The owner and staff were the utmost friendly, responsive, flexible with appointment, and overall professional. They are a fair priced outfit, experts on carpet cleaning and repairs, and perform a wide range of work while explaining things very clearly. The job took nearly a full day and the results were awesome - a complete transformation of our carpet! I recommend this company to anyone.

Excellent workmanship and customer service. Larry and Wes both spent time reviewing our situation and then "doing it right". They are "real guys" doing it right the first time.
Description of Work: We had carpets dry cleaned and due to previous wet cleaning, had rooms restretched. We were able to entertain that evening. Perfectly dry and spotless.

AWESOME! My husband called Hughes Dry and they explained their system very thoroughly - both on the phone and in person. We had four rooms cleaned and they look fabulous. Our basement carpeting was trashed as we recently had a party. It looks like new now! Everything smells great and it's not wet and soggy. In the past we have used carpet cleaning companies that have left our carpets drenched and smelling like a wet dog! This experience and outcome were 100% better. I highly recommend Hughes Dry. Their service and process are worth it!

I have been dealing with carpet cleaning for my personal house as well as a fraternity house on Georgia Tech's campus. I have used all kinds of carpet cleaners, and Hughes is by far the best. Their method is phenomenal. Instead of pushing the dirt down with dirty water and then attempting to extract the water, it is sucked up using micro sponges. I wish I had pictures to post for the difference between the Fraternity's carpet before and after. They are so good, I put them on a service contract. Great people and they really know what they are doing. I highly recommend them over any other carpet cleaner.

I wish I had a recording of the conversation between the client and my cs person. Her notes when he called on 5/28 that this was an empty ranch style house with a master, 2 standard bedrooms which he stated were 13x13, and a family room. Per her written notes, there was no mention of a dining room. Though our standard dining room price is $55, we graciously gave it to the client for $35. Could this possibly been an oversight on the client's part because he did not live there? Since he was not there when he called and he had little history of the house since he was moving in, perhaps the dining room was omitted. Perhaps it was our oversight in not making note of the dining room. It's possible. But we take orders several times a day. We repeat those orders back to every client to make sure we're on the same page, and then give an estimate that is usually within 5% on nearly all phone consultations. How is it that there was NOT a disagreement when the client was given a summary of the areas we were going to clean and price? That is a mystery! All my technicians are trained to introduce themselves and to ask the client to show them the areas that need to get cleaned with a memorized phrase, "Show me your areas of concern." We then match up our work order to reality. I can guarantee that the technician's first response was not, "Your invoice will be $35 more!" The client was asked over the phone if he had any concerns such as pet stains to which he responded, "None noted. The carpets look good." The experienced technician noted that there some pretreated stains in a couple of areas which lightened up considerably. Many pretreated stains often become set in and end up as permanent stains or spots that are not removable through normal means. NEVER do we guarantee that all stains will be removed in 22 years of business. Standard operating procedure is to pack areas that do not come out and give our product some extra dwell time. This was done and clearly noted on the client's paperwork that this was done with follow up instructions for him. Though this does not guarantee results every time nor is it promised, but it is often effective. If this does not work, then by definition it is a stain. Perhaps the client is referring to the bleached out spots in one of the standard bedrooms and family room. These are color losses and not stains. This is not a cleaning issue. Spot dyeing or patching are the only 2 remedies for this. Lastly, before we leave, we ask each client to do a thorough walk through and note any concerns that we can take care of while we're there. A self addressed, stamped evaluation card is left, and the client is asked to sign and approve of the cleaning. This was done and his signature and the technician's initials are plainly visible on our paperwork. All of this is done prior to collecting any payment. Why were we allowed to leave if the client was not happy with the cleaning? Why did the client sign and approve the cleaning is again mysterious?! It sure would have been nice to address these concerns while we were there making a special Saturday trip to Douglasville from Marietta. Hearing of these issues AFTER the fact and making them public appears cowardice since we take great pains to be accurate and implement customer service procedures designed to satisfy every client we serve. In summary, I thank the client for the "A" in professionalism. Since we can't turn back the clock and undo what has already been done, I can assure everyone that we are NOT a bait and switch company and that we operate with the utmost in integrity. I believe my next investment is a mechanism that records every conversation we have with every client which would settle with certainty verbal exchanges. Yet on the other hand, this happens so rarely, I may have to live with the fact that we've garnered an excellent reputation for our honesty and customer service and an occasional incident just comes along with the territory when serving the masses. Hughes Dry Professional Carpet Cleaning did a real nice job, a very good job. They had their booties on when they came in and they cleaned up their mess. We are having them come back to do our furniture, which they do with organic stuff. There had been construction done before we moved in, and we have done some ourselves. We don't think the ducts had ever been cleaned out! This house was built 1972 or 3, somewhere around there. With our allergies - and we are new in the area, we're from Michigan - and the pollen down here is incredible - we've found a new use for our snow shovels! The pollen is really tremendous down here, and it wasn't too bad according to the other people, but to us it was everywhere. Hughes really did a nice job cleaning up everything. It has only been a few days but we think the air is much better! They have those things they put in the ducts to clean them, but their machine quit on them, so they had to run up to their office to get another machine - they were only gone 15 minutes or so. They gave us a bit of a break on the price because of the inconvenience, which was real nice of them. I thought it was reasonable, because duct cleaning in Atlanta can cost $900. They do a lot of the big buildings and stuff, but they do residential too. We've never had to have ducts done before, they charge you by the duct, and we thought it was reasonable. They were responsive and on time, and very professional and polite. Really nice young men.

The carpet restretch and new threshold project went perfectly. It was a clean up service offered by another company who had damaged my carpet and threshold while performing a mold remediation. That's why I was not charged for it. I was pleased with the results. We also wanted our carpet cleaned after my mother-in-law used the bonus room as a bedroom while recovering from a broken ankle. Her wheelchair left black marks on the carpet and the area around the bed was grey with dust and spotted small food and beverage stains. Larry came out to sell me his carpet cleaning services. He told me they might not be able to get out the wheelchair marks, but said nothing about not being able to clean carpet that was grey around a bed from four months of use. The bed was only temporary so it was important to us to get the carpet in that room very clean-looking. Without checking reviews here or on Kudzu, I went with his services. (Will I never learn?) Positives: clearly non-toxic substances used during the carpet cleaning, pleasant smell, carpet only slightly damp afterwards, work was done quickly, carpet is free of contaminants (though it doesn't look new again), good responsiveness when I complained that the carpet had not been cleaned adequately. Larry, the owner, came out to redo the room for me. Negatives: not only was the wheelchair stain not removed, the area around where the bed was only marginally better; the cleaning process uses a fair amount of friction, which aged my carpet; and the first technician left me with at least an hour of work (vacuuming up the "sponges" he lay down over the problem areas that had not come clean). (Larry apologized profusely for that and said that shouldn't have happened.) After Larry basically redid the whole room for me and could only lift the stains a bit more, he shared that he couldn't get his own bedroom 100% clean in the high traffic areas, and that no carpet cleaning company could. That might be true, but I think I will try another company next time. I think he should have told me this BEFORE I hired him to do the work--he had ample opportunity to do so, and I had clearly said the stain around the bed was the main reason for our having the room done. Unfortunately, we will have to live with the stains for now, since we already sunk $125 into the cleaning. After he had taken time to redo the room, I did not feel free to ask for a refund; I just decided to share my experience here and alert others to potential problems. And the carpet is at least sanitized (I hope), so we feel confident playing with our child on it.
Description of Work: Replaced a threshold that was holding down my carpet (and had been damaged) and stretched carpet to contain shredding (at no cost to me.) Cleaned the carpet in a hallway and one large room. (Normally his carpet cleaning starts at $180, but we could pay less since the threshold work helped us meet that minimum price.)

We found this carpet cleaner in Angies List and called them to clean and take urine odor out. Initially the visit and quotation were done professionally and on time. First round of carpet cleaning required us to put some sponge like material on the carpet after it dried out. What a disaster ... the vacuum cleaner could not pull the fine particles out of the fiber but what is worse the carpet still had urine smell. We had to take out to the patio, beat it up to take the sponge like material out and called the cleaner again. They came a second time but could not do the job and did not offer a refund. Finally we had to take our carpet to Cristomar who did a FANTSTIC job but required another $300 expense. This company does not deserve to be listed on Angies List.

They did a great job. I think I spent around $500. They are good about pre-treating stain and they did that. They did the cleaning and that turned out really good. I would recommend them for the quality of their work. They were on time. They showed up when they were supposed to and took care of the furniture legs and things like that. They covered them up before they cleaned. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future.

Joey arrived on time and was very helpful and polite. He did a great job and I will be requesting him again. I will use the service again I do think the service is expensive about 40% more that a traditional cleaning service. I loved the fact that I could walk on the carpets in 30 minutes. Other services tell you a few hours but they really mean 12-15 hours before the carpets are dry. I did not like the smell associated with the cleaning material, but it did dissipate in about couple of hours.

I was not unhappy with the work and would use them again if unable to find somebody else, but just found the service awkward. The scheduling person was very casual, which I do not necessarily mind but for a first time contact and service request I felt it was a bit too casual and almost questioned the seriousness of the business. Their services sounded good using some natural products and not wetting the carpets, which raised my interest. As far as I can tell the jobs were done right and I was impressed with the cleanliness of the worksmen, leaving little if anything of dust or residue behind. One of the men called a couple of times on his cell phone during the job which I found not very professional (it sounded like personal calls), and the lead ended up filling in the job order/receipt using one of my walls by lack of a nearby table. Not a killer omission but certainly awkward. The scheduler called back to sign me up for a service contract which I simply did not want. She did not call back to press me on this, which I appreciated.
Description of Work: They cleaned all air ducts, over 20, and a few hotspot carpets in the house such as in the living room, the hallway upstairs, and our master bedroom. In addition, a couple of stains in individual rooms were treated.

I got one of the Angie’s List specials. I bought some of their extra services. I spoke to Crystal who is the owner and she got here within the window time she said she would be here. She did call and say she was on her way. I think she did a good job because when I asked her for estimates for other rooms she provided them and they seemed reasonable. She did a good job. Over the last 20 years I have done the cleaning my self and I don't have too much to compare her with. I think the price was reasonable though it did seem shocking to me because I am used to doing it myself. I would have scored her higher if she had removed the stain from the wall board. It was difficult to remove but not impossible and that's why I was disappointed. I had a couple of areas where I had stains and she was able to remove that so I guess her quality was good. I think I was just disappointed. She was probably right that stains around the base board can't be completely removed unless you use a special treatment.

This experience makes me strongly question the value or reliability of Angie?s List. This, after all, was an A rated company. Were the people at Hughes not so exceedingly polite and personable, Sean on the phone and George the technician, I would swear that we had been completely scammed. I requested an appointment to clean two room size oriental rugs (wool Dhurries, but, at the time, I couldn?t remember the name) and two love seats. Sean indicated that there might be a problem if the love seats were silk, but other than that there was no warning about his firm?s very great limitations. When George, as nice a guy as I?ve ever dealt with, arrived, he said that his 80 pound machine with its giant brushes would eat up thin rugs, so he couldn?t do them. He said the same about a 4 x 6 Chinese art deco oriental that I asked about, not wanting the trip to be a total waste. George said that he could do the love seats (and we decided to have him tackle two sofas as well), but his product could not take out the stains on the sofas or the love seats?these were dirt stains, not wine stains or something else difficult, by the way. George kindly folded our rugs, so we could take them to Sharian?s (which Hughes recommended as the real experts on orientals), and he did not charge us for one of the sofas, having only needed to scrub the seat of it. However, the bill was $343, and we have very little to show for the expense or the half day we wasted. Sean had told us that his firm has a minimum charge of $185 for coming to a house, and, perhaps, there would have been no charge had we sent George back at the outset?but no one at Hughes volunteered not to charge us. All in all, we should have been warned that this firm can only do thick carpets and provide, at best, limited stain removal on upholstery. Again, this was a disastrous experience.

Response from Hughes Dry Professional Carpet Cleaning
We apologize that we were not able to complete all the tasks and challenges that confront us. Many companies "try" to clean items knowing full well that their success rate is negligible. Since it is impossible to see every single job that we are faced with, we do the best we can to be fair and honest, try to gather as much information on the phone as possible, and give the technicians latitude to judge whether we can achieve a successful outcome or not. Incidentally, the technicians are NOT paid when they don't complete tasks. But we would rather error on the side of caution and not take a chance on ruining a furnishing and run the risk of an upset customer who expects the job done. To summarize what I think the feedback amounts to : 1. We turned down cleaning of rugs which the customer could not describe over the phone BUT we give the customer a solution and try to make it easier by folding up the rugs (extremely rare occurrence.) 2. We attempt to clean upholstery which are stained. Though the upholstery is clean and healthy but not stain free, we are chastised for not removing stains. 3. We are further chastised for charging so much which was discussed on the phone even after giving a cleaning for free for one on the furniture pieces. 4. We failed to tell the customer in advance that there never is a charge when we can't perform services. 5. There are over 150 combinations of fiber types when it comes to upholstery. It is virtually impossible to know for certain whether stains can come out. We do the very best we can with the the most advanced equipment in the industry to remove all stains. But the shear definition of a stain, it is a spot that is not removable through ordinary means. It is not a matter of lack of effort or knowledge since our technician has been with us for over 8 years! What may have looked like an "ordinary" stain because it was not wine may very well be permanent. A less than professional company would not have turned down the rug cleaning and ruined the rugs and not given the customer another source by which to get those rugs cleaned. A less than professional company would have charged full price and not sympathized with the customer and not discount the price. In summary, we feel we made the best decisions at the time and in no way feel that anyone was "scammed." There was no bait and switch, no price gouging, and there was total honesty at every step. To label this a "disastrous" experience I feel is a bit overboard.

I am grateful for the opportunities and overall patience to finally rectify and satisfy the carpet spot concerns for Mr. Schnell. In the 20 years of carpet cleaning, it is so rare to come across a cleaning issue that takes more than two visits. We realize the inconvenience that any customer goes thru in order to set up and schedule these repeat visits; however we are determined to deliver on our services toward complete customer satisfaction. I am most appreciative of Mr. Schnell’s willingness to trust our expertise and deeply respect the fact that a change of heart toward us was made.
