I was hesitant to get a quote from this company after seeing another review for the $92,000 quote, but hoped Angi’s had vetted them well enough to be worth a shot. I was so wrong. The scheduling person asked me what I needed done, then told me right off the bay they would likely need to replace the entire deck because of their warranty. When the guy showed up (an hour late) he was arrogant right off the bat. We walked to the deck and he told me immediately my frame was rotted…. There’s no way to even see if that’s the case through the deck boards and I know it’s not because we had a complete home inspection done the week prior (I did not share that with him because I wanted to see his true colors). He made arrogant comments throughout but when we got inside he mentioned I should make the deck smaller (16x24 currently). Umm… what? The deck is large enough to service 2 exits from 2 different parts of the house and would have to cut off access if it were any smaller. He then attempted to go into some sales pitch, which was thankfully interrupted by another appointment I had lined up (remember this guy was an hour late). He seemed annoyed and said “well, you appear to be busy so I’ll just get to the numbers”. He then pulled out a worksheet, crunched numbers while attempting to tell me that Bob Villa states that the average deck cost is $200/sq ft (and that’s not a even for a covered deck) He then put his quote worksheet back in his notebook, looked at me and says “basically it’s going to be about $53,000”. I asked if that was for the deck and covering it. He said no, just the deck. I can only imagine what he would have quoted for the cover. This price is almost 3x the other quotes I have received for the total project… so to pay $53,000 for JUST the deck is asinine and ridiculous. I stood up and told him we weren’t even in the same ballpark and he made repeated comments as he walked out that “not everyone can afford us”. I hate to break it to you, but being able to afford something has nothing to do with wasting money and overpaying and an arrogant salesperson is certainly not going to convince me to do so. Don’t waste your time with this company, they truly are exorbitantly overpriced. Scheduling was also chaotic, but I could have overlooked that. I’ll be happy to use a company who deserves the work and hopefully save others the headache of wasting time with this one.
