Scott's Stump and Tree Service

Scott and his team did a great job with the job of cutting down 2 trees and trimming a large oak. Scott responded to my request for an estimate promptly and he was able to give me a date the job would be done.

They did a great job! They were very careful, quick and extraordinarily nice (considering how late it was). Roof, plumbing and fence escaped unscathed. Best of all, I don't have to worry about the tree during the coming storm. This is the second time we've used their service. We're out in the country, with lots of pine trees, and it's been a bad year for pine beetles. We're having trees removed as they succumb to the beetles, and some for the purpose of improving the property or replacing them with fruit trees. In other words, our tree-removal needs are ongoing, and we'll definitely call Scott's again.

I think it took 2 calls to get a call back from Scott, but in our experience, that's typical when dealing with small businesses in the LaGrange area, since the owner is the one fielding calls and supervising or performing the work. Scott came out quickly and gave us a very fair estimate for the work. (We had another bid from an individual who was building this as his side business, had no insurance--which was a show stopper for us--and promised that he would not be under bid.) They were able to do the work with only a week's lead time--which was shorter than we had expected, considering the number of downed trees from a recent ice storm. His team members were all friendly and conscientious , which is important to us, considering they'd be working around my house both when I was there and when I wasn't. They did quality work quickly and efficiently, with minimal damage to our yard and no damage to the house. Since they've finished their work, we've decided that we need to have a few more trees taken out (to clear for a fruit orchard), and we'll definitely be calling them back out for the next job.

After two phone calls and one e-mail, I gave up on this service. Both phone calls were answered with a promise to call and set a date to come to give an estimate. Both times I was under the impression that they were interested in my business. They did not respond at all to the e-mail. They never called to arrange a time to meet and give an estimate.
