Top Turf Lawn Care & Pest Management

My mother had been using Top Turf for years. Slowly overtime the lawn started to deteriorate. At no time did a Tech suggest there was an issue and that they should probably stop the service they were providing until they solved the dying grass problem. They just decided to continue putting chemicals on dirt and charging us for it . Eventually, we had someone come out, and let us know the dead frass was caused by a fungus. They stated that it would be September before they could treat it which meant I would have to spend more money than I already had treating the lawn, then need to sod it when all this time and expense could have been avoided. If they are experts in the industry , you’d think they would mention there was a problem instead of continuing their service and applying their products to the dirt in our front yard. I contacted customer service or “should I say customer no service” and their apathetic and condescending attitudes made me realize I needed to discontinue their worthless services. The manager that I spoke with actually said “it’s a bummer“ that I feel the way I do and it “sucks“ to lose a customer. Seriously? Who talks that way and what is my mother been paying for for at least 20 years ?

Twice, they have sprayed herbicide on recently planted areas. They wiped out my vinca minor, and then the creeping jenny that I planted to replace the vinca. In addition, they sprayed my azaleas that bordered the area, causing shrub damage each time.

After living in our home for the last three years, we made the decision to focus on on our yard and did a complete overhaul last fall. We killed our yard, raked out all of the top layer, had topsoil applied to even out a slope, over seeded, reseeded as needed due to rain, fervently watered and cared for our new fescue and by March it looked amazing. It was costly, but we were so happy at the amount of progress achieved in such a short amount of time. In March, our landscaper recommended to start looking into companies that could assist with preemergent and weed control and unfortunately we did not do a lot of research into the best Atlanta company to use. We noticed a sign in a neighbors yard and decided to schedule a consultation with Top Turf to help educate us on the needs and best approach for our yard. They were very nice upon the initial call, set up a call back for a supervisor to come and meet with us to go through our yard to help identify troublesome areas along with educating us on how to best help our yard thrive, we are after all not well versed in yard and lawn care, hence the need for a company like Top Turf. No supervisor ever called or walked through anything with us but figured that they knew what they were doing and we trusted them to do just that. After a few weeks we started to notice weeds popping up. We called regularly as they continued to multiply. The first call we were assured that some weeds were normal due to the spring and rainy season but that they would come anytime between treatments at no cost to touch up any weeds they hadn't gotten control of. Over the course of the summer, we continued to call. We asked for the person in charge of our route to schedule an appointment with us to meet in person. We had some concerns, we wanted to understand their processes more clearly and we wanted to make sure that they understood our yard, as we had put A LOT of time, money and love into growing our yard. At no time did anyone call. We would come home and there would be a billing statement in our mailbox showing that someone had treated our yard, along with the bill. The most frustrating part of our experience with this company is that from the very first time they came, they never accurately identified our fescue grass. The employees we experienced, while I'm sure some are knowledgeable, seem to be uneducated in the knowledge of grasses, weed types and needs of lawns. We assumed that a technician would be well trained to implement a tailor fit plan for each yard they were treating and as we learned the very hard way, we were wrong. After 90% of our yard turned to an infestation of weeds of 9 different kinds, I contacted 4 other highly sought after companies that all did their own assessment of our lawn and the issues. All were consistent, all would have been manageable had they maintained a communicative relationship with their client and because of Top Turf we lost an initial 3000 investment of a yard that should have been thriving currently. After refusal of the owner to call us we went through multiple debates with Charles, Kevin Kaus and Douglas. They eventually agreed to kill our yard, seed and aerate and zero out our balance because of the issues. We are continuing to receive an overdue bill and when I reached out to Kevin Kaus his reply to me was that our yard was infested with weeds when they started service (I have pictures, it wasn't), the amount owed for the treatments performed was owed and that there is no guarantee that they can control weeds. So essentially, they say, is that nothing is guaranteed and they cannot guarantee to maintain your yard beyond infestation. J wish I was clearly made aware of this before we started using their service, as we would have found a different company. I highly recommend doing your research when choosing an established and respected company, because I now know they do exist in Atlanta. They ruined our yard, wasted our initial investment and basically told us to get over it and to submit payment or it would be sent to collections.

After a couple of months and 3 treatments... it's looking much better! (One treatment was free as a weed treatment follow-up.) If I remember correctly there is a discount for prepaying. However, I did not choose to prepay. I wanted to see how things went before doing so. This was based on comments from others not receiving full refunds for prepaid services.

Customer service is HORRIBLE. I called to cancel service and was told I would receive a refund for the balance of my pre-paid year service. What they FAIL to tell you is that there is a $10 check processing fee, along with additional hidden fees they add. So the $111 that was owed back to me ended up at $52! I never take the time to write a review but I felt this company's deceptive practices needed to share with other consumers.

Pleased with the company! I have been using the company for several years. They follow our prearranged scheduled services, send notifications when they are arriving, and they do the job well. I will continue to use TopTurf.

So far, so good. They come when they're supposed to and the weeds have taken a hike!

They have been servicing our yard since August 2016 with the completely wrong product. We started having our home serviced 8.5.16 when we moved in. We have been noticing that the yard looks absolutely horrible. Today when Top Turf showed up to "treat" our yard I asked him why it looked so bad. He said that his manager just told him this morning that they should have never agreed to treat our yard as it is caterpillar grass and they can't treat that. I asked why still all the weeds. He said that they had been treating it with Bermuda grass product and that it would not work on our yard. He said he was sorry no one ever told us. I called the manager Dave and asked for a refund for the months that we have paid as it has not been treated properly. He said NO. He said that they could come evaluate our yard to see how to treat it and that they could treat caterpillar grass. My question was why did they not do that before beginning service as it is clearly in their notes the type of grass we have. I strongly request a refund of $356.00. They took our money KNOWING that they were not treating our yard correctly. They come by eight times and year and they do different things based on the needs of my lawn. It is $39 when they come. They will be back in, probably, two more weeks. I have used them for about seven years.

If my grass goes dormant they will come out and check and see if there are any weeds or anything. They will put a pre-emergent on to keep the weeds from growing. I recommend them to anybody.

Great . They call before coming and that's a plus. Very pleased with their services.

Service was terrible. We installed sod in March and by October it was dead. We spent over $3000.00 for the sod and thought we hired an experienced lawn care company. The technicians did not know and/or understand what they were doing. One tech stated we had heat stress and continued to fertilize the lawn. Another Tech (a manager) stated we have army worms and the army worms feed off the fertilizer which killed the lawn. The last manager came and said he didn't know what the issue was and recommended we over-seed. I spoke to Dave who was indifferent and stated this wasn't their fault and they couldn't do anything. He also said we should hire another company since he couldn't keep wasting time and money on sending anyone else out. I asked for a full refund of their service and that was denied.

This company is absolute TRASH!!! Please believe me!!! I have NEVER left a review before on any website about anything but after this experience I have to let the truth be known. Every time Top Turf has performed a service they left a bill on my door (the bill is hung on the door knob) and a sign in my yard. Well, they claimed they came in August... no sign OR bill on the door. I called to ask about it and was told a manager would call me back... NO CALL!. Well today, I get a phone call asking me to pay my bill for August. I explained to the lady that I NEVER received service in August. She transferred me to a manager. He says, "Ma'am, we came back out there the next week when you said you didn't receive service". I said to him, There wasn't a bill hung on the door knob nor a sign in the yard. His response, "Well it probably flew away". HUH??? So both times my bill flew from the AROUND the door knob AND the sign flew away.... BOTH TIMES???? Mind you, for the last 6 months that I have used them this has NEVER happened but in August this conveniently happened? Really? He was not understanding and demanded I pay. Even tried to accuse me of trying to cheat them. I just want to know how do I know that you've been to my house when YOUR SERVICE TECH didn't do what the protocol is-- PLACE A BILL ON THE DOOR AND SIGN IN THE YARD! Simple... they never actually came to my house! I am not paying for a service I did not receive. He claims to be part owner of the company. I will NEVER use them again and recommend that you don't either! Let me add this... AS YOU CAN SEE THEIR ACTUAL SERVICE IS GARBAGE! MY GRASS IS DEAD!!!

I have always been happy with them. We do not have any weeds in our yard. We rarely talk to the workers, but they are always very polite.

After previous company killed the grass in my yard 10 years ago I called around and talked with several companies. Several neighbors used Top Turf so I asked them to give me an opinion what had killed the grass. The said too much pre-emergent had been put down in the early spring. I hired them and for ten years they have done a mediocre job, still had weed, bare spots, etc. but at least they weren't killing the grass and there was more grass than weeds in most of the yard. This spring they came out early and sprayed and the grass did not come up. After the yard started eroding I called and requested they give me an opinion regarding the dead grass. They responded it was winter damage. After 20 years in the house I doubted it was winter damage. I reminded them they had been hired due to the previous provider applying too much pre-emergent and they said that wasn't what killed the grass this time. They came to the house twice, sent me a bill for 100 dollars. I told them I wasn't going to pay, they turned it over for collection and I paid to just be rid of them. Total scam in my opinion. I bought a gadget for spreading chemicals and will do it myself. I did notice that the cost the chemicals and spreader was about the cost of one months service.

This company is pretty much a ripoff. I have used them about a year to treat and fertilize my yard. The results have been horrific. I have been getting treatment for pre-emgernce and the like starting August of last year(2014). However, since April/May time frame I have called them every month because of poor yard treatment and communications of services rendered. I work from home and remain in the resident nearly all day, yet sometimes the only thing I ever see them do is deliver a bill on my door. My yard as of this day has a plethora of weeds and nut grass in huge sections of the yard. I have had them revisit nearly every other week for treatment because the weeds still remain. I finally have determined they arent either doing it appropriately or using nonindustrial chemicals to treat the yard, allowing weeds to thrive. Either way I am throwing money away and have apparently been doing so for 12 months. Moreover, because I invested over $10,000 in my landscaping back in January, I wanted my yard to be a beautiful green so I called Top Turf to get a soil sample and analysis done; that we may determine what would be needed. They set up a time for the soil sample to be taken;however, no one ever knocked on my door or let me know they had been on property. Apparently, he just came out took the sample. No one communicated the process, the next steps, nor a discussion on what I am looking to accomplish. I just received a bill in the mail and a few weeks later a report that I had no idea how to decipher. Customer service indicated that it is up to me to figure out what is needed and tell them. Moreover, there bookkeeping is TERRIBLE they have 1 person that may be able to take your payment over the phone research billing information and if they are out of the office. Tough luck. I would not recommend them to anyone who cares about quality service, value their money, time and looking for good treatment.

Our problems were not with the lawn techs who treated the lawn. The treatments and condition of our lawn was just OK, not spectacular. The problems we had were with the office personnel and the company's poor, unacceptable bookkeeping practice. Treatment visits were not made on specific dates, so we never knew when they would come by, unless they left a small flag on the lawn, which was not done on every visit. The techs would stick an invoice on the front door. We never use our front door, so it would usually be there several days before being discovered. An invoice was never sent by mail immediately following visits. The invoices stated that it must be paid within 30 days. We always paid well within that period - even though the invoice on the door had been discovered late. We pay electronically, so we know that payments were being received in adequate time by Top Turf. The problem with their unprofessional bookkeeping is that their practice is to send out statements every 20 days. Their 20 day schedule is their established date for all accounts - not 20 days from dates of a customer's service. On their "every 20 day statements" they would include a $1.00 late fee, not allowing for a payment to be received within the stated 30-day period. Yes, it was only $1.00, but the practice is incorrect and very unethical. When I spoke to the office personnel, I was told "that's the way we do it", was refused a correction on our account and was not offered an apology for the erroneous late charge. When I spoke to an alleged manager, Mike, he was very cold and unwavering. When I asked him to cease service and close our account, he was totally indifferent that they were losing a long-time customer and was very quick to close our conversation. Not surprisingly, we received a form letter about a month later wanting to know why we had closed our account. Seriously?

I have used Top Turf for a number of years now. When the other companies could not control the stubborn weed in my lawn, Top Turf got the job done. They would come out and re-treat until all of the problems were solved. They know what they are doing and are very responsive.

We had weeds all summer and grass was not as green as neighbors. More importantly I am told I received a tratment in January 2015 for which I am being turned over to a collection agency. My annual agreement was never renewed. There are so many good choices other than Top Turf. Save yourself a headache and avoid. Representatives are harsh on the phone.

After two or three years of service, I had it stopped. At some point the weeds were suppose to go away, however I notice my back yard and side never got better. The front looked okay, but not for 79.99 per treatment. When you are paying, your lawn should stand out above the rest. Even the neighbors who never paid for any lawn service grass was just as good as mine....weeds and all. Please don't waste your money and time with this company. They are not spraying anything that will kill weeds to make your lawn look greener of just healthier/ better.

It was awful. One time, they put a sign in my yard and left no paper work. Another time, the left paper work but forgot the caution sign.

Top Turf performed fine for the first six months. However, this month we added the weed spray service and were very unhappy with the company. I wanted to be home to point out some newer plants and ensure they were not sprayed. After leaving 3 messages and speaking with various customer service people, I never received a call back. Today I called for the fourth time and finally spoke with the General Manager (who didn't even identify himself until I asked). He was dismissive, rude, and brash. When I mentioned that we may need to end our service he was quite content to lose us as customers.

lost almost all of my grass and had to put down sod. A nice gentleman (Ron Cissel) came out an put down starter fertilizer (because the grass is in such bad shape) and I asked for a soil analysis but that is not what they do. the company has since called me several times to put down weed killer ( on my new grass and weak older grass would be fatal) Up to this point, the men who treated the lawn reported all was well; but the truth was far fetched. I called today and asked to speak with the owner of record, Kevin Bryan, but was refused access to him. According to manager mike hanson, the problem was everything but his service: thin grass due to tree line shade, winter damage, and having centipede grass mixed in with Bermuda.

They are very professional lawn care service providers. I had the big name lawn care providers before and they would not do the work efficiently and would increase the price every now and then. Since I have switched to Top Turf I haven't got any problems and the grass is growing pretty evenly also.

We bought a foreclosure whose "lawn" had gone completely to weed. After spending over a year doing our own chemicals, liming, fertilizing, weeding, etc we admitted defeat with the products available to consumers at the big box store. Top Turf started in February of this year for $48 per treatment. We saw no weed die off at all. They asked us to withhold judgment until they did the following treatment a month later. They were correct to make us wait. It took about two months but we now have a mostly weed free yard that looks 100% better than before. I'd love to say it looks golf cart amazing, but it doesn't. We're giving them one full year to service our yard before we decide whether to keep with them for the long haul. We feel $48 is about $10 too high for the small yard we have, so that will affect our long-term decision as well.
