I called them on Sunday and left a message. On Monday, no one had called me back in regards to my claim. I called them three times with no response. The response time is very slow. I finally got a hold of the sales dept. By the time the plumbers got here on Monday afternoon, they were unable to get through to the claims department to authorize the work for the repair. The technician was unable to complete the job. The claims department now has said they will not authorize it because the tech mentioned something about rust, which they would not cover, even though the warranty covers garbage disposal. However, the tech said that was not true because he has not really had a chance to look at the garbage disposal. The tech has talked to me and said he would be back today and get the authorization for the repair. It is impossible to get through to them to discuss the claims. They are very non-responsive, they try to pass things on and try to get out of the work.
Description of Work: I signed up for a warranty in March. We had some pipes in our sink/garbage disposal leaking over the weekend.

In the terms and conditions is states if an item is rusted it will not be covered. We ask the customer for pictures to prove otherwise and he refused. A home warranty is to repair items in good working order before you purchase the warranty. This was deemed as a long term failure according to the tech that was sent to the property.

The first repairman came out and plugged up the hole, and it lasted about a month before leaking again and I had to call them back to repair it again for another $60 fee. The second time, the technician noticed that the drain pan was not level and that is why it was leaking again after the first repair. He leveled out the pan and it has been fine ever since. My problem with American Home Shield is that it was purchased for the home I bought by the previous owner, not me. It was good for a year and after that time I did not renew the contract. I have been receiving letters for over three years about every week or so and it is driving me nuts! Stop spamming me for your substandard service!!!

America's 1st Choice Home Warranty asked for more money to do the service. I sent them a certified letter to cancel my membership and they have not refund my money back.
Description of Work: America's 1st Choice Home Warranty did not honor my home warranty I purchased for 3 years of service. I paid $580 dollars for the first year of service and made monthly payments for the next two years was the deal agreed upon for the warranty purchased.

I tried to call, but basically on this repair we appointed a tech they came out did the diagnostic and ordered the parts for the repair. The parts were on back order through the manufacturer, she was aware of this the entire time, after a few weeks the tech called back in saying we received information from the manufacturer that the parts may no longer be available. So we offered her the amount of repairs towards replacement, 410.55, she was not happy with this she thought she deserved more money. She wanted full retail value for what her unit was purchased for. We were unable to verify age because there was no Model or Serial numbers on the unit the only information the tech could get was the part numbers. She then told us that if we were not going to buy her a whole new unit, and pay in full she wants to cancel her policy, at which point she was directed to AFC, we processed the cancellation on our side. The must not have stopped payments, she says she was still being billed in her complaint.

I've called 4 times over the past week, just to submit a service request for a plumbing issue - and keep getting the run around. The first time, they took a message and said I would receive a call back during normal business hours. The second time, I was told I would be contacted within an hour. The third time, I was given an email address to submit the request - this email address was bounced back as not in service. The last time, I was given a second email address as well as a website to submit claim information. I'm getting ready to call a fifth time - and hope I will finally get through to someone who can help me. I left another warranty company because of bad service. Now I'm wondering if it's just the industry.

It took two times for a repair person to come out and get it right. The first person was very nice, but it turned out they were let go when I called to check on the parts order. The next person was nice as well, but when they came with the parts (Which took 10 days to get ordered), they realized I didn't need 2 or the 3 parts.

We had changed from American Home Warranty to Choice in hopes of getting the same great service at a lower price. Unfortunately it seemed that Choice was more interested in collecting money than providing service. It took repeated calls from the plumber they selected to convince them that the work should be performed. During the time the plumber was working for us, the plumber indicated that he hated doing work for Choice because he had to wait 6 months to a year to get paid. We dropped the company as soon as we could.

I have had to make 2 claims this year. I am up for renewal this month. My first call was a garage door issue. They were out that afternoon or the next day. I paid my co=pay and they were on their way. Super nice person. My second claim was recently. I decided at the last minute when I took the warranty out to add my pool coverage. Am I glad I did. My motor and pump went out. They covered up to $500. My final cost was under $80. They allowed me to use the service of my choice (which is who I use to keep my pool maintained), pay for the service and send in request for reimbursement. I have recommended America's 1st Choice to friends and realtors. A very hassle free and stress free service. Easy to work with. Great to know there is a local office if I ever have an issue where I need a face to face. HIGHLY RECOMMEND AMERICA'S 1ST CHOICE!!!
Description of Work: My pool motor and pump went out - glad I added that extra coverage. They covered up to $500. My final cost was under $80. They allowed me to use the service of my choice (which is who I use to keep my pool maintained), pay for the service and send in request for reimbursement. I was told that because I HAD NOT gotten a yearly Maintenance Service done on my Air Conditioning Unit, America's 1st Choice would not send anyone out to look at it and that there would be no claim set up. I told them that I was not aware that I needed to get a yearly Maintenance Service done on my Air Conditioning Unit (it's less than 5 years old). They responded by saying that I was told when first setting up my Home Warranty contract a year ago; and that it was in my contract. They also mentioned that an email went out to all of their customers reminding them to do this Home Maintenance in the beginning of the summer. I told them that it was NOT brought to my attention when I first accepted their yearly contract. Also, that NO email was sent out to me in the beginning of this summer! Since I paid my contract amount of $495.00 in total up front AND that until this problem occurred, I had NOT EVER called them for anything, I was hopeful that they would be able to accommodate and work with me somehow. The head of the Claims Department, Karen, actually put me on hold for over a half an hour before I realized that she had no intention of speaking with me! I realize that I should've seen the fine print on the contract, but this requirement of a Home Maintenance Service is new to me. I was with American Home Shield for 9 years and they never required it. I feel that it should've been CLEARLY brought to my attention before I signed on with America's 1st Choice! I am disgusted with the customer service I experienced with the Claims Department! No workable attempt was made with me to compromise, accommodate, or resolve this problem even though I had been a model client!

I checked them out as my current one with a diff company is expiring. I never uesed it in the past 1 year and when i called the other company to renevew it took 30 min on phoen to reach a human, so i though that is bad, what when Ill need service!! And decided to change companies. So I saw this company on Angies list. I click their main home page. It says call certian number to get 20% discount. I call... The rep, iffered me a 'discount' 1435 for their gold service for 3 years. And she asked me how can she earn my business right now over the phone. i told her, I want a written quote in email, before I decide. I get an email....basically CUT/PASTE of the silver/GOLD option from their site. And hand typed '3 years $1435' I emailed her back, wanting to know the details of how much the company would pay for repairs/replacements, wanted to details.... she replied back to the links to the terms and condition on their site and when I went thought that of what is covered and what is not. Ill give you a cut/paste below from there, for you to decide. I AM STAYING AWAY BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS COVERED, EVERYTHING IS EXCLUDED. here goes an e.g.: C.) KITCHEN REFRIGERATOR NOTE: Must be located in the kitchen. (1.) *INCLUDED: All components and parts, including integral freezer unit, except: (2.) *EXCLUDED: Racks - Shelves - Lighting and handles - Freon - Ice makers, ice crushers, beverage dispensers and their respective equipment - Water lines and valve to ice maker ? There are two types of home warrantys. Ours is exclusionary because everything is covered except that is excluded. Most home warrantys are only stated components. This way nothing is covered except what is listed. We have the very best coverage in the nation and we let customers know that these are the only items excluded. If we listed covered items our terms and conditions would be over 1000 pages. I understand customers sometimes don't understand insurance policies but we are very clear on our terms.

I never received a response. They took 2 more payments automatically from my credit card. One payment received back because of my bank. The other $45. I lost with them saying my fax and letter by mail was to late. They continue to send me emails to sign up for their services. I am very leery about home warranty services. Still have not found a decent one. Oh yes I called another plumber out. I cost me $2400.oo to make the repair. It's a shame you can' t trust anymore.
Description of Work: They snaked my plumbing system with no success. They removed my toilet and snaked with no success. they poured drain cleaner with no success. They said they didn't know how to unstop it without some other epuipment which they had to get permission for. They did not get permission for this equipment and they were to come back the next day which they didn't. This no name company that was sent to me I gave them my $45. check and they were to come back. I called the company over and over with no response. I faxed a letter to the company and sent a letter by mail why I was canceling my policy with them, no response still.

Very annoying with repeated sales/renewal calls
Description of Work: This was provided by the realtor when I purchased property. I intended to renew and then would call in an issue with the furnace quiting - would have been only claim I'd made. Checked out reputation on internet and comments - decided was not worth the aggrivation adn did not renew. They have called me 2-3 times a day for the last week trying to get me to renew - finally hopefully today they finally got the message and will stop calling me. Seems very intent on 'sales'. Based on comments on internet - including BBB - not so much concern about getting peoples issues repaired. Decided I would just save my money ( approx 80 a month) and deal with repairs when they occur.

I had a contract with CHW. They were paid every month, then my heater went out and a service man checked it and made a report and I paid the service call. CHW changed the wording on the report and said there was rust in the unit, there is no rust in this unit. Then they cancelled my services.

AC went out and First American sent their contractor. We were told the compressor had gone out and that it was covered. Their contractor told us that they would bill warranty company for parts but that it would be an additional 700 dollars in non-covered charges. We got a second opinion and were told that putting a new compressor in our old system would cause a lot of stress on the unit and we would end up tearing up other parts quickly. Our A/C guy ended replacing outside unit along with compressor, for about the same price of First America's contractor, and now we don't have to worry about the rest of the unit wearing out. First America did promptly send us the check to pay for the compressor part, but covered none of the related expenses
Description of Work: 1st American A/C contractor service call and diagnosis of broken compressor. Our own A/C repair person replaced outside unit for about the same price as one part of the old 1985 unit.
