Dirty South Services

This process started April 7th with a pathway quote request on Angis List for a flagstone walkway. Dirty South Services sent a gentleman out to provide a free quote. I received the quote and sent approval off to my HOA. Around 2 weeks later I signed off on the job and separately paid for the deposit using a stripe link sent over via text by the a young lady working for the company named Courtney. I selected a date for the work to begin but it was rescheduled twice by the company due to rain before or after the project date. Finally the company came out May 22nd to begin the project. During the first day the company laid out tarp and landscaping edging. The original estimate charged us for digging two inches down and removing dirt. We requested for no dirt to be removed from the property just put on a nearby spot in the yard. Courtney advised me that they would not need to dig for the “style” we wanted. I did not inquire further just accepted based on her explanation of not digging or removing dirt. On Day 2 ( May 23rd) Courtney and her crew arrived at 10 am with a trailer of materials. I went outside to greet them and ask a couple of questions about my gate not opening properly due to it was rubbing against the 2 inch landscaping edging they installed the day before. After we spoke, I looked at the materials they brought to complete the walkway. The company purchased 12 inch square concrete pavers instead of the flagstone that I had originally requested on the Angi project request. I raised this issue immediately with Courtney. She stopped her guys from unloading the trailer of material. She states that they were never told that this would be a flagstone walkway and my quote was for a concrete 12 inch paver. I countered by stating that my request states “flagstone” and I provided a picture of the desired job at the time when the request was sent. Courtney advised me that she would look for the flagstone but she would need a week. She confirmed they would be back out with the materials on May 28th. On the morning of May 28th Courtney texted me stating she was still looking for quotes for the flagstone but it will come with a price difference on the project. After discussing this with my husband we decided as a family to cancel this work. This appears to be a bait and switch or cash grab once clients are locked in with a contract and deposit payment. Courtney provided an updated quote on May 29th at $5700.00 (the original quote was $3600). This is amount is outside of my budget and I would not have gone through with this project if the original quote reflected this cost.
