Excellent everything went great. He arrived on time and completed everything very quickly.

Mike McShane was great! He came in and diagnosed our problem (a severe water leak in our basement bathroom). He outlined what needed to be done to fix the water damage and to renovate the bathroom. He even met with our home insurance adjustor and showed them what needed to be done. It was the easiest home insurance claim I have ever had! Mike then got all the materials and let me pick out anything that was unique (like tile). He was always on time and always on budget. He followed up continously to make sure we were happy with the work. Almost every night he showed me what he had done (damage repair and re-building) to make sure I was good with it. He always ensured that understood what needed to be done, why and how much it would cost. Whenever I have another home improvement job, I will definitely call McShane Home Improvement. I highly recommend!!!

Mike was nothing but professional and one of lower bids of the 5 I received. He listened to me and then discussed options with me. He was willing to work with me on various factors such as I wanted to buy the fixtures and tile myself. I was pricing removing my tub/shower combination to put in a larger shower only. In the end, I couldn't afford it at the time. However, I will hire him when I am ready to have the work done with no hesitations. I have two dogs and he was good with them as well.

Mike is very professional. He worked non-stop and did a beautiful job installing mirrored glass sliding doors, replacing french doors on two closets. He finished within the 3 hour estimated time frame. He left the room very clean, too. We were left with no clean-up at all. We love the new doors. This has been one of the most pleasant experiences with any contractor we have ever hired. We highly recommend Mike McShane.

Mike arrived exactly on time and walked through the house with me while I showed him each of the jobs. He then brought his tools inside and began to work. He paid great attention to detail, touching up very small areas with paint so they were not visible. He cleaned up each area after finishing that part of the job. He carried on a pleasant conversation, but it in no way slowed down his work. I would highly recommend Mike - he is skilled in many different areas and does very neat work.

Everything went well. This is my second time having to complete this survey.

We wanted to convert our bathroom next to the master bedroom to a shower because my wife was having back surgery and faced a long period of recovery. Mike McShane was selected after I received 4 estimates. He impressed me because he said that when he finished the job it would be complete including painting, and installing the shower door. Other contractors only did a partial job leaving me to do the painting or to hire a contractor to mount the shower door. The job included demolition of the tub and existing tile floor and doing electrical, tile work, plumbing, painting and installing fixtures, grab bars, and cabinets. He is a nice person to work with, very pleasant and professional. He vacuum-cleaned the work area and the area in the master bedroom next to the project every work day. Mike?s workmanship is solid and the new bathroom tile floor and shower tile floor are rock-solid and waterproof. Mike is a craftsman and designed recessed shelves in the shower that are an attractive design element. He also built a bench seat so my wife could sit and shower herself. The tile work is beautiful and the finished project is a definite asset to our home. I recommend him highly for this kind of project. (As is the industry standard practice the cost does not include fixtures which are provided by the homeowner).

Mike did a great job. He explained very clearly how he worked and what I would need to do - when to buy tile, how much, things to consider, what to avoid, etc. I knew exactly what the payment schedule would be, when the work would start and how much time he expected it to take. Once we got started, he cleaned up every night, closed the bathroom door and stored everything neatly inside. He even swept leaves off my driveway. If you didn't open the bathroom door, you wouldn't have known a remodel was taking place. The work was meticulous, which was especially important to me with all the tile work. He didn't cut any corners and made sure it was done right.

This was a follow-up to an earlier visit from Phase I project. Mike returned to complete a previous project and to take care of a new one. He waited patiently until I had other projects completed and kept his word and returned as promised. He makes great suggestions and let you make the final decision. He is very honest, thorough and professional at all times, he will explain steps as he goes. Mike cleans up behind himself very well. His attitude is very pleasant and he has a great sense of humor. I had a "friend" lined up to do the needed work, which had to be done before a new roof was to be installed. The work consisted of demolishing the existing exterior fireplace surround, securing to foundation, re-framing and rebuilding the surround with Hardie Plank. My "friend" called at the last minute and backed out leaving me in a jam. Mr. McShane met with myself and the residents the night I called and explained the situation to him. He told me he could get the job done within the required time frame. We agreed on a price and the specifics of the job. Mr. McShane showed up early the next day, just like he said he would. He worked all day Wednesday and Thursday and had everything in place for the roofers on Friday. He did excellent quality work and was extremely professional and friendly. He did what he said he would do. He made himself convenient to access. I found him to be a man of integrity, which is a rare quality in people these days. He offered advice on other projects that we might consider. We will definitely use him again.

Everything went great. This was our second bathroom remodel by McShane Home Improvement this year, will definitely use for a third next year. Do call McShane.

Mr. McShane completely gutted our old-school bathroom, which tiled with icky old 1 inch tile. This old tile made it impossible to clean. Our tub had lost every trace of its enamel, and everything about our bathroom was JUST PLAIN UGLY!Come to find out, there was a four inch layer of concrete below the tile in the floor and the walls. Mr. McShane patiently chipped away at the old tile and concrete, careful not to disturb the structure of our home. He then started over from scratch, removing the bathtub, toilet, sink--everything!Mr. McShane communicated with us every step of the way, discussing design options for the shower, possible materials, etc. He had good ideas for the shower design--built in shelves for shampoo, made beautiful by a decorative tile backsplash. He came up with a beautiful design for the large, rectangular bamboo-look tile we chose. He also came up with a beautiful design for the wood-look porcelain tile we chose. He installed vinyl beadboard and crown molding, giving our bathroom the beautiful, finished look it had been crying out for all along. (Ask him to show you the before and after pictures!)Oh, and Mr. McShane CLEANS everything carefully every day, vacuuming away the dust multiple times as he goes along. He also built in adjustable shelves in our bathroom wall--very cool!So, in the end, our bathroom was more beautiful than I could have dreamed. Well done, Mr. McShane!

I contacted Mike and spoke with him directly. He came out the same day, provided an estimate and we moved forward from there. Mike gave me his honest professional opinion. We looked at our project in a more realistic way and realized we needed to make some decisions. I contacted Mike with questions, thoughts and/or ideas. He always answered or called back in a timely manner. He recommend things you would never imagine. His honesty was greatly appreciated throughout Phase I of our project. We trust Mike and value his opinion. We're now moving into Phase II. My husband and I are very satisfied with Mike's work. He also have a good sense of humor, he's a down to earth kind of guy. We're looking forward to working with him for a long time!

I ran across the McShane Home Improvement ad on Angies List in early January. I phoned the company annd left a voice message. Mike McShane returned my call a few hours later and I explained to him that I needed to have some shutters re-installed, or possibly replaced and installed if needed. I told him that it was a very small job, but was difficult for me to do myself since I didn't have the proper tools and know-how to reinforce the shutters on a brick front. Mike was very pleasant and professional during the conversation, and assured me that he had no problem doing small jobs and that he could handle this job within 1 - 2hrs. We agreed on a date/time (at my convenience) for him to come out and do the work. On the work date, Mike called me beforehand to confirm that we were still on schedule and notified me that he was on his way prior to arrival. He arrived promptly and greeted me with a warm smile and professional handsake. He immediately assessed the job (informing me that the shutters were salvagable...didn't need new ones), and explained what he was going to do to install the shutters and ensure that they stayed in place. After the assessment, he immediately began working and was done well before the two hour max estimate which we had previously discussed.. After the shutter installation was done, Mike cleaned up the shutters along with the work area/space, and we inspected the work together to ensure that all aspects met my approval..... I approved whole heartedly. Mike's work met all my expectations and if I need additional handly work done, I would definitely hire Mike again in the future.

McShane Home Improvement went out of their way to make this a painless experience for us. Mike listened to our concerns always answered any questions we had and kept us constantly updated on progress. At the end of every work day the construction area was cleaned and organized. Several times we said that something could be fixed the easiest way but that "is not the McShane way", he does things the right way and the best way with great attention to the smallest details. This project was finished on time with no suprises. We are very happy with the results and will definately call on McShane Home Improvement for our next project.

Please see the description above. The entire project took 6 weeks. Because Mike works alone as a skilled craftsman, he does not give you the "assembly line" feel that some of the other larger firms do. However, you should know that he will give you an estimate of materials and you will have to give him money up front. He provides all receipts and any money that is left over he will apply to his labor costs. He does not ask for labor money upfront but does operate on a "pay as you go" model for the work he has performed that week. While I like the contractors that say we don't get paid anything until we are finished, I know people who have been unsatisfied with work and not paid only to find a lien was placed on their house by the contractor. Paying as you go with Mike is not a problem since he only works your job (and at the most one other) at a time. I just recommend on getting a price agreed up front and making sure you agree up front on the price and scope.

McShane Home Improvement was highly recommended by close friends who recently completed a remodeling of their master bath. We were so impressed with his work that we called him when our bathroom needed work. We met with Mike explaining that we had a leak in our upstairs shower and needed to have it fixed. He examined the shower floor and determined that the shower pan needed to be replaced immediately and we could not use the shower without causing further damage. At that point we decided to move forward with a complete rebuild of the water closet. He provided an itemized list of what needed to be done and detailed estimated cost for the complete project. He provided a no pressure estimate saying he looked forward to hearing from us. We had other companies provide estimates but we were most impressed and comfortable with Mike McShane. His relaxed, pleasant demeanor coupled with his craftsmanship was the determining factor in our choice. When the job starred, Mike was there every day, working at a nonstop pace into the evening. He was mindful of our schedule and was flexible as we made adjustments to the design as the project progressed. One of the best things about him was his creative design ability. When we weren’t sure what we wanted, Mike would have ideas and suggestions that always worked. He is a true professional, who always maintained a safe working area. He cleaned up each night, leaving no equipment lying around. The project came in on budget and within the time frame quoted by Mike. When the project was completed we were in awe of what a great job he did and how wonderful our new water closet looked. We are already in discussions on the next phase of our master bath remodel.

Mike helped design a luxury bathroom as well as a smaller bathroom. Beautiful tile job with excellent creative design ability. He managed to solve a number of problems with this in an older house. He also installed two rain barrels which took a lot of ingenuity to make work in the large lot I have. He also designed display cabinets in living room area and build two pedestals for another area making sure the finish matched my furniture. At present he is working on a base for a medal table to work with existing furniture. Big or small, he has great experience that he bring to each task. He is resourceful in finding materials that work in difficult situations with good prices. Would use him any time doing a lot of different jobs. Just ask- he probably has had that experience and can do it.

Mike McShane of McShane Home Improvements, has done the above work for us over the past several years, as we were ready to do it. His workmanship is always excellent and he is very talented when design is important and he offers creative ideas that work when needed. Equally important, he is completely trustworthy and can be left alone without worry. For us, away at work, that was always a big concern until we found Mike. We can only give him the very best recommendation.
