Overall, I would give Howison a positive review. This is a family company and they pride themselves on giving responsive good service. They are incredibly skilled at taking down trees. I would use them again.

It is April 5th, they have never come back to finish the job. They refused to finish the job. They claimed that they never agreed to stack the wood, which is completely false. They never said that they would not stack the wood. I was told that they would not do anything else. I told them I was going to call the Visa company to withdraw some of the money. Upon hearing this, the owner screamed at me and threatened to burn my house down! The co-owner called and apologized to me and that she would make sure that the work got done. This was over a month ago, and the job has yet to be completed. I made the mistake of paying them in full, before the job was done. Now I have an enormous oak tree laying in huge wedges in my backyard with a stump that is 2 feet tall.
Description of Work: They were hired to take out a couple of trees. We discussed how they would take those trees out. We agreed to have them chip some of the wood and stack the remaining wood. We even discussed how it was to be stacked.

Curt and Beth were great. The crew was awesome. They were very professional and did a great job. They took great care to not damage any of the surrounding trees and cleaned everything up before they left. It was amazing to watch, they obviously know what they're doing. Would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We had a VERY large pine tree that had been struck by lightening and was dead. It was next to an ornamental dogwood that we were worried about being damaged.

Curt and Beth and crew did an excellent job. I got estimates from five companies and they had one of the better quotes for the amount of work. They were sensitive to surrounding plants and trees and removed the large trees without damaging a very expensive japanees maple or the fence. They were there about 4 hours, and did a good job cleaning up the site. I would recommend them.
Description of Work: Remove 1 dead willow, 2 black cherries, 1 eastern redbud. Prune 1 eastern redbud and extensively prune1 large Yoshino Cherry in the front yard.

Howison Tree Service met and well exceeded our expectations. We are delighted with the work that they performed. Curt Howison was proactive from the start, working with us as we changed our requirements when this became a joint project with our neighbor. On their first estimate visit Curt and Beth spent a good amount of time with us, listening to our requirements and explaining what equipment and work would be needed to meet them. After getting our first estimate, we discussed the tree removal with our neighbor who agreed to split the removal cost with us, and also had another large tree to be removed. On hearing about our neighbor's involvement, Curt promptly came back to write up a second estimate and quoted a lower price for the removal of the large oak tree because access to the tree would be much easier from our neighbor's lot. His quote was so competitive and we were so impressed by Howison Tree Service's professionalism and expertise, that we readily contracted the work to them. It took a couple of weeks to receive permits for the tree removals because of delays by the City of Atlanta, but Curt kept us informed of progress. The tree removal began on the Monday after the permits were received and took two days. Curt and his crew worked diligently and very efficiently on these very large trees, carefully bringing large limbs over our and our neighbors' roofs. As soon as the limbs reached the ground they were expertly sorted for firewood or for a logger to pick up and neatly piled to the side. The work was done very well and required no extra concern or effort on our part. It was a trouble free job thanks to the expertise of Howison Tree Service. We now have the peace of mind of knowing that there is no longer a huge limb running horizontally over our roof. After the tree was removed Curt showed us that the tree had root rot and could well have fallen in the near future, easily destroying a big part of our home.
Description of Work: Howison Tree Service removed one ~70' oak tree that was hazardously positioned in a narrow space between our neighbor's and our houses. This tree had one main limb which ran horizontally above our roof, merely a few feet above the shingles. They also removed an elm (~30') and a hackberry tree (~20'), and a large branch of a sycamore tree on our property.

Really great work! Beth walked the property with me and took notes. Her son Curt showed up on the day I specified, was very polite, performed all work neatly, cleanly and without mishap, and did a lot of little extras for free like remove additional pine limbs to make the tree more ''balanced-looking'' and cut down a small Spruce that had died this summer. Curt and Beth also helped me negotiate a split fee with my neighbor to remove limbs hanging over our shared driveway. They hired him too for tree work, and he went above and beyond again by cutting down a Sweet Gum tree for free ''because no one likes the way those things scratch up cars.'' Two other tree service companies had provided me quotes over the past year and both times the quotes were in excess of $1200, for a shorter list of requests. I understand from Beth that Curt is known as ''Spiderman'' and is often hired by municipalities locally when they have difficult or dangerous trees to be removed. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: The project request was to remove dead limbs & low hanging limbs on two pines trees, trim magnolia limbs, remove 3 Leyland Cypress, trim a remaining Leyland, remove one Maple sapling, and remove one Chinese Tallow tree.
