 + 1 moreI have used them a couple of times. The paint itself looked very nice, but there was some sloppiness associated with the job. Some of that was repaired. But for instance, they spray painted my house. I did not know they were going to be spraying. I don't have much wood on my house; it is mainly brick. They spray painted the faucets and gutters and they also repaired the gutters and faucets. They took off all the storm windows which I was happy about, but then all of them got really dirty, because it rained, and they had left them out in the yard. They cleaned the double hung windows which were part of the architect of the house, but when they attached the storm, they were dirty, so I had to come later, and hose up all the windows and screens from outside. They left a lot of paint trash, scrapings around the perimeter of the house, where they had scraped paint off, one of my bushes was totally killed. We have a big drive way and parts of the driveway, where they used the Clorox, were bleached out. They did have a man who came back and reattached a lot of the storm windows and replace most of the vents, and a lot of them were sprayed. That man came out and spent about 4 hours trying to repair the problems that the painters made. When another company made the estimate, he insisted on going outside the house himself, when they finished painting, none of the porch floors were painted. I personally was not handling the project, and it was my husband's project. When I looked at the estimate, we hadn't include the porch, and so I didn't have any argument. The faucets look good, the gutters look really good, and the paint itself looks very nice, but that was a lot of money to pay for that house. It is a 200sq ft house. The 3 painters were very nice. They were always there when my husband asked them to be.

I would use them again in a heartbeat without even thinking. John will come to your home and give you a quote by email. He has great people on his crews and they understand customer service. They will take care of your household items and they always clean up after themselves each day, even if they're returning. We painted the following areas entry/foyer; living room; family room; kitchen; garage entry; 5th bedroom; stairwell; upstairs hall; master bedroom & master bath. Trim work included balusters, kitchen pantry doors, master bath vanity and all master bedroom doors. They did an outstanding job!
Description of Work: We had all but a few rooms painted in a 3200+ sq. ft. home. Complete color changes, sometimes a lighter color over a darker one...you can't tell. We had some brown trim return to the original white and some doors & cabinets painted black & espresso. I had them paint the balusters in the house black (from white)...it looks awesome. There isn't one spot they painted where I was unsatisfied.

He had his crew come back each time without question and made sure the job was complete. I'm a happy customer, very pleased with their work, and I'm looking to have them paint more for me. I won't hesitate to use them again.

Pam came 2 days later to do a color consultation. A bonus I was not expecting! Easy payments process over the web. After a deposit, work was scheduled with 5 days. Painters arrived on time, setup a quickly, and worked well into the evening (my choice) to complete the job in ONE day. Work was high quality and done in an amazingly short time. Crew came back the following evening after I called with a punch list. Just some cleanup items, and my doors required a third coat (not the issue with the work or materials - just the condition of my doors) All the work was completed in less than 48 hours! Highly Recommended!!

April offers a very convenient on line process where you see the detail of your work plan, agree to it, and make payments all on line. All certificates are presented (insurance, etc) prior to work beginning.
Description of Work: Second time customer of April Painting and once again very happy with the quality and attention to detail from John and his team. They did a significant amount of carpentry work for me replacing rotten trim work as well as painting the house, stained a deck and arbor all which came out great. The thing we like the most about April is their 5 year warranty which John sticks to and is very responsive if you have any issues with paint or additional woodwork. Not sure about his price vs. others but definitely worth the money..

 + 3 moreWe were pleased with the service and will use these painters again. We were provided a free color consultation and were skeptical that we needed one. However, we were really pleased with this service. Pam very quickly showed us colors that she thought might work for us, and I was impressed by her skills and sensibilities. We are very happy with the color scheme she helped us select. Overall, a large painting job is frustrating (inherent to the situation) and there were some problems that came up. However, John did a good job of communicating with us quickly and with resolving things to our satisfaction. The exterior and interior painting and repairs significantly improved our home.
Description of Work: April Painting painted the exterior of our house and also three interior rooms. They did some additional trim repairs to replace rotten wood on window sills and on our front porch. Typical issues associated with this type of project arose and were dealt with professionally and to our satisfaction.

 + 2 moreJohn had given us the estimate several months prior to the actual start date. We had set a tentative start date and when I called him to confirm, he was ready to start the following day. The crew arrived on time to power wash the entire house. They removed the screens and moved all outdoor furniture out of the way. They completed all of the prep work on the first day, and took a sample of the original color to match the new paint to the old color. They arrived on time the following day to begin the work. The crew worked well as a team - each man knew his part of the job and the work went smoothly. They did a great job cleaning up, even helping us wash windows before putting the screens back on the windows. They were all courteous, friendly and very helpful. Before leaving, they had us inspect everything, and they corrected all problems. We were amazed that they were able to do so much work in one day. We have used April Painting in the past and this experience was as good as the last one.
Description of Work: April Painting painted all of the exterior trim on our 1 1/2 story house. The house has 40 windows, so there was a lot of detail work.

 + 0 moreThe cabinets that were made and installed were excellent. The quality of the workmanship and construction were high-grade, and the installation so well done that they looked like they had been there forever. The painting work we had done was good. There seemed to be a few misunderstandings between the foreman and the head office on what was in our work order, but John - the owner - cleared those things up quickly. I was disappointed in some of the workers who painted. It was obvious that the foreman, Freddy, was working two jobs at once, since he would disappear for several hours at a time with one worker, and then come back with different colored paint stains on his clothes than the colors we were using. This wouldn't have been a problem if the workers he left behind had a strong work ethic. I had to call the foreman a couple of times to tell him that his workers were sitting around, making personal calls and texting their friends instead of doing the work they were supposed to do. Also, two of the three mornings they worked at our house the crew showed up late (like 2-3 hours late) without a call or explanation. This was frustrating as I had explicitly asked every time, "what time will you be here in the morning?" As a result, the job took longer than originally estimated. So, I would recommend April Painting for the work they do, but make sure you get a good crew or you will be frustrated!
Description of Work: April Painting, along with some of their subcontractors, built cabinets & shelves around our fireplace and painted the ceiling, walls & trim in our hall, living room & dining room.

Description of Work: We contracted with April Painting for interior painting. John G. was very professional and a wealth of experience. The paint selection process was a breeze with the no cost consultation with decorator. Once the paint was selected the project was underway. Everyone (Karen, crew manager and 2 painters) arrived and we did a complete walk through first to reconfirm the project parameters. The painters were excellent and very careful and every detail.

 + 4 moreWorking with John, Pam, Freddie, and the crew was a pleasant experience all around. They were professional, helpful, and polite. Freddie and his crew painted my house as if it was their own. I am very pleased with the quality of their work and their price was 2/3 that of the other 2 estimates that I received (with with same paint). I have some interior painting and carpentry work that needs to be done in the future and I'll definitely use April Painting Company.
Description of Work: Exterior painting including siding, trim, shutters, doors, dormers, porch ceiling. Also replaced some rotted trim (minor repair), power washed, scraped, primed, caulked, and re-sealed a gutter seam.

 + -1 moreWe hired April Painting to most of the interior of our home. The job was supposed to take 8-10 days. We added a couple of new tasks once they got started. The new tasks through the timing off and April pulled the guys from our job to go to another job. Three days later, they sent the crew back to finish. This was a terrible inconvenience because all of the furnishings in each room were moved to the center of each room and covered for protection. All of the wall hangings and wall plates were also off of the walls. April should have told us when we asked for the additional services that they could not perform them within the allotted time and that they would be pulling the guys off the job to start a different customer?s work before coming back and finishing the job. That inconvenience stated, we couldn?t be happier with the work performed by April and its crew. They were very professional. The work is grade A. They were punctual, although several days, the crew left midday instead of working all day. They cleaned up at the end of each day and tried their best to make the home inhabitable while they were away. We will definitely use April again, and already have another task scheduled with them. I am certain the timing issue was a fluke problem and will not happen again. John April is a consummate owner. He cared when we told him about the problems with the crew leaving. He listened to all complaints during the final walk-through and fixed each and every problem. This is not to intimate that there were lots of problems, but with painting, small things can go unseen until the job is complete. He made sure he fixed everything we talked about.

 + 0 moreDespite problem with Behr Paint (we requested this paint) , April Painting made everything great!
Description of Work: I received quotes from 4 painting contractors (3 from Angies LIst) to repaint the interior of our new home. From beginning to end John was very upfront and professional. April Painting was the most competitive on price, but as I've learned from exp. don't always based decisions on price. Since John was consistent, punctual, reasonable & agreeable to our painting requests during bid process I chose April Painting. There were some areas I wanted fixed (drywall imperfections)and he said it was very unlikely to remedy old faulty drywall installation but his crew would try. We also wanted an open doorway closed off with framing and drywall. I also requested Behr brand paint vs. Sherwin Williams b/c it's rated much better by Consumer Reports. Hey if I'm spending $7K I want the best ...right? Marisal and Eber's crew began and just about a week later the job was finished. They were even able to fix the drywall imperfections and they are invisiable. Nice work. The crew was careful and respectful to our new home and they still protected the floors even though we were going to refinish them. They were also very friendly. We ran into a couple problems using BEHR paint and John was there to stand up for us. First, Behr paint (Home Depot) did not have some paint in stock and said they could transfer some over from another store the next day. Well HD/Behr let it slip through the cracks and never transferred the paint so John stepped up and found the Behr rep to supply the paint needed to finish the job. Secondly, the Behr Paint representative mixed the wrong shade of paint and we didn't noticed it until a few days after the paint job was done. Home Depot & Behr paint would not own up to it even though we proved the shade difference with the leftover paint, John again stepped up to the plate for his customer and came back to repaint with the correct shade. I'm so disgusted with how HD/Behr handled the problem that I will always consider other options before having to deal with them. Even though remodeling a new home is a pain at times you also learn that there are still good people/businesses out there. Thanks again April Painting.

 + -1 moreemailed john for quote. Compared it a couple of others. Like his contaced him back and set up a date for the job to be done. He came out and completed the job. He was very professional and did a wonderful job. Woiuld recommend him to anyone for any job that needs to be done. I would use him again. He called me to advise was going to be there later that state as he wanted it to warm up some before he got there as it was colder than he expected. He came out and matched the paint color to the house trim and then wernt and got the correct color. He put two coats of paint on to make sure ti would be sealed well and it looks great.
Description of Work: Contacted John to paint my Grarage Door. Garage door had to be replaced due to an accident. New door needed to be painted. Door had to be painted to match the house to due dubdivision requirements.

 + -1 moreI contracted 3 bedrooms, a hallway and a stairwell to be painted, all upstairs. Two of my rooms still had the builders-grade paint on the walls. One bedroom had a glaze treatment on all four walls. The initial quote included a separate primer to cover that plus primer for the darker accent-color walls in each room. The other 3 quotes I received may have thought they implied a primer would be needed but none of them ever said so or had it in their quotes. I also took advantage of the side-note on their written quote that says "We do more than just paint!" so we threw in a repair on ceiling dry-wall where a ceiling fan was falling as well as re-caulking the master shower. No problem! It was fast, painless and done still within the alloted days John said the painting job would take. Before the painting began every hole was patched and sanded, After painting, all vents and electrical plates were replaced on all dry surfaces - I only had to replace a couple because the walls weren't dry by the time the crew left. Side note: This builder uses only Sherwin-Williams (SW) Duration paint. I thought I had wanted another competitor's product until John convinced me that SW was the way to go. I used my paid subscription service at Consumer Reports to check out paint qualities and John was correct! It's the best on the market and you can see and feel the difference. It's 100% washable (yes, even the flat used on the ceilings) and I've already had to test that. Moving a sofa out of one of the rooms I accidentally put a black mark on a wall. It came off beautifully and it still has that freshly painted look! The hallway and stairwell was painted in the existing color and the Sherwin-Williams product matches perfectly! (Initial painting was with a competitor's brand.) If you've been at the receiving end of NON-customer service with painting contractors like I have been, please use April Painting Company for your painting needs. John & Pam know the true meaning. I'm so glad I chose April Painting Company and I'll be calling them again when we re-paint the entire downstairs!
Description of Work: EXCELLENT Painting Contractors! From the initial quote to the last cleanup detail April Painting Company was such a pleasure to work with. They are a family-owned and run business and were prompt and professional. Throughout the 2-3 day job, either John or Pam came to my home to check on the crew, ask me if I had any questions or concerns and went out of their way to make sure I was happy with the end product. As part of their standard service, I was given the opportunity to have a color consultant come to my home so I took advantage of that service as well. Pam helped me zero in on a fabulous accent color for the one room I was uncertain of. I'm so glad April Painting provided Pam's expertise! The crew came to my house each day ON TIME...in fact they were early each day but would respectfully wait until the promised time to ring the doorbell in the morning. (Who does that??!?!?) I took 4 quotes on the job I needed done, April Painting Company was the only company who submitted a quote in writing the very next morning, typed, professional and prices itemized room-by-room. (The others handed me hand-written quotes) I had the assurance of getting a hold of either John or Pam almost instantly via phone, email or text, whichever I preferred, they provided all their numbers and contact info to me so I could choose which way I preferred to communicate.
