list for several weeks. I had read and re-read all of the wonderful reports on this company and had almost decided to call for an estimate, but kept putting it off. One afternoon I had been trimming some of my old shrubs and stopped for a break. I picked up my Angie's List Magazine and yet again my attention went to the ad section where I saw the ad for Limb-It-Less. I kept reading and came to an article on pruning shrubs and was surprised when I saw that Matthew Morgan of Limb-It-Less was the person that was consulted on proper pruning. I took this as a sign from above that I should go ahead and call for my estimate because dead wood was falling from my trees constantly. I called on Monday, February 15th and Matthew returned my call almost immediately. He came out that same afternoon and walked over my yard and provided me with a detailed estimate. I was very impressed with his knowledge and felt very at ease speaking with him. I did obtain two other estimates after I met with Matthew, all the while knowing that I would use this company. Limb-It-Less gave me the best estimate. I contacted Matthew on Feb.18th and gave him the go ahead to trim my trees. He said that he would call me after the weekend to set up a time and day for the work to be done. He did as he promised and the work was scheduled. Much to my surprise, they completed a job early and were able to get to mine a day early! Matthew Morgan and Gordon Grant arrived on time with their crew and the work began. Everything was completed in a matter of a few hours, with no problems at all! After the work was finished, Gordon walked around and pointed out everything that was done and made sure that I was satisfied. They removed all of the debris from the trimming (including the debris that I had piled up from trimming my shrubs) AND they disposed of the planter box that was taken out from underneath one of the oaks. My trees look great and I now have peace of mind when walking outside and working in my yard! I can honestly say that my yard was much cleaner after they left than it was before they came. I can't tell you how pleased I am!
Description of Work: .Trimmed dead wood and crossing branches from 7 trees (two maples and 5 large oaks), raised the canopy on two of the oaks and removed an old planter box from underneath one of them, handcutting the girdling roots which encircled the tree. They also provided mulch for the one large oak in my front yard.

Very pleased with service. Contacted Matthew prior to Christmas holidays for free estimate to drop 2 dead pine trees in back yard. He went out promptly to do survey and perform estimate. He found one additional diseased tree and provided reasonable estimate to drop the 3 trees. I contacted him again the week after New Years and gave the go-ahead to do the work. While he was on site I asked for estimate to remove a 4th tree in back yard that was hanging over the house. The estimate was fair and I had him take that tree down as well. The price did not include removing the downed trees as they were in wooded area of yard but I consider the amount very reasonable for downing the 4 trees and would recommend this company to friends.

The arborist who came to bid the job was very informative - very courteous. Crew arrived on time - very courteous also. One of the trees was touching our garage...probably 80ft tall. one man climbed to the top and starting cutting and lowering branch by branch, then pieces of the trunk down by a rope, men on the ground guiding and helping. Not a single problem!! Another tree that was 6 feet from our breezeway between garage and house was taken out - huge tree also! Some dead trees were removed - piece by piece roped down too. Then the trunks were felled. Everything was ground up and sprayed into the woods. Two small branches had fallen on the roof during the trimming - a man climbed up there to get them off - and while he was up there - knocked the wet leaves out of the valley on the roof! How nice. Blew leaves off deck, drive, and cleaned up after themselves perfectly.

It went well. They took care of the job quickly. As the trunk came down, it slid across two oak trees in the vicinity and scraped large patches of bark off. I called the owner and asked him to evaluate whether these trees would require any special care. He came over several days later and "traced the bark" (I don't know what this means) and said they would heal.
