The service was outstanding. the crew arrived on time and prepared to go to work. We reviewed the scope of the work before they started the installation. They answered all questions and were very helpful. The work was performed over a two day period and at the conclusion of the job the crew cleaned up any dirt and debris. When finished we reviewed the scope to determine that the work was complete. The experience of working with AquaGuard Basement Systems was excellent and I recommend them without reservation.

Aquaguard came in and drew up a plan and a quote for resolving a water issue we had in the back of the house where the concrete slab was at the back of the basement. Due to the slab being poured incorrectly and a retaining wall which was leaking, we had water coming in where the foundation and the beams met on one corner of the house. They also quoted the "Aquaguard system" which was complete basement waterproofing. We decided that the outside work would resolve our problem and that hopefully the complete basement system would not be necessary. They came out a few weeks later and did the job in one day. They had only expected the work to take a few hours. Once they got into the dirt behind the wall and saw what was going on, it ended up being a bigger job than they had planned. But they stayed all day, got it done, and did not charge a penny more that the original quote. The men who did the work, were Aquaguard employees, not contractors. They take pride in their work and it showed in the quality of the work, and their overall professionalism. We had some rain last night, and no water. More expected this weekend and we are anxious to see how it goes. Hopefully our issue is resolved. If not, I will call on them to come in and do the complete basement system without a second thought. But, I don't think its going to come to that. Even they guys there, said they were confident that what they did would do the trick.

Excellent experience, very prompt and professional.
Description of Work: I contacted AquaGuard to quote repairing a crack in my poured concrete basement wall. They were very prompt with the quote and provided full details on how the work would be done. I went ahead and had them do the work, they called in advance to confirm the appointment time, the workers arrived and completed the work as planned. I would use them again for any basement issues.

These folks were among several we asked out to look at waterproofing the basement at our house. They proposed the most effective/least disruptive means of stopping the leak (an interior waterfall on one of our basement walls) and cleaning up the damaged areas on the floor. They took a while to get out, but came as promised. They finished the work promptly and after the basement finished drying out, there are no signs that there ever was a problem. They know what they are doing.
Description of Work: Basement waterproofing ; repair to wall and removal of dampness in affected areas.(The price is a guesstimate since although I negotiated it, it was ultimately paid by the landlord (I don't remember how much exactly)

AquaGuard representative presented a thorough explanation of the work needed and a detailed cost estimate. The workers were proficient and professional, completing the job in one day. Our basement went from being extremely wet with actual pooled and/or running water in some places to being completely dry. We would definitely recommend AquaGuard and would happily call them again if ever needed.

We got quotes from one other national and one local company. We selected AquaGuard based on experience, knowledge and professionalism of staff, relative price, warranties, and wall material offered (a higher grade than offered by others). The job was a larger, longer, noisier and dustier process than we had anticipated, but Aquaguard staff were professional, pleasant, polite and hard workers. They seemed genuinely happy in their work, and we did not mind having them in and out of the house for several days. They helped with moving shelves in advance of the repairs (really above and beyond service!). They were conscientious about not tracking on carpets and tried to keep dust down (although dust was on everything under plastic in the basement, and was throughout the house, thanks to the heating system). It took 4-6 weeks to feel like the HVAC system wasn't blowing dust everywhere. Despite the plastic sheeting they hung in the basement around their work area, I don't think we'll ever get all the dust off and out of all the items in our basement. When there was a question about whether jack-hammering had caused structural problems (when some window and ceiling trim popped), work was stopped immediately, an engineer dispatched that day, and inspection allowed work to proceed the next day. Good for their word, when an initial rain showed that the system needed to go a few more feet at one end, they came quickly and made the extension with absolutely no hesitation or hassel. No problems since on dampness. Based on major rain events since work, seems that this is a permanent fix. Only small complaint about product was the plastic corners they had to use to go around reinforcing I-beams in the basement. Their product line doesn't include "inside" corners so they have to cut linear material to turn the corner. And, they were going to do the same with outside corners until we asked them if there wasn't a more finished looking edging product. They found one in their catalog, ordered and installed it (but wouldn't have if we hadn't asked). The work is in an unfinished basement so we did not spec, or expect, a high-grade finish to concrete. Still, the final surface of the concrete is far rougher than we had expected. We have applied concrete stain so it looks better. At least future homeowners can't say we tried to hide it from them! So, we were pleased with AquaGuard, not because they provided the lowest priced, quickest or prettiest product. But, despite the several surprises in the process, they were great to work with and I think we got good value for our investment. Recommendations: 1) If jack-hammering of concrete is required in interior space like a basement, consider doing it in spring or fall when HVAC can be turned off and vents can be fully covered and dust problems can be minimized. We had a fluke of very cold weather when this was being done, so that wasn't an option.2) The plastic wall panels to 8' (or above) were definitely worth the extra few dollars. While this is still an unfinished basement, the look is a great improvement (bright and clean), and has to be superior to the plastic sheeting that other companies offered.
Description of Work: Installed in-floor drain system for long-standing basement water problem (that had been "repaired" by others at least twice before). This included installation of white plastic panels on unfinished basement walls for dual aesthetic and functional purposes.

Technician was very professional. Took time to ask and answer questions - did a good job of presenting the information at just the right level, not too simplistic (i.e. patronizing) and not too detailed ( i.e. dazzle them w/ BS).Technician inspected foundation for possible settling (some nail pops, and basement door frame separating from siding.) Inspected basement framing, foundation, siding, walls, and ran a laser level across siding - determined that foundation was sound, and that the minor issues with siding were not the result of foundation problems. Found a few minor things,(small cracks in foundation walls, siding bowing out a bit) but didn't attempt to exaggerate their importance in order to get business.

I would definitely recommend this company.
Description of Work: Home inspection found signs of water intrusion, rotted wood, and mold. Seller cleaned the mold and replaced the wood but we were not sure the water intrusion problem had been fixed. AquaGuard managed to give us a next day appointment, spent 2 hours doing a full inspection of the outside and the crawl space. Even though the repair needed was not something they do, they spent the time explaining the problem, several solutions, and made other recommendations. They submitted a full written report to the realtor so we could close the next day. There was no cost for the inspections. They even found some additional rotted wood the home inspector missed. Very impressed to deal with and honest and professional company.

Aquaguard has an excellent customer service program. They mailed us a huge packet of information regarding their products and regardign the sales rep. When the sales rep came for our free estimate, he brought me my newspaper that was still in the lawn. He was not a "pushy" salesman. Aquaguard does not subcontract. They have their own crew with a foreman. That crew is devoted to you for the length of your job. Meaning they will not rush through things to get to another job scheduled for that day. The crew put tarps over everything in my basement. The foreman was very courteous. He always knocked on the basement door asked for permission before he entered the main part of the house. The goal of the work was to support the bedroom/bathroom walls so they wouldn't settle anymore and to level the kitchen floor. Well the crack in the wall actually sealed itself with the support and the kitchen floor is now level. We received an additional bonus: our bedroom floor has squeaked forever. The crew worked really hard to find the pressure point and now our floor doesn't squeak when we walk across it. I gave Aquaguard a B for price because I wished it has been a little less expensive. The B for punctuality is because on the second and last day of the job, I wasn't given a clear indication of when the crew would show up to begin putting in the posts.

Our townhouse has been sinking due to the original developer having poor quality issues back in the 1980's. Received a bunch of estimates for lifting the house and went with Aquaguard because of their "service after the sale." Thought the national warranty would be good to have. The original salesman who came out to met with me was friendly in person and then while emailing back and fourth about details about their contract, he became very offensive and got very personal with me which should have never happened. His boss called when he saw the emails and apologized on his behalf saying the guy had no legs to stand on regarding his behavior and that he would be spoken to. I agreed to continue to use them as long as I wouldn't have to deal with that original salesman. The job was finished on time, and then the foreman scheduled to come back two months later to tweak the rest of the lift to make sure it is as close to perfect as possible. No one called to make the appointment, so I called. They knew nothing of what the foreman had said to me and asked me to tell them what had to happen next. I explained the issue and scheduled the appointment over a month away. The man came today, a different man, who said he knew "nothing about this job which is weird because I always hear about every job." He said he arrived without a team of people because he was only here to take pictures of the work that was done. I called his boss who said that that was what he thought was supposed to take place today. I asked him if he spoke to the foreman who did the work. He said no. I asked why not and he had no answer. So now I've taken another day off to wait for service from this company. Hopefully they will be here with a team on Monday who can do more than take snapshots. Lack of internal communication at this place and I've been spoken to rudely by two guys now. And their price tag was $4000.00 higher than any of their competitors. They come out with flashy picture books to show you of their work and the sales guy will have a well-rehearsed routine and speech to give you. Be aware, for $10k, the job got done, barely, but with a lot of attitude and rescheduling.

They did an excellent presentation and showed me a lot of things on their computer as to how exactly my crawlspace would look. I will be having them come out this weekend to do the job. I have a crawlspace and they will be putting a heavy twenty milimeter lining underneath my whole crawlspace. It will help my building with more air conditioning out of my heating as my crawlspace is additing to my problems because it is not picking the temperature change. There are holes underneath my house and there is a braid on them but the air gets in from underneath the house. The house was built that way and I thought that it was good but it is not. It would let hot air in during the summer and cold air during the winter. It has been affecting the whole system.
Description of Work: I received an estimate from Aquaguard Basement Systems a week and a half ago to do encapsulation of my crawlspace to keep off the moisture as my house smells moldy because there is mold down there.

I would suggest being very careful about their pricing.
Description of Work: I contacted Aquaguard last year (around October 2010) for the cracks on the basement wall. When it rained heavily, moisture came out from the crack. It was not major leak since I never had water accumulated below the cracks. The sales person stopped by and gave me quote around $900. I did not do it with budget concern. Early this year (2011), I received a letter from Aquaguard saying the they will apply 15% additional discount on last year's quote. I felt that it can fit in my budget with this additional discount. I called them a couple of times and finally got the right person. I was told that they would honor this coupon. BUT they need to stop by the see my basement again. Then interesting thing happened. I received a call from the sales person. He told me that the price is higher now since one of my crack is longer than last year. I checked the crack by myself and would not see any difference from the ones last year. The house has settled down for more than 10 years. It is really hard for me to believe that the foundation would have major change within a few months. Anyway, after the price change, even with the discount, the cost is higher than the price quoted before. I decided not to go with this company. I seriously doubt the honesty and professionalism of this company although I have no experience with its quality of work. I owed Aquaguard this update. After the owner was aware of my experience described above. He personally contacted me and asked his client manager to arrange the work with the promoted discount. After we agreed, the technician came to fix the problem. Overall, I really believe that the owner of the company cherish their reputation and is willing to go all his efforts to meet customer's satisfaction. They desire A rating.

Glad we had them out--we learned what to watch out for.
Description of Work: The representative looked at our foundation and said that we do not have any cracks that are significant. He explained indicators that might represent a serious problem. He also examined some cracks on the basement walls and explained what we should do to watch for leaks. The cracks had been repaired--but he explained that we should be watchful for possible leaks in the future. We were very impressed with his professionalism.

They applied several piers along the rear of the house as well as applying fill grout into the void under the slab (which no other company thought to do in the quote phase). They were very professional from start to end. They explained the problem and process by which they would cure the problem in detail. In my particular situation they also requested I get a soils report from a certified engineer to determine if the slab was moving laterally as well as vertically. Fortunately, the report from the engineer determined no issues wtih lateral movement but it was reassuring to have this information. Again, no other firm thought to request this detailed data. This report allowed them to do less piering than would have been required in a lateral movement situation but with the report they still guaranteed their work. I feel very comfortable recommending them.
Description of Work: They repaired serious settlement issues with my foundation where the grade slopes from front to back pretty severely and the back portion of the foundation wall had literally seperated and the slab had some serious cracks and separation as well.

We have had a crack in a poured concrete foundation wall resulting in a leak in our basement. This has gone on for 22 years and we have spent thousands of dollars with various contractors to stop the leak. Aquaguard was wonderful! They couldn't do the work on their first trip out because of an air duct in the way. They had to make a second trip, but scheduled it when they had additional service in the area and didn't charge me additional fees. We have had some really hard rains since the work was completed, but not a drop of water

This company uses old fashioned sales techniques. We asked for an estimate to waterproof our basement. The representative was in our home for 3 hours. He was thorough in showing a presentation on his laptop, but we had already read the book they had sent and had familiarized ourselves with the process, which is why we called them. We had to sit through it before he would even show us numbers. When he did, nothing was broken out. We asked for him to give us an estimate on flooring and to break out the prices. He said he would have to come over again one night to give us the information. When we asked for him to email it to us, he insisted he needed to come over again in case we had any questions. We practically kicked him out of the house. We then emailed him and asked that he email the quote to us broken down by 1) sump pump and drain cost 2) dehumidifier costs 3) Brite wall costs etc. so that we could discuss it before he came back. We never heard from him again. The company has a good reputation but we would not use them at this point. This is our third house and we have received many estimates for many projects. Instead of providing us with an estimate, they gave us a "sales job" and wasted much of our time.

Response from AquaGuard Foundation Solutions
Upon reading the member's comments it was as we suspected that our sales process was not followed. The member was contacted to find out more information about the process our representative followed. It was clear that a number of shortcuts were taken which understandably would lead one to question the sales techniques. The laptop was not used in the manner that it is intended to be. We have two purposes in using the computer. The first is to educate the customer and address many of the myths surrounding waterproofing. The second part is to build a custom solution with the customer. It's during this second part that price and quantity are shown on the computer screen for each component. The intent is to not hide any pricing and be detailed in any explanation. The member has been contacted and a new proposal with the products broken out as requested has been forwarded.
