Very well. David provided a fair estimate after spending 45 minutes on the roof and taking pictures of damage. Crew was efficient and did a good job cleaning up afterwards.

Initial contact/estimate with the estimate person was prompt and efficient. ~1 week later I had to contact there was no contact so I called the estimate person. He said they were behind but seemed surprised that no one contacted me. He said he would figure out what was going on and get back to me. He called me back fairly quickly and said they would be there end of next week. End of next week came and went with no work or contact. To keep this short I started contacting the main office and kept getting the same same thing. Once they even emailed me saying they when they expected to arrive but never showed or contacted. Out of the 5 or 6 times they told me "end of next week" They showed only twice and never contacted me unless I initiated it first. The first time they showed they did the roofing and I had to call back about a week later to ask about the gutters, at which point I got another "end of next week" answer. Also they billed me before the work was finished. When I contacted them about it I did get a reply saying that I could ignore the bill and it was a mistake (only person besides tho estimate person that actually responded in a reasonable amount of time). The next bill they sent me had a late finance charge on it. Had to call and was told this happens sometimes but they try to catch it before going out the door.

From the first call to the completion of the roof repair this job went relatively normal according to our records: Customer first called in - 2/17 Site visit & estimate given - 2/19 Estimate accepted - 3/3 Roof repair completed - 3/17 Gutter job sent to installer - 3/17 Here is where the problem occured, our gutter installer got this job confused with another job we had assigned to him and was telling us it had been completed - so we billed it. The customer informed us that it had not in fact been completed. We got it straightened out and sent the gutter crew back to do the work but it did end up being over a month after the roof repairs had been completed by the time we figured out what happened. We sincerely apologize for this mistake and have put checks and balances in place to keep this kind of thing from happening again. Mark Rutherford, VP Atlanta Roofing Specialists, Inc. 770-633-1535

I recommend ARS. I am very happy with the quality of the roof and the interior construction job they performed in creating a new skylight tunnel from my roof down through the attic and into the living room. I asked them to construct this new skylight tunnel to match an existing tunnel in the same room. It looks like they were both built at the same time and by the same crew. I think the new roof makes my house look almost like a new house. The difference is that dramatic. And I am relieved not to be worrying about where new water stains might show up in the next heavy rain. The roofers worked hard from morning till dusk over multiple days and they were very good about cleaning up after themselves. I have found barely a dozen single nails since the job was over. And I've looked carefully since my small children play around outside. Most of the ones I found came down my downspouts from the gutters after a hard rain. The reason I chose ARS over the one other reputable company from whom I got an estimate was because of David Bishop. He is knowledgable, efficient, and an extremely good communicator over phone and email. I appreciated that I could reach him via email with many follow up questions after his initial visit and estimate. He reworked the estimate as needed multiple times and was always very patient. At the conclusion of my job, he performed the final inspection and was as thorough in doing this. ARS was very competitive on price, ultimately, but I was willing to pay more if needed to get quality and reassurance. But I got a most competitive price and expert quality by going with David Bishop and ARS. Some minor criticisms: There were some organizational miscommunications in terms of scheduling my job and coordinating the different crews that needed to come to my house. It took them longer to get to my job (over a month) than I anticipated, but we were not in an emergency situation. Once the day was set, however, the crews were there when they said they would be and I was happy with the communication provided by Sonny, the foreman. He was very accessible and returned my calls promptly. He took care of the few concerns I had rapidly and completely. I did not realize at the time, but later remembered that I was not shown the rotten decking that they pulled from the roof. I was charged $225 for plywood to replace the rotted decking, but did not get a chance to verify that this was necessary work with my own eyes. I would have liked to been shown the wood so that I knew the plywood charges were necessary. There was also a discrepancy between the linear feet calculation used to charge me for installation of new drip edge. I was overcharged initially (by 80-100 linear feet at $2 per foot), but I caught this when I remembered seeing a different linear feet measurement in an earlier estimate. At the time of my final inspection, ARS rechecked the measurement and credited me back the money that I overpaid. Overall, given the importance and expense of this project, I feel that we got our money's worth and went with an excellent company in terms of workmanship and customer service. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: This was a complete reroof of my home and work shed. ARS also built a new skylight tunnel and installed a new Velux skylight in addition to replacing an old skylight with a new window and flashing. Used GAF architectural shingles and their Timbertex product, both of which I recommend.

I want to thank this member for the excellent review, not only was it honest, he gives great advice to other members having similar projects done: 1) Verify everything with your own eyes when possible (ask to see replaced materials or pictures) and 2) Go over your final invoice carefully. We try our best to inform customers of all extras and try to document them well. But sometimes, this gets overlooked or someone makes a mistake in their math, it happens. Our sales staff usually catches billing errors when they make their final inspections but the homeowner should always double check and verify all charges. It is our goal to always make sure the job is done right, our customer is completely satisfied and of course, properly billed for any work completed. Thank you, Mark Rutherford, Owner Atlanta Roofing Specialists 770-633-1535

All staff members both in the office and out in the field were always polite and professional. Unfortunately, my job was rescheduled 3 times due to the weather and in this situation, there could have been a little better communication between the office staff and the field staff. I was told my roof would be a one day job but it took two days. I found out on the second day that my job was originally supposed to be done by a 10 person crew but I ended up with a 4 person crew, which is why it took the second day to complete. But the 4 person crew did an excellent job and I am completely satisfied with the end result. I would recommend this company to anyone looking to have their roof replaced .

Thank you so much for your review of our company! Unfortunately, this summer has been very rough on our crews, temperatures have been consistently in the 90's, which makes the job take longer than expected. We have had to re-arrange our schedule often to accommodate everyone and I sincerely apologize that your job was one of the ones affected. I'm glad to hear that you are happy with the end result and the crew did a great job, because that is our main focus! Thank you for choosing Atlanta Roofing Specialists! This was an Angie's Deal for single story home gutter and roof cleaning. For the cost, I was pleased with the service. I must admit my gutters and roof were in great need of cleaning. The service did not include removal of debris, which I didn't mind, but I was shocked how neat the cleanup that was provided. Any excess on driveway, walkway and porch was neatly blown away or moved to neatly piles. THAT ROCKED!!! THANK YOU!! My purchase was during the continuous raining spell so there was not an immediate schedule but I recevied calls almost every other day to keep me updated on scheduling, I really appreciated that. Thank You Angie's List for the deal and Thank You Atlanta Roofing Specialist for making my roof and gutters look good again.

I chose this company over others based on their top notch reviews from other subscribers. My initial inspection, quote and scheduling all went very well and I thought the quote was fair enough that I did not even get other quotes. I purchased a roof tune up special and he was even honest enough with me to tell me that he couldn't complete that particular special and that I should get a refund. However, when the team came out to do the work, they only completed 2 of the 4 items on the list and left. From the ground, I initially couldn't tell that all the work hadn't been completed, I had to climb up on the roof and inspect myself to see that the two other items hadn't been completed. I emailed in with pictures and the original inspector agreed that the other work had not been done and he would send someone back out. But I had already been upset that it appeared they were taking advantage of me. This should never happen, most people and more likely most single women, would NOT climb up on the roof to verify. The company never once apologized only agreed that I could just short pay them. An apology and some sort of indication of shock over this unprofessionalism would have gone a long way but he didn't act surprised or even say they were sorry. Rather than sit at home half a day while they came back, I have left those other items incomplete and will find another, more honest company to do business with. I really struggled with writing this review because I know that mistakes happen. But if it was a mistake, it seems I should have gotten more of an apology and more accommodation around fixing it. If you do choose to use this company, please make sure you verify that all of the work gets completed.
Description of Work: I originally purchased a roof tune up special and wanted them to investigate a couple of concerns. My initial and inspection went really well, so well, I did not even get other quotes. The quote was to fix several vent areas and a flat area on my roof. When they arrived they only fixed two of the issues and left without finishing the rest but still invoiced me for the final amount.

Unfortunately, this member is correct, there was a misunderstanding on the part of our repair crew and they overlooked 2 vent pipes they were supposed to re-roof around. (Only because they were listed separately as an option) However, her account of what transpired is not entirely accurate. The emails in her file plainly show that the first statement made by the salesperson was "I'm very sorry that this happened" and he offered to send the crew back the next day. She was the one that suggested just issuing her a credit for that portion of the work since it was "just preventive maintenance anyway" and the salesperson agreed to do just that. There is a BIG difference between being dishonest and a simple mistake. I sincerely apologize that the crew failed to complete the job, we would have been more than happy to go back to make it right if given the opportunity. I bought a Deal for $25 for $125 credit on gutter repairs. I had no trouble scheduling the estimate with Daniel. He was prompt and efficient. After I received the quote for the repairs I needed ($400 + the deal I purchased), I scheduled the work which was delayed one day due to bad weather, completely understandably. The next day they came to do the work while I was at work. They did a good job but there was some confusion and they only repaired one of the two areas quoted. I contacted the office and they straightened out the confusion. They came back quickly (I think two days later), and completed the other section. The quality of materials and work seemed good. I would use them again.

I purchased my house last year knowing that the asphalt shingle roof was 15 - 20 years old. I wasn't sure of the shape it was in so I called Atlanta Roofing Specialists to perform an inspection and provide me with an estimate on any work that was needed. The company sent out Rictor Vipond, who arrived at my house at the appointed time. Rictor was very friendly and knowledgable, and he explained everything he would be looking for during the inspection. After performing the inspection, Riktor told me the roof was in good shape considering the age, and that no repairs were needed. It was a major relief to hear and to find an honest roofer not looking to make a quick buck. I will definitely be calling Rictor and Atlanta Roofing Specialist again in a couple of years when a new roof is needed.

After waiting for the weather to cooperate, installations went very smooth. Contractor was very conservative on waiting for two days of nice weather so that an open roof damage did not occur. Old shingles came off in about an hour. Several plywood underlayment pieces needed to be replaced and the contractor was very good about pointing out and getting my confirmation that they did need replacement. The wrong skylights were originally delivered but replacements that fit were delivered with little time lost. Clean-up was very thorough especially around the driveways.

I called Atlanta Roofing Specialist on March 19 at 3pm and the were able to come out the next day at noon. The Roofer (Rictor Vipond) was running late because of another job, but called to let me know (huge check mark in my book) When he arrived he assessed the damage of the ceiling in my office and decided to check the attack. while up there he found a pipe that may be the cause, but wanted to get on the roof to double check. We both went outside and he showed me some nail beds that roofers leave up in order to walk on the roof and told me that it is what he thought would be the problem. He fixed the nails added some other sealant and came back down. Rictor returned inside to double check that the area he fixed was indeed the same area as the leak. While outside I asked him about my roof needing to be changed and he said probably in 2 years, which was a huge relief since a company (which will remain nameless) came by and told me I needed to change it due to hail damage and that my insurance would pay for it. Rictor, told me that my roof did not have enough hail damage to insure that my insurance would pay for it, so I needed to be careful when moving forward. Not knowing anything about roof repair or replacement, I am very thankful for Rictor's honesty. I would highly recommend Atlanta Roofing Specialist and especially Rictor.

Initial call went well. Estimator came right out and provided a quote. I was told they would schedule the work in 10 days and I needed to return a signed form. I returned the signed form and called back 11 or so days later. My form was "missed" in the estimators inbox. Fine, it happens. Got the work rescheduled but it would take longer as now backed up. He would call with a time. A week later I called back to find out it would be a few more weeks. A few rain days later and no follow up call from the project manager and I'm calling back. It's now 2 months from original install date. I talked to the project manager who says they will be out in 10 days. They finally make it out on a rainy day. The person actually doing the work says he should probably stop since painting the new wood in the rain wouldn't allow the paint to set (obviously) so we agree for him to come back. I never get a call back and no one ever comes. I then get a bill in the mail saying project complete and I need to pay. I call and a new appointment is made to complete the work. The crew never shows and I call the project manager directly. He promises he will be out that week. He never shows. I get another bill with a late charge. I then call and ask for the owner. The owner promises it will be done that week and the finance charge is removed. Finally the work is "complete" 4 months after initial call. I went up on a latter last week to check the work and it was not completed correctly. The gutter was to have an extension so water would not get behind the metal roof and the gutter. The extension wasn't there and on a rainy day water got behind it. Never was anyone in the company rude but they didn't respect my time and didn't execute as they said they would. I will not call again. .....update The owner followed up and personally inspected the work. He agreed it was not completed per the agreement. The next week his team was out and fixed the project. The next time it rained there were no problems. I am not happy that it took so long to get to this point but it was finally done correctly. I have revised the grade to a C.

First let me say that this job DID take too long to complete and for that I would like to apologize to this member. However, the timeline has been exaggerated somewhat. This member called our office to set up the initial appointment on November 24, the estimate was given on December 1, there were some scheduling delays on our part and the work was done on January 7, we were not able to paint the new materials at that time. Due to horrible weather conditions, we did not make it back to paint until the week of February 9. So, the total time from start to finish was a little over 2 months. While I agree that is too long to replace a small piece of gutter and fascia, it is far from 4 months. The issue now is that where we installed the gutter there is a metal roof. The gutter should be installed under the metal roof so water can't get behind it but whoever installed the metal roof did not do it correctly and an additional piece of flashing will have to installed between the two to assure the water goes where it is supposed to. Our gutter installers didn't realize this and honestly, they should have. So, I am going back myself to install this flashing to make sure everything is correct. I want to apologize to this member that we had these issues and assure you that we will make it right. Mark Rutherford, VP Atlanta Roofing Specialists 770-633-1535

Bought a coupon for a discount on some gutter work--apparently an invitation to scam for this business. The owner's son [a junior scammer to be sure] came and proposed that 17 feet of gutter would cost $525 retail and with my discount $425. This is the first time I heard there was a $500 minimum [somewhere in the fine print apparently]. When I balked at a retail price of $525 for 17 feet of gutter, the junior scammer asked what I was willing to pay. At that point, I asked him to leave. I think of Angie's List as a way to weed out disreputable people who are gouging/using the coupon thing to scam. Apparently, this group slips through the cracks. Shady and dishonest--I'd steer clear.

Atlanta Roofing Specialists has been in business for over 20 years in the Atlanta area with an excellent reputation everywhere you look. For a customer to call our company and especially my son "scammers" because he disagrees with the price he was given is highly offensive and inappropriate. First, the price he was given was $525 for 19 foot of gutter INCLUDING replacing the fascia board behind it. When you factor in that we have to send a sales person out to measure, get color samples, take pictures and write the estimate, then our gutter crew (2-men) have to go to 2 suppliers (one to pick up the gutter material another to pick up the fascia boards) and drive across town to install the materials, which takes another 2 hours, that price seems very reasonable to me. When you take off his coupon, he would have only been charged $400. When this member thought that price was too high, Daniel did ask him what he expected to pay to see if there was any room to work out a price that would be agreeable to both parties, which is exactly what a sales person should do. I don't see how any reasonable person could see that as a "scam". I sincerely apologize that we were not able to please this customer but I don't think his expectations in this matter were realistic. Great interaction with company and Representative David from the onset. Received a very fair estimate on what needed to be done. Originally, the date for repair was set for several weeks in advance due to company being booked. Three days after David came out for the estimate, I received a call from the office stating there was an opening and the repairman could come out to my house that day should I be interest. The repairman (2) were out at my house in one hour and had the job done in two. They were very courteous and cleaned up all debris. They even took and blower and blew off any small debris from my deck. I would definitely use Atlanta Roofing Specialist for any future roofing needs.

Things went well. Good follow-up and the estimator (Rictor) even called to inform me he might be 5-10 minutes late for our initial appointment, which was much appreciated. The crew called me one day to let me know they could squeeze in the work before it was actually scheduled, so things were done ahead of time and the work areas were left clean. I bought a $25 for $125 worth of services deal. I am not sure they are cheap, but they were responsive and professional. I paid about $7 per linear foot of custom made gutter guards after the Angie's List deal.
Description of Work: Inspected leak in roof. Installed gutter guards on about 60 linear foot of 5" gutters. Re-aligned a gutter to drain better.

I had put off this job too long wanting to find one reputable provider who could handle all my needed repairs - roof, gutters, and a significant amount of rotten wood that had to be replaced. After a lot of searching, I got a quote from another highly recommended provider and from Atlanta Roofing Specialists. The two quotes were close to one another in price but Kevin (one of the owners of ARS) included a ridge vent replacement of the roof turbines and also had a product for gutters to keep pine needles out which the other company did not. The roof replacement was done first It took a full day due to extra pieces of decking that had to be replaced. The crew worked hard all day long and continued to work after it started to get dark since rain was forecast for the next day. The roof wasn't totally finished but the workers left it prepared for the weather. The next morning two of them returned and finished it. I purchased architectural shingles and they make the house look significantly better. The next project was the gutter replacement. There was rotten soffit and fascia that needed to be replaced but I found out I had more bad wood than expected. The leader of the 2 person crew pointed out to me the problems they were seeing and kept me updated throughout the project. For example, there were some rotting 2x6s behind the fascia and other issues which were not visibly apparent when the original quote was made. The supervisor came out that morning to review the extent of these issues with me and how much the additional repairs would add to the original estimate. The crew worked diligently for the rest of the day replacing the wood. The next morning was an extremely cold January day. I had already told the crew leader the day before I didn't expect them to come out but they did come around noon that day to continue with the work. Due to the extent of the project they came back out on Saturday for a few hours. The following week they were not able to finish due to the weather but at that point the only part remaining was to prime the soffit that had been replaced (the fascia used was pre-primed). Additionally, I had a metal porch roof that was basically flat but I couldn't afford to replace it at this time. The workers figured out a way to improve the pitch of the roof while still ensuring the gutters alongside it would be correctly installed. I was impressed with their carpentry skills and their hard work. I feel like they went above and beyond in making the needed improvements. Finally, after the work was finished, Kevin came back out to do an inspection before accepting payrment. The bill was exactly what we had agreed upon at the beginning plus the extra amount that I had been made aware of earlier due to the additional wood replacement. Kevin was great to work with as well as the rest of the staff and he gave me an Angie's List discount too when I paid the bill. I believe ARS did a quality job for me at a fair price which is all I ask.
Description of Work: Roof - new roof with architectural shingles, ridge vent, drip edge, and several sections of bad decking replaced Gutters - new gutters with gutter screens to keep out pine needles A lot of rotten soffit & fascia had to be replaced as well which the provider handled.

I really wanted Atlanta Roofing Specialists (ARS) to install my roof. As a matter of fact, I signed the contract. However, I wrote on the contract that I needed a copy of the permit from the City of Atlanta before he went up on my roof and that I had to have the roof inspected by the City of Atlanta after the roof was installed and before he would be paid. The roofer said that the City of Atlanta sometimes takes a long time to do an inspection. So I called the permit office to see if that was the case. The permit office stated that it will usually take 3-4 business days to come out and do an inspection. Unfortunately, Atlanta Roofing Specialists, did not want to wait to get the roof inspected and so bowed out of this contract. Therefore, in my eyes, any company worth its weight in gold would be open to having their work inspected. Afterall, ARS stated in the contract that "ARS will furnish all permits, labor, materials, equipment ... necessary for, and incidental to, the proper installation of a roof..." So, ARS never installed by roof because they would not stand by their product and have their work inspected prior to payment.
Description of Work: The roofer arrived earlier and had all of the measurements before I arrived.

Response from Atlanta Roofing Specialist Inc
We usually do not require any down payment when replacing a roof. Because of that, we do expect to be paid in full upon completion of the work. Regardless of what the City of Atlanta CLAIMS, inspections are sporadic at best. We do not want to depend on the City of Atlanta inspectors to do their job before we get paid and this member was not willing to pay ANYTHING until the City inspectors came out and who knows when that would be. Atlanta Roofing Specialists has been in business over 20 years in the Atlanta market, we have the highest ratings everywhere you look and there is no reason for anyone to assume that we will not do our job properly. We have NO problem with ANYONE inspecting our work. To be quite honest, we don't really want to go into a job where there is not MUTUAL trust and that is why we "bowed out".
