BFS Marble and Granite was the counter top sub-contractor for the complete update of our kitchen. The initial contact with BFS was for the development of the counter top template. The tech was three hours late and did not have the correct tools to complete the template and had to come back a second time. During the initial installation, one of the counter tops came in with the wrong sink cut-out. A conversation and finger pointing took place between BFS and the General contractor, but ultimately the general contractor had to purchase a top from a different stone fabricator. The real issue was with the Quartz pieces associated with the island. When originally installed the two pieces did not line up. The techs worked hard to correct the problem, but in doing so, the long edge of the counter top became bowed. BFS said they could easily correct the edge problem and approximately two weeks after the installation the owner came out to do the work. We were hesitant to have him re grind the edge at first, but he said if we were not satisfied, he would replace the two quartz pieces comprising the island. In the attempt to correct the edge, BFS had to go out and purchase a vacuum and covering. BFS leveled the edge as best they could. However, when you look at it at eye level it can be compared to a well-used railroad track. It is not as straight as the other edges on the other pieces, you can tell there was a repair done. In the process of grinding, BFS was not able to cover the area correctly and quartz dust settled through out our entire downstairs of our home. In all fairness the owner, Tim Dowling, tried to clean up the quartz dust on the floor with paper towels, but the dust had settled everywhere; it was a mess and required a very costly deep cleaning. My wife and I are not happy with the final results of “the fix” and our general contractor is trying to negotiate with BFS (Tim) to have the counter top replaced. This has not been a good experience for us.

Tim Dowling (the owner) came to my house himself to do the measurement for the countertop. We had discussed a certain amount of square feet, but he said that could change depending on the actual measurement since I had gone to his place of business without measurements. When he finished measuring he told me I had a lesser amount of feet and that would be reflected on the final payment after installation . He is a very honest man, he did not have to tell me that my counter top was smaller than estimated. He is personable, knowledgable and a man of his word. I needed the job done asap because I wanted to be able to put my house on the market by a certain time. He told me he would get it done as fast as he could but it could take from 7 to 10 days . He got it done in 5 days !!!!! from the day he came to measure. That was incredible and it looks beautiful ! He also gave me a great price. I would definitely recommend BFS Marble and Granite.

I found them on craigslist where they advertised a cheaper price per sq foot than the company I was intending to go with for installing granite countertop in the kitchen of my rental. I cancelled my order with the company and went with bfs. That company fully refunded my cancellation fees since I had not done templating yet. When I went to bfs granite - I was in for a surprise. With added extra fees - the price came out to be exactly the same as the previous company. I felt it was a bait and switch but then again thought it was my bad for not enquiring full price before meeting them. So I paid them by check the full amount for the order because they said they would give me a discount if I did so. That should have set off an alarm since they clearly were trying to cheat on taxes - and hence not ethical. However I assumedthey probably were like the mom n pop shops that give you discount if you pay by cash. It so happened that the budget I had set aside got exhausted and I decided to forego granite installation. When I asked them for my money back - their initial reaction was - sorry all sales are non refundable. When I pointed out that twmplating was not done , they said they were going to charge 200 $ restocking fee. Feeling like I had a good chance of losing my money , I called my bank who was fortunately able to cancel the check since it had cleared just the day before. And now bfs showed its true colors to me. The guy argued with me for a good half hour on why I should pay them 200 $ and then the owner or some guy claiming to be the owner called me to let me know he would be suing me for 200 $ and that id hear from him soon enough. They figured being a woman they could scare me with a lawsuit and make me give up 200 to avoid trouble. Am yet to hear from them and doubt I will. They were trying to make a fast buck. I shudder to think about the quality of their workmanship and wonder if they would even have done the work ??? So please dont ever use them. They are crooks.
