They did ok. They treated it like a marketing exercise for treating the whole system. The price was reasonable. They were not focused. It was more like a marketing engagement.

Awful. This is a recurring problem. Every few months I call for "not cooling" and spend hundreds of dollars for Freon to be added. They said I had a leak. I paid for a leak search. They claimed they found it and fixed it a and added almost $400 worth of Freon (over and above the leak search). They have also claimed thermostat not working so changed motor, new control board. At least 2 visits a year since 2015. Last visit 6/3/17. $350 Freon added. Rep said he'd have service manager call me. No call and unit not cooling again
Description of Work: This company installed my unit a few years ago (recommended by Home Depot). Since installation there have been recurring problems especially with cooling. I had filters changed, spring tune up and "not cooling" issues. I do 2/year maintenance

Once again, just like the last time. They were very professional. They were very quick. They allowed me to ask questions. I followed them and was talking to them. They answered all my questions satisfactorily while they were working. I think they did the work well. We have had the unit now for four years and we have not had any problems and we have the maintenance on it so I am very happy especially because my rates have gone down too.
Description of Work: That was a down stairs installation. Full unit in the basement, internal and external unit.

We have been using them. The have done two installations for us on our air conditioner units. On every single one of the maintenance calls they always have to reschedule two or three times. Most of the time they don't call, we have to call them and go"are they gonna show up" they go "oh yea, we forgot to call you". I have called there national head quarters in Tennessee. Its just a matter of always having to reschedule. Its like you already have my money, its just a maintenance call so I'm nothing to you. Its just the maintenance. They work that they do are great. The products are good. The guys that come out are professional, I like them. They are just not punctual.

They came on time, they were getting my money. Once again just like last time they were very professional. They were very quick. They allowed me to ask questions. I followed them, I was talking to them. They answered all my satisfactorily while they were working. I think they did the work well, we have had the unit now for four years. We have not had any problems and the maintenance on it. So I am very happy and my rates have gone down too.

It went reasonably well. The salesman was punctual. Measured my second floor, checked out the old unit, recommended a Trane two phase 16 seer 3 ton unit. The installation was quick and efficiently done. However, on hot summer days when the temperature was in the upper 80s or higher, the unit could NOT cool my upstairs floor sufficiently to bring it to 75. It could cool down to about 78, but not lower. I called my salesman for help, but he did not return my calls. I had trouble getting through to their customer support personnel. Finally, I got through to the boss, who arranged for one of their technical persons to check if the installation was proper and to fine tune the equipment. Unfortunately, nothing worked. I learnt the hard way that a 16 seer 3 ton unit did not have the capacity to do the job, although my old 3 ton unit could.
Description of Work: Replace an old HVAC unit with a new unit. Recommend the right make and tonnage.

ARS screwed up a simple blower motor replacement and tried to sell me a $9000 new unit. If I don't spend an additional $100 for a second opinion I could have been ripped off for 9 grand. After all this, zero communication from ARS management. Wouldn't even take my calls. Don't let them anywhere near your HVAC stuff.
Description of Work: Diagnosed a bad blower motor. Days later showed up with the wrong part. Not even a blower motor. Had to drive across town to get the blower motor again. Had to help the service tech who didn't have a clue. He rewired the reinstallation wrong so AC was not blowing cold air. Tried to tell me my whole unit was bad. Quoted 9000 for whole new unit. Paid another company for second opinion that revealed incorrect wireing. Other company took about 20 minutes to diagnose and repair mis-wired unit. Unit works great and blows cold.

The service man was probably one of the best I've had. He was very thorough and here when he said he would be. I've had others from this company and this particular person was the best.

The best part was they responded, I think they were thorough. The worst part was that they had me waiting cause one of those like cable between eight and twelve and they ended up coming like at two so that was my entire day shot, the technician had to go outside to try to clean the filter first of all and just track mud back and forth until I pointed it out he put on shoe covers so that was the worst part of it.
Description of Work: They changed my filter, check my furnace, lit the palette.

Asked for estimate to install Home Depot sub-$500 water heater. Waited a day for estimate, then plumber told me existing gas installation was not up to code (even though it is), suggested I switch to electric water heater because vent was unnecessary. Told me I'd have to have electrician run 240 line to heater and they'd provide estimate the next morning. I had to call at 5p to ask for estimate to be emailed. Estimate listed general description of work to be done for total of $1545.00 - no itemization or breakdown, even after I asked for one. At more than $1000 to install a $500 water heater, plus electrical work, I declined.

Hired Thru Home Depot: installed the wrong HVAC, which we found out when it didn't pass inspection. Then delivered the wrong unit again, which did not match the model number of the agreed-upon replacement. I kept them from installing it and made them redeliver whereupon they installed another unit again not the same one. They insisted it was just as good but both research and performance showed it to be too weak.

I have a contract with them where they give me service a couple times a year, every 6 months. They do various things through the Winter and during the Summer. “A” for everything.

They did excellent work. They walked through it and actually I unlocked the door and they went in and they bring everything in and they actually found much better ways of doing stuff. They were efficient, with least amount of minimal damage to the property.

Horrible. Furnace was not installed properly. Had to call back many times to do adjustments on thermostat. Wrong thermostat was installed. Still is not working properly. Was supposed to have inspection and we are still waiting on the inspection to be made. They did not show up for repairs when repairs were scheduled. Worse experience I have ever had with an installer. Furnace and air conditioning system was nearly $10,000 and the service we received was horrible. Installation was in September and we are still waiting on the inspection.

Rewired my system incorrectly after repairs. Then said the whole system needed replacing. I hired someone else before shelling out 8000 dollars. They quickly identified the incorrect wireing and got me going again. These guys were like the Keystone Cops. Complete bafoons. Don't let them near your air conditioner.

Had to help him change blower motor. He rewired I it wrong going back together. Wouldn't run right. Tried to sell me a new unit for $9000. Got a second opinion exposing the incorrect wireing saving me $9000. They said they would straighten this mess out. Wrote a check for $1000 for blower motor. Never heard from them again. Hired someone else and they had it rewired correctly within 15 minutes. Unbelievable how bad their service was. Do not use.

ive had problems almost every year with them, I purchased the yearly program for them to come check it twice a year - they never did, and it would so happen that when it didn't work, the yearly program had lapsed.....they would not show up the day they said and we would take off work and stay home and wait for them all day...this happened the past 3 years, including this last summer. This past summer, it was over charged, which we paid an outrageous amount for....and it quit working again....we got someone else finally to come take care of it...and 4 weeks later, we get a call asking if we still needed them to come fix the problem.
Description of Work: they put in my new unit through home depot about 5 yrs ago, They have returned almost every year to fix something, a leak, a part, overcharged unit...which they did

This is a 2010 Rheem AC. We have had to have service on it several times. hey came out, said there was a leak and charged us $150.00 to recharge it. Said we needed a leak detection test and they would get back too us. Universal was to get back to us but they didn't. We had to call and leave messages for someone to call us. It took at least 3 times leaving messages over a four or five day period before we would hear back from them( Every time we called it is the same.) They wanted $250 to check for leaks but when my husband pushed them, reminding them how much trouble the AC has been they did it for free. Then proceeded to tell us there were no leaks and left. More call and another service person came and found the coil to be bad again and left. After several days of not hearing from Universal, we called corporate with much the same results of having to call back because now one got back to us. After a couple of calls to corporate someone from Universal called and said they would fix it for $800. When my husband said no they said they would get back to us. We have not heard back from them. With some research we found there to be a class action suit against Rheem for bad coils. Be aware. We were referred to Universal by Home Depot.
Description of Work: After two days of not showing up for the appointments, they came on the third day late, told us we had a leak, charged the system and left with a promise to get back to us.

No parts to repair unit to which they are a authorized distributor. Had to order parts. Cant get them over the week end. Monday part arrived, tech will pick up part and be at your house between 2:00 and 6:00. 3:15 PM distrust of this company sets in and I call to remind them that where ever they are going to pick up the part at probably closes at 5:00. Yes sir no problem we will be there by 6:00, 5:55 got call saying the place had closed and they will be unable to make it. This company alway gives you a window on when they will arrive. They alway, always are either at the very end of the window or flat out late. I've been lied to over and over again by these people. Today alone promised a call back three separate occasions and not one returned call. Steer clear. It's July in Atlanta GA and its hot.

My initial experiences with ARS were great. They were on time and were very professional. But, this time, there were major problems with their scheduling. I had a initially scheduled an appointment, I took time from work so I could be at home for their 4 hour window. But, the person couldn't make it. I reschedule for the following Saturday. The Friday before, I got a call asking to reschedule. Their first date was 3 weeks out. I expressed my dissatisfaction with that date, and I was told that they would be able to make the following Saturday. I got a call the next day asking about rescheduling and I assumed it was referring to the appointment that was supposed to be that day. They never said they were trying to reschedule the future Saturday. While waiting at the house on the following Saturday, I called and found out that my appointment had been pushed out one more week. I will not be buying a new year on the service agreement. I will also be finding a new company to make additional changes to my ac unit.
