+ -1 moreI've always wanted to get things fixed around my house but I never knew who to call until Keath was referred to me and did excellent work at my house. His business card says "Your Home is Where my Heart Is!", that he will show up when he says he will, that his work is done with integrity, that my satisfaction is his priority, that he will treat my home as if it were his own, and that his higher purpose is to be of service - all of which I found to be true. Also, he's really knowledgeable, is comfortable fixing most anything, and is meticulous. Examples of the work he did at my house include: cleaning and painting a basement floor, replacing a closet door, repairing gutters, sanding and painting the front porch floor, replacing the sump pump, re-grouting the shower and lots and lots of other more minor things. He is a great resource. I'm very thankful for all he has done for me.

+ -1 moreKeath saved us! He showed up immediately, on a Sunday, and made everything right. He tarped properly and gave us a dry room again. Since then I have used him for other projects around the house, most recently to replace crawlspace doors to the basement. The new ones are beautiful and not likely to be chewed by critters. But I think I have also called him for the smallest of jobs - once just to help replace lightbulbs on security lights that I am now unable to reach on extention ladder. He does it all with a great attitude and an open heart. I hesitate to give such a glowing review because I have a job for him and I don't want to wait in line behind all the folks who will now call and hire him! But call him anyway y'all!
Description of Work: We called Keath in a panic when rain was pouring into our backroom, the roof of which was improperly tarped by our (cheap, fly by night) contractor who was no where to be found.

Description of Work: He does work for us on a Periodic basis. He will tell you if he cannot do something and refer you to someone that does. I really appreciate that he is honest with us. He has done everything from put a fence in to fix our toilets. He is coming over tomorrow to paint our porch. We even send him to our 76 year old mothers house and she loves him.

Description of Work: Keath has been my handyman for years. He is never misses or blows off an appointment (unlike others I have hired in the past) and he always arrives at the time he tells you. Keath is extremely knowledgeable, considerate of your property, protects surrounding areas, cleans up afterward and generally make the experience fantastic. He has installed fans and light fixtures, tiles, dry wall, toilets and gutters. I know the job will always be up to code and well done, no short cuts or jury rigging. He may be slightly more expensive but worth every penny!!

+ 0 moreFor the back fence, both my neighbors and I talked with Keath about the plan --he then proceeded to dismantle the old fence with great care, carting all materials to the curb and disposal. He then purchased the needed items for constructing the new fence--worked long days, including the wood treatment. All details completed with great satisfaction!
Description of Work: I have used Keath several times for projects around my house, and been very pleased. Installing storm doors for front and back entrances went very well, and the installation of house numbers on the front brick of my town house turned out great. The biggest job, though, was the removal of our old shared fence between my neighbors' and my house.....and the building/ painting of a new fence. (And in the hot of Atlanta summers!). Keath prepared very fair plans and gave us each a detailed invoice and receipt for all materials. Costs were tallied with detail and honesty~~and that fence looks excellent to this day! I'll gladly use Keath's services again: what a great professional!

+ -1 moreWe needed a door put in between two rooms. Our landlord referred us to Keath, as he had worked in the building before and knew it well. Keath came within 24 hours to discuss the work and come up with a plan. We did not receive a written estimate because he said it is too difficult to get exactly, but did give us a ballpark amount. We were not in a hurry and Keath was booked at the time, so he told us when he could begin. He began work ahead of schedule and finished within the estimated two-day window. One thing I liked in particular is that Keath cleaned up the work area whenever he had to leave for more materials or at the end the day. He thoroughly explained our options for framing and sent pictures of the doors before we chose. We would definitely hire him again and have already enlisted him to tackle our next project – another door install!
Description of Work: Purchase and install a door between two offices - Keath made sure he went over all the decisions we needed to make, i.e. what type of door, to which side it would open, etc. We wanted an automatic closer and he took care of that request. After purchasing all the materials, the first day was spent building a custom frame, hinges and weather stripping. On the second day, the basic door installation was completed. Trim was purchased, cut to width and installed, caulked, filled and puttied. Lastly, the door closer was installed.

+ 2 moreI had to get several things done quickly before renting out my Virginia-Highland condominium. I'd worked with Keath before and been very pleased, so I called him. He came out that weekend and got started immediately, and kept me up to date throughout the process. The sink was a difficult situation because of the (old) construction in our condominium building; Keath worked out how best to do it, and did the work perfectly -- and came in below the price I expected. The painting looked great -- it looked better than the day I bought the place. Keath is a great communicator, honest, fair, and does fantastic work. I'll go back to him next time I need someone.
Description of Work: Keath repainted a 700-square-foot condominium, fixed a problematic dishwasher, and did several things to a bathroom sink (reconnecting it, retiling around it, affixing it to the wall).

+ -1 moreI bought a Yagi antenna from a neighbor. Keath climbed the neighbor's house, took down his antenna from his chimney, brought it to my house and put it in my attic. He then used some existing coaxial cable, went to Home Depot and purchased the correct additional cable we needed in my house to connect the antenna to and, voila, a super antenna is nowat work on my TV. He was always on task and looking for ways to cut the cost by working fast and evaluating alternatives. He charged me $55/hour and the job took a couple of hours. Cost: $105.
Description of Work: Keath was resourceful and found a way to pull TV antenna wire into my house by using some existing wires, all of which cut the cost of the job by shortening it. He's pleasant to deal with, has a great sense of humor, and works fast. TV reception is way better after his work.

He worked with us to make some decisions about how to make the project work for our long-term thoughts about the house. He also made some recommendations that we ended up taking regarding wood choices. The stairs are such a visible part of the house, the quality was important. Keath was clearly knowledgeable about the work and was also clear about those things with which he had less experience - so we were confident in the integrity of the person who was doing the work. Additionally, Keath had great reviews on Angie's list and very strong references as well. I would recommend Keath's work to anyone else.
Description of Work: Keath replaced the carpeted stairway of our townhome with hardwood treads and risers. We had already pulled the carpet and padding off the old stairs. Keath pulled up the old construction-grade treads and risers and replaced them with red oak treads and poplar risers. Because the stair case is not perfect, each piece had to be carefully cut to fit on-site. Keith also prepped the stairs for us to stain. The price above was for labor only, supplies were at cost, from Lowe's. It was difficult to find someone for this project who was clearly competent and who wouldn't charge a fortune. Previous to finding Keath (on Angie's List) we had three other contractors come to make bids on the work. One gave a lower bid, but we didn't have confidence that he would do a high quality job. The other two never came back with bids. I expressed concern about wasting the wood from the old, pine (unpainted) treads and risers, Keath cut them to size so that we can burn them in our fireplace this winter! That was a nice touch.

+ -1 moreThe door had been slammed shut with the deadbolt sticking out, which caused damage to the door, the frame of the door, and the lock. The door was stuck in the locked position. We were sure we'd need to buy a new door and new lock. Because this is a frequently used door, we appreciated that he responded quickly to come to repair it. We were delighted when he showed us how the door, frame and lock could be repaired and would that the integrity/safety of the door and lock would be intact. He did careful work, was very pleasant, and the price was very reasonable. He also helped us once before to fix a screen door with poor hinging (about a year or so ago) and were also impressed with the quality of work, his promptness and pricing.
Description of Work: He repaired a damaged wooden door and door frame, and lock.

(No sheet rock dust, screws etc. left behind.) He was punctual, polite, thorough and did good work. I'm calling him back for my next "honey do" list. I would definitely refer him to friends.
Description of Work: Keath installed a fan and light fixture, a glass shelf and bathroom hardware (tp holder, 2 hooks). He also repaired a handrail to an outdoor stair case and anchored drawers in a bookcase.

+ -1 moreHe arrived promptly on time, evaluated our situation and even though he could not make the corrections he was going to have someone call us that was very knowledgeable in this area. He was very professional and kind. They were even kind to Sophia,my 145 lb.Great Dane and my 3 lb. long haired Chihuahua, Bella who took to him :). He said because he was only here a short time and did not correct the problem that he would not charge us. We really did enjoy meeting someone who seemed to be a great guy! We even spoke to him about some repairs that we would like to do in the future and we would highly recommend him if you are looking for an honest and prompt handyman.
Description of Work: My husband called and talked to Keath while he was working for another client and he actually came out that same day! Keath was very prompt in calling us back with our situation, let us know that he would be here within 30 minutes to an hour and he was! Even though he was unable to make the corrections because of the fact that he was not a skilled electrician, we were happy that he was honest and did not give us the run around. He did check the breaker box and gave us some ideas along with assessing the problem area.

He was very detailed. His work was excellent in every aspect. He worked quickly, efficiently, and professionally. Often his suggestions were just what was needed.
Description of Work: Small back porch (5X20ft, approximately) to be tiled, back steps also. Front stoop and steps to be tiled, porch cleaned of stuff, rotten post replaced. Trips to the hardware store as needed for materials throughout installation. Tile picked up, inspected, delivered, porch prepped. Installation begun 9/22/08. All vertical tiles installed and grouting begun by 9/26/08. Back porch, steps, and front stoop grouted and moulding installed on back porch by 9/30/08.
