"On May 4, I met with a Field Inspector (Salesman) from Aquaguard regarding a leak that I had in my basement. He advised that I needed to have my son move some dirt around my foundation to fix the leak in the basement. I found out from a landscape company that fixed the cause of the leak that this would have made it worse. However the Field Inspector recommended new gutters (which I agree were needed), poly-renewal to fix the cracks in my driveway, and column lift for the column in the middle of my garage doors. These repairs were approximately $10,000. My problems started from there. The field inspector led me to believe the my house would be virtually unsaleable if I did not have the repairs completed. As a widow, without any knowledge of home repairs, I trusted what he said. Later I found out that the column lift and the crack repair in the driveway were not necessary. He completely missed a problem with my front porch being separated from the house. I paid a $2,900 deposit with work was to start on June 7. On June 7, The work on the column was completed. A member of the crew said that they were not sure why this was recommended. June 9, The driveway work was completed by a different crew. They arrived 3 hours earlier than scheduled. They said that they had seen much worse driveways. What I did not know was the the work that they do with the polypill does not repair the cracks. It only prevents them from getting worse, according the the Aquaguard crew. My driveway looks exactly like it did before I spent $1500 for repair. Also on June 9, the gutter repair crew arrived. They were scheduled for the afternoon, but arrived at 9:30 am. Following the gutter install, I walked around with the crew foreman. There was one downspout that was not attached to the gutter. I pointed this out to the foreman. He called someone over to fix that. This young man left a hammer in the yard, was told to pick it up, then threw it down in a different part of the yard. This was a preview of the problems to come. The following morning, I walked out on my deck to find it in complete disarray with rusty nails and a black roofing dust everywhere. I picked up over 40 nails. Nails that my grandchildren could have easily walked on. I found large gutter nails in my yard that could have caused injury to my lawn maintenance person or damaged his equipment. My deck furniture and rug were ruined. I sent a text to the scheduler (the only number I had) on Saturday. He did not respond. A supervisor Nick called me on June 13. He sent someone to my home on June 14 to help clean up and access the damage. The person that he sent was injured and could not do anything with his arm in a sling. He also came with no tools, equipment, paper to take notes, a camera to take pictures, nothing. He borrowed my broom and water hose to spray off my concrete patio. It was a nice gesture but absolutely no help at all. I sent Nick a list of items that were damaged. He said that they would take care of it, but there was no follow-up. He said that he wanted to come to my house to see the damage, but because of our schedules, he could not come for two weeks. I sent a text the week he was supposed to be back in town but did not hear anything. I cleaned my deck and replaced the items that were damaged so that I could use my deck. As of August 5, nearly two months after the initial work was completed, I have heard nothing from Aquaguard about them taking responsibility for the shoddy work and irresponsible work ethic of their gutter crew. I am terribly disappointed in this company and would not recommend them to anyone. Additionally, I was overcharged by $2900. I never received any receipt or breakdown for what I was charged by each of the three different crews even though I asked for an email receipt. I did get a refund for the overpayment. Do not use this company if you want someone who lives up to their word, who has reliable, consistent accounting practices and who has employees that take pride in their work. "I am writing to formally address the issues concerning the project I hired Jackson of J & M Concrete to complete at my property. The scope of work was to diagnose and repair a pond leak as well as address a sinkhole, with an estimated project completion time of 2-3 days. The estimated total price was $6300, of which 50% was to be paid in advance, $3150 was paid. On January 2, 2025, Jackson, of J & M, poured some concrete, which was to cure and settle before the next phase. The project was left incomplete. Jason removed all equipment and left the job site by the next morning, leaving large ruts in the yard from the trackhoe and other heavy equipment. The sinkhole was not addressed, nor the pond leak. It has remained unfinished and has been getting worse during the last 2 and a half months. I called days two and three when there was no sign of them coming back and made numerous phone calls over the next couple months to find out when they would be back to finish the job, seeing as they were paid beyond the scope of the job they did. It has been more than 2 ½ months and no return phone call. At the end of February, I received a letter from the concrete company contracted by J &M, Smyrna Ready Mix Concrete, which is seeking payment for their services – “Notice to Contractor and Request for Notice of Commencement, O.C.G.A & s.44-14-361.5.” I called them and found out that their bill had not been paid by J & M. I notified Jackson about this matter and he texted back saying he was in Florida and would call in the upcoming week due to a death in the family. As of today, March 13, the pond continues to leak, and the sinkhole remains unresolved, even growing in size. The equipment used during the project caused enough damage to require that additional fees be spent for hiring a landscaper to address the ruts in the lawn left by the trackhoe, as well as the excavated hill dirt used to block the creek from flowing into the pond. The partial blockage diverted the water, causing it to overflow its banks. Fortunately, the blockage has since been cleared."

Driveway sealcoating FAQs

Concrete can crack from general wear, improper installation, or in response to uneven support from the soil underneath. Small, thin cracks on the surface of aging concrete are usually a result of normal wear and tear, while cracks on new concrete more likely indicate a problem with installation. Larger cracks or uneven steps can signify a much more severe issue. A concrete contractor should be able to diagnose the cause and repair concrete cracks for you.

When hiring an asphalt paving contractor to install your driveway, ask as many questions up front as possible. Here are a few questions to ask a prospective driveway contractor:

  • How many years of experience do you have?

  • Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

  • Do you have worker’s compensation?

  • Do you use subcontractors on your projects?

  • Do you clean up after the job is done?

  • Who is responsible for any damage to lawn or landscaping?

  • Do you provide a guarantee or warranty on your work?

  • Do you give free estimates?

  • What is the timeline for completion?

  • How do you handle change orders?

  • Can you provide at least three references?

  • Can I see some of the work you’ve done?

The cost to install a concrete driveway is $4 to $15 per square foot on average. Your price heavily depends on your desired concrete finish and driveway size.

For a driveway that is 200 square feet, you can expect to pay an average cost of $1,900. For a driveway at double that size (400 square feet), the average price is closer to $3,800. Plain concrete is significantly more cost-effective, averaging $7 per square foot, whereas stained concrete averages around $19 per square foot.

The cost of resurfacing concrete is $6 per square foot on average, though that cost can range from $3 to $9 per square foot

For a driveway that is 200 square feet, you can expect to pay $600 to $1,800, and for a driveway that is 500 square feet, that cost averages $1,500 to $4,500. Resurfacing your driveway will give you the look and feel of a new surface without the hefty cost.

An asphalt driveway costs about $7 to $15 per square foot, including labor and materials. The cost will vary depending on your location, how thick the base material is, what prep is required, the thickness of the asphalt, and the accessibility of the job site. The national average cost to install an asphalt driveway is about $4,740.
