Overall, it went well. However, I did have to check the work repeatedly and have them fix oversights. They left several exposed dirt areas the first time, but came back and repaired them. Greg, the owner, was very nice and did his best to make me happy. The workers made a mess of my yard and driveway, getting concrete everywhere and dumping waste in my backyard. But, after complaining to Greg, he had them come back and clean up. My only real complaint is that they told me 7am both days and didn't show up until nearly 9am. But, the finished product looks great and the lifetime warranty is unbeatable!
Description of Work: My house is built on a slope and we have half concrete/half dirt slope in the basement. ABC came in and poured concrete over the dirt and formed tiers to allow for storage. They also sealed the existing concrete to prevent water infiltration.

I emailed this company and asked what the approximate charges were for the services they provided, it took a few days for them to respond to my email but they eventually responded with what all they do, and said the fees range from $10-$15 a square foot plus additional fees if there were walls. I later called to arrange for someone to come give me an exact quote. No one returned my first call. I called again and they scheduled someone to come to my home. Once they got here the price changed to $20,000. I knew walls were going to be extra, but $18,000 seems a little ridiculous for 2 walls. I feel like my time was wasted and I was misled on the actual pricing. For $20,000 I could have the small crawl area dug out and converted to a basement - there's no way I would pay that to have it encapsulated. Looking at the other reviews & pricing others paid I am further assured that the estimator was just seeing how much he could get me to spend...and he was half an hour late for our appointment.
Description of Work: I have a partial basement & partial crawlspace in my home. I was interested in having the crawlspace encapsulated. ($20,000)

THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY ESTIMATING OVER THE PHONE IS A BAD IDEA. ACCORDING TO THE ESTIMATOR, WE WOULD BE REQUIRED TO REMOVE SEVERAL YARDS OF DIRT BY HAND WITH 5 GAL. BUCKETS. THE WALLS WERE LARGER THAN DESCRIBED AND THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT CLEANING. HER DIMENSIONS WERE ALSO QUITE A BIT DIFFERENT THAN ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS. OFTENTIMES, WHEN A JOB IS COMPLEX, A SECOND REVIEW IS NEEDED TO DETERMINE THE COST OF A JOB. WHEN WE ARE ASKED ON THE PHONE "HOW MUCH DOES IT COST", WE HESITATE BECAUSE OFTEN HOMEOWNER MEASUREMENTS ARE INCORRECT AND IT RESULTS IN CONFUSION. REGARDLESS, I APOLOGIZE WE COULD NOT SATISFY THE HOMEOWNERS EXPECTATIONS.

They are supposed to be the only ones in the area that perform this service. The materials they used were very expensive, but the price was fair because they did good quality work. They were very responsive and they gave me an estimate right away.
Description of Work: A Better Crawl Space turned my 873 square foot crawl space into a mini basement. They did prep work, cemented the floor, insulated the walls and installed a little window.

I feel that they have done an excellent job. They charged me exactly what they said they were going to charge and nothing more. They were very responsive and very nice to deal with. I had a pleasurable experience. Everything has turned out perfectly.
Description of Work: A Better Crawlspace installed concrete in a crawl space to seal it off. They also installed concrete around the sump pump and spray foamed two walls for me.

I looked for years for a company that could do this kind of work. There simply were none in the Atlanta area. This company recently moved here from Chicago. They specialize in basement and crawlspace work. Now that my crawlspace is concreted in, I have less to worry about with termites. I was really impressed with the services I received. I especially liked the fact that this company returned my calls right away and made themselves available for any questions I had. I think the Atlanta area is rather lucky to have a wonderful business that is now local.
Description of Work: They worked in a 25 x 25 foot area crawlspace. They poured approximately eight inches of concrete in the area that lies underneath of my 3600 square foot home.

The owner showed me a comparable crawlspace that was being completed so that I could see what the finished product would look like. They began work and finished in the time they said they would. Cost was what had been quoted. The workmen were very polite and cleaned up. well after their work. I was impressed with the company's knowledge of waterproofing and the problems they might encounter.
Description of Work: ABC encapsulated the crawlspace of our forty year old home. ABC removed the old fiberglass insulation and cleaned the wood with hydrogen peroxide to remove any existing mold. The wood with sealed to prevent mold. Walls were insulated with foam board and a drain tile and sump pump was installed. The soil was graded and concrete floor was poured. Two dehumidifiers were placed in the crawlspace and two wireless hygrometers were placed in the area to monitor the humidity. The job had been completed when we had several days of intense rain in a short period of time. With the combination of the downpour, ground slope, and Georgia clay, rainwater went over the sill into the crawl space. I called ABC about the problem. They came out and installed a new drain and drainpipe in front of the door to prevent water from entering over the sill in the future -at no additional cost.

The crew was on time and did an excellent job. No mess was made, and everything was cleaned up before they left. I believe the price was fair based on the concrete used and time spent by crew.
Description of Work: Not a basement waterproofing job per se. The issue was a crawl space that had a dirt floor. No great amount of water, but certainly moisture was present at all times. My termite people had been after me for years to do something about the situation. The company, A Better Crawlspace, pumped in concrete to the crawl space. The area was about 25 feet by 25 feet. Concrete was filled to a depth of about six inches, I believe. Minor grading work was done as preparation.

OUR APOLOGIES TO THIS MEMBER. IN FACT GUEN (NOT QUIN) HAD BEEN TRYING TO CONTACT HER WITHOUT LUCK, AND UNFORTUNATELY IT GAVE HER THE WRONG OPINION OF OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE. WE VALUE EVERY CUSTOMER AND STRIVE TO EXCEED ALL EXPECTATIONS. DUE TO THE POPULARITY OF OUR PRODUCT, WE DO OCCASIONALLY EXPERIENCE DELAYS IN ESTIMATING.

The owner Greg Mitchell, seemed to understand my situation the best. Although his bid was the highest, I felt confident in his advice. His people showed up on time every day, and worked into the night. The job took an extra day, and they came back on Saturday to finish the job when I told them I had to go out of town on Monday. I have some cracks in the cement in various places, but I think this is due to the massive amount of concrete poured in (some areas are 2 to 3 feet thick of concrete).
Description of Work: They totally covered over dirt area of crawl space with concrete, added drainage pipes and moisture barriers, and installed support posts to 3 areas of floor joists -living room, hallway, and kitchen.

I WANTED TO MENTION THAT NOWHERE IS THERE GOING TO BE 2-3 FT OF CONCRETE. THERE WERE WALLS BUILT, AND IT MAY HAVE THAT APPEARANCE. SINCE THIS PROJECT WE HAVE ADDED FIBER MESH TO THE CONCRETE MIX AND HAVE VERY FEW AND SMALLER CRACKS THAT CAN AND DO OCCUR. CONCRETE WILL CRACK IN A CRAWL SPACE ONLY IN A FEW PLACES DUE TO SHRINKAGE WHEN IT DRIES. IT IS ONLY A VISUAL IMPERFECTION, AS THE RESULT IS A ROCK SOLID SEALED FLOOR, FOR THE LIFE OF THE HOME.

ABC has been performing this work in Chicago for many years and recently started operations in Atlanta. They were incredibly professional and friendly throughout the estimating and work process. Our house smelled musty throughout the warm, humid months in Atlanta due to the poor air quality in the crawlspace. This area is now a completely usable storage space with ''finished'' air. I researched solutions carefully and fully believe that this approach is far superior to the ''plastic lining'' approaches more common in the South. This is the best investment we've made in our house. Vented crawlspaces are a disaster in terms of energy efficiency and health risks (mold allergies, insects, pests) and ABC has what I believe is the best solution. The energy efficiency savings are substantial as the need to heat a house with cold air under the first floor is eliminated. ABC's website provides an excellent overview of their approach.
Description of Work: A Better Crawlspace ''finished'' my dirt crawlspace with a concrete floor and wall insulation system. In effect, we went from a vented, wet, moldy space to a space similar to a basement in terms of air quality and energy efficiency.
