Overall, the work was well done. There were delays of a few days in completing the work, I suspect because of their many jobs & heavy workload. Also, inexperienced employees did some sloppy work that required redoing. Not realizing these problems, I paid for the work in full. When I called about correcting these problems, more experienced workers returned and stayed with it until it was complete, i.e. they are very honest. I think you get the most accurate idea of how good and honest a company is when you see how they handle such problems. I will definitely call them when we need work in the future.
Description of Work: They repaired brick steps at the front and back of the house, brick portions of the driveway, and mortar where a previous brick room addition joined an older part of the brick house. Also, we had moths coming into the house through the fireplace. They improved sealing by the damper and sealed other potential moth entries.

On Saturday morning the contractor came out to talk with my husband and explain the process. He left the workers came shortly to start the process. They began breaking up the concrete with a sledge hammer. After that process they began securing the foundation to reduce shrinkage again. Two days later they came out to pour the concrete. The job was complete on May 18, 2015. we are very pleased with the job done.

Work was excellent, in keeping with character of the house and enhances appearance and, hopefully, value. Provider's representative was polite, patient and amenable to suggestions. He consulted us during each phase of the work and made modifications at our request, without extra changes. The crew assigned to do the work was courteous and respectful. We had a very positive experience and would not hesitate to call on this company again or refer friends and family.
Description of Work: Provided poured footings and built a total of10, 6'h, 24"x24"w, cinder block columns, with stucco finish, and installed metal (aluminum) fencing. This construction was completed on each side of the front of house (five columns on each side), as a facade to the wooden privacy fence, leading into the back yard. Provider also capped the columns with stone.

August/Commonwealth concrete & Masonry LLC failed to deliver a satisfactory repair/resurface of garage floor. As of 3 August 2013, the work has not been satisfactorily completed. As per contracted agreement, he was to seal the crack with epoxy, and finish with a thin concrete coat that would provide a smooth finish to the entire floor. Per contract, epoxy was applied to the crack on 3 July 2013 and an initial concrete layer was spread on 8 July. Mr. Gordon decided to remove this concrete layer a week later due to the extreme granular texture of the product used. A second and different concrete product was applied on 25 July with a reapplication "touch up" on 29 July. On August 2, 2013, I texted Mr. Gordon asking when the floor would be done and his response was "It already is". The present condition of the floor is unacceptable. Masking tape is still in place, chucks of the initial granular concrete application are present around the baseboards. Shoe prints, dust, dirt and debris are present in the concrete from the second concrete applicatiwith rough swirls and dark patchwork spots. A second concrete contractor has been contacted and indicated the surface concrete applied is inappropriate for the job. The crack is still visible with expoxy leaking through the surface. This is far from the promised product of a smooth surface with no visible crack. Mr. Gordon has been paid in full to provide a product which has yet be delivered. A BBB complaint has been filed

Response from Augusta Concrete & Masonry LLC
Augusta Concrete and Masonry prides itself on returning for repairs and customer complaints. However, Ms. [member name removed] was a very difficult customer. The contract was to repair and resurface her garage floor. The first day we were there, 3 July, she stood over me and my employee the entire time and made comments about how she could have done the repair herself. The epoxy we used to seal the crack took several days to dry. On 8 July I returned and had to grind the epoxy down to make it level, and I applied the bonding and resurfacing material. I did a broom finish on the floor, Ms [member name removed] was not happy with the finish so I removed it and applied a smooth finish. Ms. [member name removed] had some additional complaints about the baseboards and final clean up, my employee and I returned and wiped down the areas of her concern. She did file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, they have closed the case due to insufficient evidence that we did not complete the project as contracted.

Mr. Gordon, and his crew members are very professional. I asked for a visit and an estimate from three concrete companies and Mr. Gordon's company was the only company that provided a contract in writing explaining what as a customer I should expect from his company. Apparently everything that could had gone wrong on this job did, but Mr. Gordon handle every matter in stride and with the utmost respect to me as the homeowner. Any and all repairs that were needed were properly prepared in a surprising timely manner. I was truly impressed and for me that is not easy. There was a roll off bed (for the collection of the old concrete) that was used by the contractor, Mr. Gordon, that belonged to Marks Concrete owned by Mr. Derek Partridge. For some reason unbeknownst to me, and disturbing to me to say the lest Mr. Partridge came to my door and slandered Mr. Gordon. At this time I had seen nothing wrong with Mr. Gordon's work but I felt it odd that a subcontractor would speak to me because I had no reason to be involved in what was Mr. Partridge's apparent problem with Mr. Gordon. I was now concerned about the project and informed Mr. Gordon of my concern's. Mr. Gordon immediately contacted Mr. Partridge and settled all my concern's about this project. With Murphy's law in full affect and through all the obstacles, that were not within Mr. Gordon's control, my project was finished within the time frame promised!!! And I am elated with the work and this company and am already considering this company for a later project. I would suggest this company to all who need a contractor that handles situations and obstacles and leaves the customer's mind at ease and reassured that the job will be completed as stated in contract.
Description of Work: This company took a driveway that was not scaled properly, puddle ridden when it rained and walkway to the door under water and changed it to a Beautiful Masterpiece with an extra carport.

The work went fine and was very well done. We were happy. BUT three months later we were served with a lien on our property from the attorneys for the supplier of the concrete because the contractor had not paid for the material. The amount was $395.00. The attorney for the supplier happened to be our own attorney, so we just paid the supplier to have the lien lifted. The contractor sent word through our attorney that he would make good for the money, but never has.
Description of Work: Repaved a small portion at the end of our driveway.

Contracted to repair crack/resurface concrete in single car garage. Crack was filled with expanding epoxy, and the QuikCrete layer was applied to floor. This application was removed a week later because of the excessive granular appearance that could not be smoothed out. A different concrete product was applied, with the same result. Contractor abandoned the project, leaving nothing but a mess of dirt, dust and a rough, irregular and spotted concrete floor that had footprints embedded in the dried concrete. This project lasted over a month, with little or no response to emails, texts or phone calls from the customer inquiring what was going on and when the project would be completed. Augusta Concrete and Masonry, also known as Commonwealth Concrete LLC, claims to be a BBB certified vendor, and sports the BBB logo on his trucks carrying the Commonwealth Concrete LLC signage. There is n record of his affiliation with the BBB. There is an open complaint with the BBB. Buyer beware!
