Hewes Family Movers

It went very well. They were excellent. It was hard move for them because there was a lot of packing to do, however their service was top notch.

Scheduled an estimate appointment for a local move. They didn't show. The next day I talked to them and they said they had tried to call but I had transposed 2 numbers in my phone number so my fault. We rescheduled for next week and they didn't show AGAIN. The first time if they had just honored the appointment the phone wouldn't have been an issue as well. They need to honor their appointment commitments.

This was the easiest move we have ever had due to Hewes Family Movers. They were fabulous. They were professional, pleasant, and did the job quickly. They were so very nice.

Great pre-move coordination and survey of the items. Very cooperative and understanding by Bill for her concerns with regard to her treasures. Arrived on time with a crew who worked quickly and carefully. Issues at the receiving end were quickly and cooperatively resolved, although the were primarily caused by changes of mind or confusion as to where furnishings would fit in the new house. Wonderful equipment, great crew , and a move as free of worry as something this stressful can be. Highly recommended.

Bill Hewes was great from the start! I injured myself during moving process and needed to change my moving date and schedule. Bill commited a crew to me and told me I was covered no matter what. When the men arrived, Chip and Jesse, they introduced themselves, asked what I wanted done, then took over the process. They were kind, respectful, helpful, professional, and completely terrific! They did things in the process that I did not ask for and did not expect. All my belongings were packed and handled with care. When the trailer was loaded they even checked the hitch for me to see that it was ready to go. As I said I was injured and the men actually looked out for me as I was there alone attempting to get this done. I was completely impressed with Chip and Jesse and have the highest praise for them. Mrs Hewes has since called to check with me and see if I have recovered from that injury. Wow! From the beginning through the process the entire Hewes organization is kind, helpful, professional, speedy, and they also had the best rates! Hewes is the best! If you need a moving company in the S Atlanta area you can't beat Hewes! Mine was a small job but they also have trucks and do local and distance moving. Go Hewes!

From the beginning of the move, it was apparent that this company is a major-leaguer in the moving business. Bill was incredibly thorough and responsive in setting up our move, and Dakota and Jesse did an absolutely amazing job of executing the job. The speed and precision with which they worked was matched by the care they took with our prized possessions to make sure there was not a scratch at the end of the day. First, the guys moved everything out of our house, then followed me to my storage unit and emptied it into the truck in no time. Finally, they moved everything without a hitch into our new house approximately 40 miles away. We have used Hewes Family Movers previously and had a great experience with them on that occasion as well. We will never call anyone else!

Outstanding!! The crew, headed up by Chris and David were efficient, careful, extremely hard-working, polite and flexible when we would say after they had put the furniture where we initially wanted it and then changed our minds, creating more work for them. They were GREAT!!

These movers are in a totally different league than any others we have ever used. They moved my son's belongings from. 2400 square foot house from Norfolk, Va to Atlanta, Georgia . They sent 6 men in 3 trucks who were extremely hardworking, friendly, courteous, and treated our belongings like their own. There was not even a nick in anything they handled for us. They were flexible and gave us the dates and exact times we wanted, returned all email or phone falls promptly, and didn't ask for any money at all until the job was completed to our satisfaction. They also were willing to disconnect appliances and reconnect them in the new house, disassemble and reassemble any furniture that needed that done, take window ac units out and reinstall them in the new house, and when the washer needed a different type of plug although they don't do electrical work, they showed my husband step by step how to do it . All of this saved us a lot of money by not having to hire a handyman . My son had various electronics that he was worried about being damaged in high heat in a regular moving van and these movers put them in an air conditioned van for travel and kept them cool for one night storage in a warehouse using a portable ac unit until they delivered them to the new house 2 days after the move. They were willing to move all types of belongings that my son had including plants, bottles, food, etc. Many other movers I contacted would not touch those items. The price quote was guaranteed so we didn't have to worry about movers invoking up to a 15% cap like has happened to us twice before with other movers. Moving is stressful enough, and Hewes Family Moving Company eliminated much of this stress. Their delivery window for such a long move ( over 550 miles) could have been the next day if we wanted. None of this nonsense about waiting 3 to 14 days for your belongings. I would highly recommend them for any type of move, local or long distance. They are superior!!!

Hewes Family Movers did an excellent job handling our moves - both of them! We have used Hewes twice in the last 7 months, with great results on both moves. This most recent move consisted of 4 packers coming in on Monday and packing up the kitchen, living room and bedrooms. They were very professionally dressed, very friendly and got the work done fast! The movers then returned on Thursday at our request and moved us from one home to the next - all in one day! It was exhausting to watch - the team at Hewes Family Movers worked extremely hard and were also, very friendly and professional. There were a couple of snags with the trailer trying to get up the new home's driveway - but it was worked out and they proceeded to unload in the time frame expected. I couldn't have asked for a better group of workers - Dakota was the lead and he did an excellent job with his crew. The fact that we have gone back to Hewes Family Movers twice in 7 months - tells you the confidence I have in this company. I would highly recommend them for any move in the Atlanta area.

Not good at all. Bill Hewes, the owner came to my home, and seemed like a nice guy and a good salesman. However, I got nothing but excuses and broken promises every time I spoke to Bill Hewes. I was promised an estimate the same day or the next day at the latest, but never received it. I called Mr. Hewes two days later after coming out and was told he didn't know why I didn't receive the estimate, and he would call me back within 30 minutes. That has now been four days ago and still no estimate. At this point I wouldn't use this mover at any price, but I mainly wanted to file a review to forewarn other Angie's List customers that is not a reliable company to entrust your move and/or storage to. Very unprofessional.

I was very impressed with Justin. He seems to know his job well. The estimate Bill gave was not the lowest or highest, but I chose this mover because of Justin and Bill. They are so easy to talk to and they understand this business. I will post an update as soon as they complete my move. So far so good.

Team of young men arrived punctually, moved all of our stuff to new home. Never complained, never batted an eye despite going up many stairs. Handled belongings with care. Were fast and polite and professional. Bill and others in office always helpful and friendly. This is a small family operation. They do fantastic work. A+++++ I would recommend Hewes to ANYONE. They are the best.

Best experience I've ever had with a mover. I needed to book a mover quickly, and they were able to come the very next day. They were on time, very careful with our things, and quick. The moving crew was super professional and courteous. The entire move took less time than we had estimated, and the cost was low. GREAT EXPERIENCE.

I arranged to have them do the packing, which was handled carefully and efficiently by a team of 3 packers. Everything they packed came through without a hitch. The movers showed up at the appointed time and handled a logistically complex move down a very long (city block) hallway to the service elevator, always taking the time to carefully protect my furniture rather than take the quick and dirty route of banging things around. My building was super detail-oriented, so the slightest scuff was going to get billed, and they cost me exactly 0$ in that respect. They met me the following day at the delivery location and moved everything in, quickly and efficiently. Throughout, the movers were professional and attentive to details of furniture reassembly, as well as the many other things that can get messy in a move. If I had any criticism, it's that I think their approach to framed paintings needs work; I expected some degree of padding and was told that they just moved them as-is, and in fact some of the painting frames were damaged as a result. This leaves you in the awkward space of deciding what to do with a scuffed or chipped frame, given how expensive good frames are. But honestly given how delicate and complicated the move was, this was a minor thing that could easily be remedied, and I would recommend them without any reservation.

I am very pleased with the service provided by Hewes Family Movers. They were willing and able to move two households in two different locations to one house in another location. I especially appreciated their flexibility when I needed to reschedule the move for one household. The crew arrived promptly on both moving days and did their job efficiently and professionally. I liked their flat fee by the hour for moving - no hidden charges. I was disappointed that they would not honor the offer on their Angie's List page to loan 4 wardrobe boxes on moving day, but they made up for it when we needed additional packing tape and bubble wrap. Also, I was disappointed that they do not accept credit cards because of the merchant fees. Overall, a great experience and i would definitely recommend and/or use them again myself. Update 02/14/2015 (after reading Bill Hewe's comments): I don't want to quibble over the wardrobe boxes or the credit card fees. What is most important to me is the great job your crew did getting us moved. I do want to point out though, that when Preston came to give us an estimate, he told us that the wardrobe box offer was a mistake made by Angie's List. Also, the woman who scheduled the move said you don't accept credit cards - cash or checks only. So, I paid by check but would have preferred to use my credit card - lots of reward points for $1,000. Smooth process each step of the way. Bill took ownership of the job, sent his guys out, honored the commitment to communicate early and often day-of move and leading up to it, and the move went flawlessly. Guys were professional, courteous and it was a pleasure. I will call Bill and his team straight away at next opportunity.

I recently moved back to Florida from Georgia where I had been living for 18 years. Everyone that I dealt with at Hewes was helpful, courteous and efficient. I lost track of a briefcase that had my work materials in it and placed a panicky call to Chris to see if it was possible that it could be found. He knew exactly where it was and arranged to meet me just off the interstate as I was driving to Florida and handed over the briefcase right on time. All my things were delivered right on time and the marked boxes placed in the appropriate rooms. No breakage and a very delicate piece of furniture arrived perfectly intact. I can't say enough good about this company they were the absolute BEST!!!!

I recently sold the home my husband and I lived in until he passed away a year ago. Chris and Bill and the whole Hewes crew were so efficient in packing all my fragile things, they provided exceptional service and were very understanding when I had a few bad moments. They even went to pack up a storage room I had forgotten to tell them about and retrieved a briefcase after all my household items had been delivered to their warehouse for storage that I had forgotten to set aside so it would not go with my other things. In short, they went WAY above and beyond in service to me as I am very sure they do with all their customers. My furniture is set to be delivered 12/18 (in FL) and I have no doubt the service will again be exceptional. I would recommend this company to anyone whether the move is local or long distance because they are worth every penny. .

Hewes Family Movers was awesome. Came for estimate when scheduled and gave us a very fair price. Moving day they arrived on time, and went right to work. All the guys worked hard and were attentive to doing the job right, not just the lead as we've experienced in the past. Matt was our lead and did an awesome job!!They are a great example of a small business that cares about doing a good job and making sure the customer is very satisfied. Moving has never been so easy.
