Hewes Family Movers

They were great and we did have a few issues with how long it was taking and the price. I called the manager and we got everything worked out. I am happy with them and I would use them again.

Certainly the best movers with whom I've worked. Extremely punctual and will always call ahead if they are possibly being delayed. The three men who showed up to perform the move were extremely courteous, helpful, and very careful with everything they loaded onto the trailer, transported, and offloaded. We were quoted a 6.5-hour move and it ended up taking 5.75 hours - which of course resulted in a lower cost and that is always a plus! After the move was complete they made sure to offer their help with moving anything else around the new home that was needed. Would most definitely recommend Hewes Family Movers to anyone needing moving services in their covered area.

These guys are simply AMAZING! We had two men load all of our boxed and unboxed stuff in a little over an hour. They were on time when they arrived and also when we got to MO to unload. Then they unloaded all of it in about the same time and even put our beds together. They even helped me unload a heavy tank and a huge doghouse out of my truck. They are admittedly not the cheapest movers but if you want your stuff to be handled by the best, CALL HEWES!!! You will not be disappointed Dave and Barbara Porter

They were good. They were fine. It was just expensive but they were good. They were on time. I have no complaints about them. They were very professional and very efficient. I ended up going up with them because the owner actually communicated with me and called me back and he has good communication and follow up. He was good at scheduling my appointment and everything. He has good follow up and good follow through on that part. They were good. I don’t have anything bad to say about them. It was good service.

The movers did a good job. It took 6 hours for a 4 man crew to move from a three story townhouse to a 2 story home. They had to pull some magic tricks to get one piece of furniture out because the staircase was too narrow.

Overall a great experience! A fellow worker had used them when she moved from Atlanta to Florida and recommended them. Looked them up on Angie's List and they had great reviews. Called them up and they said what we wanted was doable and they sent out a "salesman" who quoted us a fair price. When I was able to talk with Bill Hewes he was great. But getting a hold of Bill Hewes was sometimes hit or miss. And when I was dealing with Hewes Family Movers, their website was not working. So the communication with Hewes could have been better. But 99% of what is/was important to me was how did the move go, so that communications were sometimes poor, is not that a big deal to me. Usually when I did talk with Bill, he told me to not worry, that they were flexible and everything was fine. Originally we had planned on having two packers for eight hours, but Bill contacted us the night before and asked if he could send four packers (two married couples) for four hours. We agreed, and they were fantastic. And it only took them three hours, so we saved money. The packers did a fantastic job of labeling what was in each box. The next day, four young men came and loaded our house into a trailer, a truck, and van in about 5 hours. Took special care of our pictures and paintings. Early the next day they drove to Jacksonville and arrived right when we arrived. Nonstop they unloaded our goods in only few hours even though it was about 100 degrees. Both the packers and the movers were very hard workers! Everything was in perfect shape, no dents, dings, scratches, nothing lost. Perfect move.

They were wonderful. They were very professional and easy to work with. I felt comfortable with them in my home. The price was great.

Excellent...We have moved more times that I care to remember and i must admit it was the most stressful free move that we have even had. Out of a scale of 1 to 10, they were a 10. Dakota and Jarrett our two movers were extremely porfessional in every way In addition Dana our contact person at Hewes was excellent as well. We already referred them two of our friend who are moving! Its great to know that there are still companies ooy there that still take pride in their work! Once again, excellent work Hewes! You absolutely could not ask for a better move experience!!! Bill had a cancellation and was able to move our date up a few days for us. His crew came well-prepared and had the most positive attitudes you could expect. Although they arrived 45 minutes after our scheduled time, they worked hard and finished the loading process an hour quicker than projected. My wife had to meet them in Savannah by herself, but they put everything where she wanted it, and setup bedroom and other furniture to her desire. This is the first time I've ever done a big move by myself (23 years in the military), and I must admit I was very worried. Hewes Family Movers far exceeded my expectations! I will recommend them to all my family and friends, and will definitely use them again when we have moving needs!!! My only recommendation would be for Bill to have a full-time office staff who can answer questions, keep schedules, etc. I often had to leave a message on Bill's cellphone, then wait for a call back...sometimes a day or two later. But it was worth the wait!!!

Everything went great! We have moved over 32 times, most of that while in the Air Force, and this was our best move ever!. From start to finish, all of the team members from Hewes were extremely polite, professional and effective. Chris was the lead man on our move assisted by David. These guys were fantastic! From estimating, packing, loading our POD, loading their truck/trailer, driving from Atlanta to New Mexico, delivering and setting everything up, they oversaw a process that was on time, on target and just a pleasure. Moving can be stressful, but the attitude, courtesy and skill of the Hewes team made it a delight. I can't say enough good things about these guys. They did everything they said they would do, were always on time, were the nicest people to work with, and moved our home goods flawlessly. We don't anticipate moving again anytime soon, but if we do, we know who we would want to do it! We give Hewes Family Movers our highest and strongest recommendation.

We moved to GA from CA in June 2013 but our new home was not ready until Aug. 2013. The movers we used from CA moved our home into a storage unit in GA, so once our home was ready in Aug., we had to find a local company to move our stuff from the storage unit to our new home. Upon many phone calls and research on Angie's List we decided to hire Hewes Family Movers and we are so glad we did. They arrived on time, even in the rain at the storage unit. Loaded up the trailer and van, which considering they did not know what the original movers had really done was a task in itself, they did a very good job of finding everything that had been taken apart and put in drawers that needed to be put together once it was in the new house. The two young men were very professional and handled everything with care. We would not only recommend them to our friends we would also use them in the future if we needed in movers.

Hewes family arrived on time. They were friendly and thorough and finished earlier than estimated. They places all the furniture, helped to put my King bed back together, and worked in rain to get the job done. Two days after my move, I realized that my son's trumpet had not made it off of the truck and Bill Hewes delivered it personally. Great work, great service!!!

Overall they did a good job. I like that their English feels all good. They did what they said they would do. They were friendly, responsive and on time. The only negative is we had more stuff than the size of the truck that they've brought so we can't fit everything on the truck.

They were prompt, courteous, and efficient. My husband wasn't at the house when they arrived, and I find it very important to feel comfortable with any workmen that come into my house. I felt at ease with them. They worked fast and were finished before the estimated time.

The best move ever!! Mr. Hewes and his entire staff are courteous, professional and hard-working. We have moved several times but this move with Hewes Family Movers was terrific. We would highly recommend their services and will use them again if we move. Thank you so very much!!

Their estimator come out a couple of weeks prior. They seemed high at over $800. (I have moved about the same/more furnishings locally an equitable distance four times for about $600 -- but the companies I used previously did not do moves downtown.) Final bill was $975. I called Hewes based on their great reviews. I am a huge AList fan and have never had a poor experience with another provider. I had a little bit of a pang when I heard nothing from the company until around 7 pm the Saturday night before the move. They had no info on what the move entailed, although the estimator had taken down all the specifics. They then called back a short time later to say they would arrive an hour later than scheduled....but no biggie. The morning of move, the team called to say they were running an hour late, which turned out to be an hour and a half. To sum up this experience, both men were pleasant but had ZERO sense of urgency. What do I mean by that? They were moving so slowly, my 65 year old, 110 pound sister started loading boxes into a wheelbarrow to help things along. (She cannot deal with inefficiency. LOL To help you get the picture, we rounded the corner and one of the guys was sitting on a chair he'd put on a dolly, PUSHING HIMSELF ALONG BY HIS FEET. OMG. Getting a couch around a tight corner? You'd think negotiating furniture through doorways was a frigging trigonometry test. It took about an hour just to get my armoire and sofa the 15 feet to my door. After they left, I noticed they left a couple of nice, deep gouges in the bamboo hardwoods of my new place...sigh. I have moved a total of 16 times locally and nationwide, so this is not my first rodeo. I've had hideous ripoff moves (this is not that) and fantastic experiences (this is also SO not that.) This was just "bad" and frustrating. Since this move was on a Sunday, I suspect I was in the hands of contract workers. Haven't received a follow-up call, "How'd it go" or anything lie that, though. Just glad it is OVER.

It ended up good. We had a major issue but they resolved it. I felt very comfortable with them, I felt that my belongings were safe with them and they're honest. They're very polite and professional. They charge by the hour and worked very quickly.

In a word the move went 'great'. I joined Angie's List specifically to find a mover after several bad moving experiences. Hewes Family Movers had great reviews so I asked them for a detailed quote. Preston came out and arrived exactly on time. Preston's manner was very professional and he gave me the feeling that he had done this 1,000 times. This was important when his quote came in significantly lower than the other movers I had met with. This led to me choosing Hewes for the move but also had me concerned I would get a surprise at the end. However, when the move was complete the quote turned out to be spot on in regard to both cost and time. The team that arrived for my move were all very friendly and had been briefed on the complicated schedule I needed to maintain for the move day. Each of the guys worked hard and fast while also taking great care of my stuff and not causing any damage to the house. By the time I needed to be out of the house the team was done and the trucks were off the property. They showed up at the new house exactly when I needed them and immediately went to work getting me moved in. Finally, after the team left I found a small problem and called Bill to talk about it, leaving him a short voicemail that there was an issue so please call me back. Roughly 15 minutes later Bill called back and the first words out of his mouth were "I don't know what the problem is but let me assure you we will take care of it". This was the best possible customer service response and immediately put me at ease. From there Bill proceeded to not only correct the problem but actually left things better than they were originally. We are all human which means sometimes accidents happen and I always focus on how people respond to those accidents. Bill and Hewes Family Movers responded to this issue with absolute professionalism and customer care. I joined Angie's List to find a mover that would be, at the least, reliable. What I found was an excellent mover and partner in Hewes Family Movers, far exceeding my expectations. Next time I move I'm only making one call and that will be to Hewes. If I could give an A+ rating I would.

The two movers for our job were great. Very polite, worked hard and finished the job in 5 hours. We only had a 4 hour window to move out of the condo and even though the Atlanta traffic put them behind by 30 minutes, they immediately started working when they arrived and finished the move out in 2 hours! They are hard workers and very efficient. We will definitely use them in the future and have already recommended them to our fellow neighbors.

We used this mover in 2013 for a move that included a pool table and a piano. We had 3 levels in the house we moved from and 2 levels in the house we moved to. I have moved a lot in my life, using movers on both coasts, and I can say these guys are the best. They were friendly, polite, careful with our things and seemed like they actually liked their job. I hope I won't be moving anytime soon but if so, I would definitely use this company again.

Prompt response to call for estimate and walked through entire process ahead of time. Their estimate included full replacement value insurance instead of that ridiculous $0.60/lb that other companies include. I believe there were 5 people in the crew, and the same group performed the entire process. I have some very large, expensive furniture which I was concerned about moving. Everything was totally protected and carefully placed (and repositioned at my request) with no damage to walls or the furniture. The entire crew was friendly and hardworking. Both locations had upstairs bedrooms and basements requiring some creative maneuvering of furniture, but no one complained and they had no problems getting even the largest items in and out. All were professional and courteous. They did an unbelievable job of packing everything; boxes were clearly labeled and nothing was broken. All supplies had been included in the estimate and there was appropriate sized boxes and plenty of padding and paper wrap used. (a company I used in the past added on $800 for supplies after they had wasted rolls of tape around boxes with one or two items just thrown in an oversized box) I also had a large multi-station home gym with bench press that was moved along with my pool table and an electronic video dart game. One of the big selling points for me was their ability to handle to moving of these items without having to hire separate professionals on arrival. All items were completely reassembled and in perfect working condition at our new home. The pool table did require leveling later but as it was on a plush carpet, this was expected. I have moved several times (both local and interstate) and have had some horrible experiences in the past with moving companies and dreaded another long-distance move, but Hewes made the process painless. I feel bad that I forgot to post this review right after the move. It is just now that I am going to be moving everything from Michigan to Florida that I remembered how great they were. (If they are willing to come up from Georgia to do the job, I will hire them again). I cannot recommend them highly enough.

It was a little too high but I did like them very much and they seemed very sincere.

My experience was excellent. They were very thorough. Well organized, punctual and careful when packing. i would use them again in a heart beat.
