+ 0 moreHonest! I’ve always admired a service company that has the integrity to advise when a repair job is NOT needed instead of recommending unnecessary repairs. I called American Crawlspace Solutions to assess a section of my unfinished basement to determine if water intrusion has been or would be a problem. Jeremy came out the next day and, after doing a thorough inspection, determined that I did not have a water problem. (Previously, I had called another waterproofing contractor that didn’t bother to do an on-site inspection and, through his “experience “, issued a nearly $5000.00 repair estimate — without even looking at it!!) Be careful hiring waterproofing contractors because not all are as honest as Jerermy at American Crawlspace Solutions. It goes without saying that these would be the first guys I would call if I ever needed a water proofing job.
Description of Work: My unfinished basement had a few damp places on the cinderblock walls below grade.

I thoroughly asked what would be done and the exact same thing was done for $375. This makes me wonder how much I was price gouged for the drain and sump pump.

He conducted a details review of our garage/crawlspace moisture issue both inside and outside. Afterwards, he gave an honest assessment of what was causing the problem. While he mentioned installing a sump pump as a possible solution, he thought an inexpensive DIY solution was more appropriate for the situation. Had additional professional action been needed, we definitely would have gone with ACS. Great service!

+ -1 moreWe ended up going with just the encapsulation which was priced right in our budget. Jeremy and crew came out on time and completed the job in one day! It's a dirty job but our house was left almost as clean as when they got there and the crawlspace was wrapped tightly and sealed well. Jeremy followed up a few days later to complete a couple punch list items with no questions. I can't speak highly enough about how professional, knowledgeable and friendly Jeremy is. He has even helped us out on his own time in seeking out an answer to a problem that his company doesn't even deal with and was invaluable in finding our solution! Many kudos!

He also gave great advice on shoring things up so that I do not have problems in the future. I cannot say thank you enough. It is a rare day when someone takes the time to come to your home and honestly tells you that there is not work to be done. I was worried because of a crack in the foundation and water with soil erosion around the base of our home. He came out on the very next business day after I contacted them. He determined that it was most likely due to expansion and contraction in the soil but was not due to settling and did not require any repairs. I was extremely relieved. If I ever do have problems, first phone call I will make.

He spent more than an hour here assessing and educating us as to indicators of foundation problems and remediation measures--even though ultimately no services were needed at this time! I emailed the company through their web site the night before and was surprised to receive a response early the next morning. The owner of the company, John, emailed me and we set up a time for him to come over and evaluate our concerns the day after my initial contact. He arrived at the exact time promised and I explained in detail my concerns. John listened very intently then went into the crawlspace to evaluate. It turned out that my situation was not severe enough to warrant his services at this time. Sure, he could have sold me on something I didn't need but obviously that isn't how he runs his company. I was impressed with his honesty and business ethic because there just aren't many companies out there today that will be this honest. He even made it a point to make positive comments from a competitor that did some work in my crawlspace several years ago. So even though we didn't get any work done this time I would definitely use him if needed in the future. When I find a person or company that shares the same values as me I make it a point to do business with them.

+ 0 moreIt went really well. Jeremy had no intent to sell me anything. He was purely helping me as a potential customer. He provided a lot of good advice.
Description of Work: I am buying a house that I think need waterproofing because of the negative grading. Jeremy came to inspect the house and give me an estimate. When he was there, I mentioned that the house might have foundation issue. Although Jeremy came for waterproofing, he said he could help look into foundation issue as well, but he did not have the right tools on that day. He came back three days later, with his tools to measure around the house. He came to the conclusion that the foundation was fine but might have some framing issue. He did all of this for free, and he made two trips! I told him that I would contact him after I close since I cannot cut the drywall open to do further inspection yet.

Once that was done, they did a complete encapsulation. Friendly hard working crew,great owners and excellent communication. Very satisfied and highly recommend this company!

+ -1 moreMy first telephone call was so impressive. I had been given an estimate from a pest control company and felt it was unreasonable. I had never heard of encapsulation. Took time to answer questions and scheduled estimate. Came out and gave an estimate that was almost half the cost!!! I scheduled the installation and the job was completed the day scheduled. Everything was clean. I didn't realize how bad the humidity was in my home until it was gone!! True difference! I would definitely recommend ACS!!!

+ 1 moreThey bring in a crew of hard working people and get the job done and clean up after themselves. They do exactly what they say they'll do. With the first house, the new sump pump went out after a couple of months, and they immediately replaced it. I wish all service companies were like ACS.
Description of Work: I have used ACS for two houses. The first house was a horrible dirt crawlspace in midtown Atlanta with rotten old insulation, terrible smell, mold, flooding whenever it rained. John (one of the owners) and his crew came in, removed the old insulation (as well as a lot of junk in the crawlspace), completely sealed off the crawlspace, installed french drains, a sump pump, a dehumidifier, encapsulated the entire crawlspace. Today the crawlspace has no water in it (after a big rain the sump pump immediately takes care of the water) and the air is dry and even fresh (the industrial dehumidifier they installed is amazing). The second house, which we recently purchased, has a crawlspace that was in much better shape. However it had plastic just sitting on the ground (not sealed or taped in any way) which was done by a contractor recently by the previous owner when the house was remodeled. There was a home-type dehumidifier, but the air was still damp smelling. This time Jeremy (the other owner) did this crawlspace. He took out the old plastic, encapsulated the crawlspace (they seal the new thick plastic to the piers and foundation walls), sealed off the outside air vents, installed the industrial dehumidifier used in my other house, and replaced the sump pump which was making a grinding noise. As a general comment, these guys really know what they are doing. I gave them an "A" for price because for the quality work they do, I believe their price is reasonable. This isn't to say they are inexpensive, but the nature of crawlspace repairs/solutions isn't cheap. For the first house, I got various bids and they were about in the middle. For the second house, I didn't even bother with other bids because I wanted these guys to do the job. The bottom line - if you want the crawlspace done correctly, these are your go to guys.
