Handy Andy came to give estimate, talked a big case on how he was a former lawyer and was tired of handling cases were people were ripped off by contractors and so decided to set up shop as a completely honest contractor. Talked me into it. Was to use a special sealant paint just for sealing LP siding, so replacement wasn't necessary. We walked around house together and found all the wood rot that had to be replaced before painting. Went well at first, carpenters showed up as promised and materials arrived to complete job. Problems started on first day as carpenters did not replace entire rotted boards as promised but just cut off rot areas and put patch pieces in to replace, which looked like cheap, second rate repairs. I had them replace several pieces with full boards but painters arrived before carpenters returned and many pieces were painted before they could be replaced. Painting started OK but half way through job stopped showing up. After several calls and several weeks, painters returned, but started throwing screens into piles and stacking paint cans atop them, destroying half my screens. Handy Andy agreed to replace screens, but showed up with one wrong size/color/style screen and bent it to fit window, leaving useless aluminum mess bowed out from window. Never replaced or repaired remaining broken screens. Also, the caulking to seal the LP siding was only applied where you could see the siding, nothing was applied that was out of site until you climbed a ladder to inspect. More calls and more delay and some additional caulking was applied, but nowhere near complete. Then one day the painters packed up and left declaring the job complete, even though there were some spots left unpainted. Serveral calls to HA only resulted in demands for the last payment but I refused until the painters returned and finished, and the damaged screens were properly repaired/replaced. A few more screens showed up on the house but others remained damaged. Finally someone from the office showed up to collect the last check. i walked her around the house and showed her the unpainted area and broken screens, and she agreed someone would come out and finish, and I agreed to pay when that happened. That was five years ago and I'm still waiting. Additionally, the painters were supposed to leave any partially used paint cans behind for touch-ups but did not. however, i had gotten the stock number off the cans and when I gave up on HA and went to Sherwin Williams to get more paint so I could finish myself, I learned the paint was not any kind of specially formulated LP sealing paint, it was the cheapest contractor grade exterior paint they made. Now five years later the paint is literally falling off the siding in chips, accumulating as dust around the house because the siding wasn't properly prepped prior to painting. Additionally, I have drywall damage in my basement because one of the repairs under a door threshold was not properly weather sealed and flashed, and when in rains the water slowly accumulates in the wall space below. This went undiscovered until the damage was fairly big. I am currently having another contractor repair that. I have never made the last payment and never intend to. From beginning to end the only parts of the job done correctly were the ones I noticed were bad and called them on. Had HA not talked me into wasting my money on non-existent "super-paint" I would have put my money into replacing the LP siding with Hardiplank and would be much better off now.
Description of Work: I had wood rot in several areas and needed the entire exterior repainted. Rotted trim boards were supposed to be replaced in entirety. Total job was to be $10,000 but only two payments were made as job was never completed. I originally asked for a quote to replace LP siding, but he talked me into repainting instead with a specially formulated paint to seal LP siding.

I was very satisfied with what they did. They showed up on time and the work was done neatly and in a timely manner. They did not complain about doing the other things that we needed them to do. Their price was reasonable.
Description of Work: They caulked and painted the entire exterior of our 3000 square foot home. There were also some repairs involved.
